I'm planning way ahead of time here, but other than a Lu and near 100 fishing skill, what is required to successfully pull in Liks and gug's at a decent rate? I've read about key items and special lures on wiki, but it's still a bit foggy.

albatross and penguin rings. liks can be pulled of with just albatross ring though

mooching also helps but is completely unnecessary

By the time you get all the points and bait for mooching to be effective, you'll prolly have gotten the silk anyways.

Well Ive been fishing marlin the past week. Briggands chart owned me hard (0/2). I guess its just spam /fish and pray it catches soon. Just need to find two SMN to help with Pirate's now. Still ~50k gp away from Serpent Rumors though. :/

edit: also, grats on the Silk Juib! I went like 1/3 for Mercurial Sword just recently, kinda wish that was saber shoot or opal silk though. Hopefully my luck isnt completely ruined.

Btw 98k GP and still don't know if Apron or Serpent rumors (fishing 93). My idea was start fishing Liks/Gugrus @100... and now I don't fish too much because I'm mostly farming ingredients for synth so... I don't know ; ;

Just got a Pelican Ring (2nd in tourny :D), and going to be eventually taking fishing to 100 plus Ebisu. However, I have not used any GP yet, except for a belt that I no longer have. How should I spend the GP? Just buy the Serpent Rumors? Or should worry about other GP items first? The body seems nice, but also crap at the same time, along with the waders. But, if I was so sure, I wouldn't be posting here! So please, someone help me decide what GP items to focus on for the road to 100+ebisu.

Other info that might be of use: Lu Shang's is bought (if that makes a difference), and two Albatross Rings. Don't have access to dual box as I play on Xbox 360 only, so I will most likely delevel Cooking so I can repair my Lu Shang's on the fly if needed (WW@57)

i fish like 30 a day and if im lucky i can sell 10-15. still 300-400k a day is nto bad. and i have over 2mil in fish on mules ~_~

Ok starting to get really frustrated. Lvl 56, on the ferry w/ sliced bluetail, no gear or w/e on, targeting marlins. I will occasionally get messages with !!! and i reel them in, and I lose them cuz of lack of skill. Does that make sense considering im using a mithran fishing rod, and only 5 lvls from cap?

It's been awhile since I didn't have Lu to use, but try a Halcyon Rod instead of the Mithran; the energy depletion is a little weaker as a synthetic rod, but it's just an overall better rod. The item descriptions can often be misleading, and iirc the only real use for the Mithran Rod is to break it for the opo-opo crown quest.

Like I said, I'm reaching back a few years. I may be wrong, but give it a try and see if you have better results.
