Trumpet Shells in Vunkerl (sp?) Inlet are pretty good money if you can find a Bonecrafter to sell to. About same catch rate as Black Sole.

I've been wondering about these for a while. I'm 100+6 BC so can synth all the catches, but asking around I've heard the bite rate is shit and I would make better gil on fish that I can just npc.

I've fished for Trumpet Shells a few times and it took 1-2 hours to get a stack of them. Some days they'd bite a lot others I'd get more rusty stuff. Which wasn't bad when they were 60K/stack, but kind of bad now that they're 21K.

Yea, i've tried trumpet shells, and it took me multiple trips to the bridge to fish them, and each time I caught 2-3 shells in about an hour, it was horrible. I caught rusty items like every cast, so I finally gave up.

Hmmm. I never had such bad luck with Trumpet Shells. I spent a Saturday fishing them with Rogue and was able to pull up about 180 of them in 8hrs with breaks for snacks and lunch. Just gotta cancel all the !!! and choose your !'s carefully. Of course, trumpets are so slow to wear down I dont think it is possible to confuse them with items.

Unfortunately, I have yet to sell the damn things.

i cant seem to find any other fish worth fishing (outside gugs and liks but hell i can do that with my lu shang lol)

cave cherax become much more worthwhile once you get ebisu. fishing gugs for a bit then spending the rest of your time fishing cherax can net you over 500k per day

What Juid said. Cave Cherax to NPC is one of the best npc gil sources available in fishing. You can make ~320k/day just selling Cherax to npc, but takes like 8hrs Ive heard. Good for weekend fishing for sure. I'd probably just stick to Nashmau/Talacca for the rest of the week.

Ya it all depends on how much time you wanna devote. If you just wanna make some quick gil Talacca is pretty nice with Ebisu. Bite rate is great and you can wear them down a lot faster than with lu shangs so you can get to 200 quicker.

i wanted to ask and get some additional input, I bet I know the answer already but I just HATE spending gil. Currently lvling up fishing on my 75 mule. Figure 2 chars = twice the profits etc. I went through the hell of not having lushang's until 55 on my main due to sheer stubborness. Probably best to just bite the bullet, spend the 2.somethingmil for a lushang's on my mule and lvl fishing that way....eh?

Well, yep is best way to do it and start making money with ur mule in no-time ^^. i lvled a mule to @70 with my main's (quested) lu shangs, and i'm so crazy i quested the mule's too >.> so took me @1 months to get my 2nd lu... to be honest, i don't recomend u this XD! but i wasn't on the way to spend a single gil on any item that can be obtained by quest, and after lvling my main char's fishing to 100, having lu since lvl 21 :E.

Sooo too much talking and w/e, but in the end YES, buy a Lu, u'll start to make a profit a few days only, and if fishing with it on 2 chars, even faster. go ahead and dun be a n00b like meh

I've been thinking of taking up fishing but have a couple questions. I got ~14 fishing back in the day, and currently have a friend offering me his Lu Shang's for a few days to see if I can get into it enough to warrant buying my own rod. People in the past few pages have mentioned doing Nebs to 27 to profit. Which bait would I use?

If I'm reading Wiki right, Crayfish Paste doesn't catch any other fish but Nebs on the boat. Is it worth the inventory space? Is it easy enough to tell when I have higher level fish to cancel them and just use a Shrimp Lure?

lol my god this is going back like 4-5 years for me, but i think i used a shrimp lure. (invo should not be a prob now if you got the extra space my bag is full of lik (lol gogo stock of 200+ got some on mules even lol shits sell SLOW. edit: oh wait i think im down to like 100 now someone bought a tone last few days <3)

Shrimp lure in Sea Serpent Grotto at the pond in the room with the Gold, silver bstcoin doors. (i'm assuming you have a high enough character to not get aggro there) and just cancel any !!!'s and cancel the Bastore Breams (you'll know them cause you won't be able to bring them in). I suggest SSG because the ship you have to bother with zoning in and out every trip, as well as sea horror running around.

or....just send your main's lu shangs to your mule <.<

The problem when using a lure is that if for some reason you pull something that is not a nebimonite (items, i.e) u have a high chance of breaking the line and losing the lure. That's why Crayfish paste owns at lower levels. Same thin applies to Sea Serpent Grotto, and you will find that a lot more item baits there.
