I just wanted to verify that being a level 44ish fisherman and having inside the belly quest unlocked is enough to receive opal silk and saber shoot from the quest?

I'm thinking I may try to avoid some future frustrations by just trading 1 Lik and 1 Gug a day. It should make things easier on my wallet and long-term mental welfare.

you can get both items. however till you have the lu shang quest done(10,000 carp) and the key item (i forget the name its 98,000 GP(you also need skill 78 for this key item)) you can not get the quest to trade them in for the rod.

lik update edit: got a little better i got 21 lik today(not what i get most days but i can live with it)

my norm is around 30-50 a day when i fish this long.

Wow that sucks, I originally did the Lu quest on my Sandy mule since it was easier to turn in that way. I didn't realize that, thanks.

edit: maybe im wrong "other wiki" does not say anything about needing the lu shang quest done.

i know my friend bought his lu shang and is still under 300 carps but got his ebisu rod in like 200 of each kind of fish as far as i know its only lvl 79 fishing required

A couple more quick specific question demo if you dont mind. I like to have things planned out well ahead of time so here goes. Mostly verifying level ranges and the zones you fished in.

Stage 1:
Istiridye <-All done in Nashmau, take to about 50?

Stage 2:
Mercanbaligi+Ahtapot <-All done in Nashmau or did you fish in Tallaca Cave? Take to about 85?

Stage 3:
Mercanbaligi+Dil (canceling all !!! fish Ahtapots) <-All done in Tallaca Cave? Take to 96?

1: 53

3: Yes

Why cancel ahtapots?

Has anyone had any experience fishing up Trumpet Shells? They seem like a pretty nice option considering their price tag and rate of sale? Wiki says the best combination is Vunkerl Inlet (S) - Robber Rig

seeing as your fishing skill is 44 i wouldnt recommend it. unless you're up in the 90-100 range, bite rates on trumpet shells are gonna be pretty awful. i dicked around with them a bit in the 50s, i averaged about a stack an hour.


also, lu shangs quest has nothing to do with ebisu quest. completing lu shangs is not a prerequisite to start ebisu.

it doesnt take that long to run back to nashmau. with about 30 free spaces i can fish for over an hour before i'm full. at which point i like to zone anyway. i also liked to keep my hp in nashmau so i could just warp back. took less than 5 mins to sell fish and get back out to talacca again.

Have you seen better skillup in Talacca Cove? or just a change of scenery?

Bite rate seems to be slightly better since its an outdoor zone (dont know if this is actually true) and there are generally far less fishers than nashmau so the zone doesnt get fished out. also the addition of dils pushes the ratio to 2/3 stackable fish to 1/3 unstackable, compared half and half which is kinda nice. and dils seems to give pretty good skillup rates.

some of those reasons may or may not be factual but overall i mainly prefer it just because its so much less crowded. i like fishing alone

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I just never saw the apron as a worthwhile item to spend all that time/gil/gp on. The number of items fished up has always been pretty minimal. I understand the logic that if you're not getting an item, that's an extra cast to reel in a fish...but the cost/benefit just isn't there in my eyes.

What cost though? Most of the time you use Lu Shang's a lure... if you're just fishing GP fish you're probably not going to lose that many lures. Andi f you do lose one, or have to buy ingredients then you can fish a few money fish while you're there to make up for it

I'm gonna stick with Raw Fish Handling starting this weekend, should only take me a week or two. Then it's apron time!

I'm pretty much retired. 0/906 on Lik. It'll be a while before I touch the online world again, nevermind the fishing rod.
