Maybe it's just me, I dont really see the point of leveling fishing on mule. I guess it could give you more profits on weekends or if you are unemployed, but I just dont have the time.

Also, Shrimp lure for nebs, but dont pull up items (you can tell as they reel in real fast).

I level it on my 75 blm, 100+3 bc mule =p Mostly because I can do the synths on her where ever she happens to be, but also in part to having more room on her and the fact that I can leave her basically where ever I want and fish on my laptop while I'm doing other things on my pc.

Well, I don't know about that - I think its possible to skill to like what, 96 solely using a Shrimp Lure and then moving to a few different locations?

I don't find it strange that a majority of the larger "legendary" fish all use the same type of bait. At least its not ONLY drill Calamary.

yea, leveling fishing on a Mule is always really "fishy" to me too, the only situation I can see where it would help is if you're like camping Kings, or something else with windows, to where you can pay attention to your fishing for 28 minutes every window. If people are actively playing 2 accounts and fishing on 2 accounts, I applaude their ambidextrous hands and minds, managing fish fighting on 2 accounts at the same time; Or I suspect some guest in their home named "3rd party application" is fishing for them.

fish at work with 1 char/craft, screw around do my work. Fish with other char when I get home and do events on my main. Its really quite simple <_< oh 3rd party program. icwhutudidthere.

Fishing on a mule makes perfect sense to me. When I got back into fishing I actually wished I had level 30ish on a mule not on my main. While it's not incredibly difficult to move my main to selbina or nashmau whatever zone it may be, it would be a heck of a lot easier to simply log on a mule and fish. Over time, all the minutes I spend running to my fishing location and transferring gear back from satchel to head to events will add up. Not to mention while I'm standing around waiting for an event to begin I could have been fishing. I don't know about most of you but I fish for the gil, and it's easier to dbox myself gil than to constantly move back and forth between LS event and fishing spot.

I guess I've learned to love the ability of leaving a mule somewhere through having a 75 TH4 mule who has been in Lufaise meadows for the past 5 months. Before I took up fishing I used to use him to camp megalo in my downtime. I'm currently 14/140ish with him, but like I said he really hasn't been touched since I took up fishing. I didn't realize how much downtime I have in this game until I had something I could do while staring at my moogle or without a constant time sink of moving/equipping my main.

Don't get me wrong though, I understand why people would think it's fishy.

edit: i remember when I wanted to seek cor, but also fish, it would have been great to seek cor in whitegate, while fishing on a mule on the ferry or in nash.

Tbh, I travel all around the world for Guild Fish anyways, so unless I didnt care about building GP at all, mule fishing is out for me. I guess it would be cool to just jump to mule and be in the saddle.

I am also quite lucky in having only one job (though I have my locker and storage full of mid-level blm and nin gear >.>). I'm sure if I had multiple 75s that I needed to gear well for events and whatnot I would be hard-pressed to even keep my satchel and inventory free. I sure hope there doesnt come a day I dont have room to fish ; ;.

Came here to rant about SE being evil and trying to kill my desire to fish: 9 consecutive pelican charges without a skillup (my previous worst was 3). Then I get:

1 full level in 20 minutes. I'm sure I'll pay the price and it'll be a week before I get another skillup, but was fun while it lasted.

Got serpent rumors last week....can't reel in Lik for shit though (85 w/ Albatross). Guess it's more grind to 90+ and whole lotta fun w/ Marlins for me >.>

So i'm wondering if the ebisu is really worth it. I can repair lu shangs no problem, and I see that ebisu gets snap lines on legendaries too..

What exactly does ebisu hold over lu shangs? I am pulling up 4-5 liks and hour, and am gettign twice as many line snaps. whats the nsap rate on ebisu, a helluva lot lower I hope?

If the ebisu rarely snaps it's line then it may be worth it, but I dunno if I'd be willing to go and fish up 300-400 legendaries just so I dont need to bring a stack or two of light crystals with me...

Also if one were to win the tier (3?) mogbonanza, would you recommend getting opal silk or the saber shoot?

cave cherax become much more worthwhile once you get ebisu.

What's the difference? I tried fishing them for skill, but only got a Cherax bite about 1/8 of the time with Lu/Meatball, so I went back to Armored Pisces (1/4 and don't need to mess with bait).

Supposedly, the bite rate on Cherax goes up quite a bit when you have Ebisu. That and only 5% line snaps give you about 25% catch rate. This is just what I have heard. Tbh, Ebisu can make you more money (via Cherax, Gugs, and Liks), or it can just be a status item. Really depends on how much you fish and how much you care.

I personally dont really need it to make money fishing, but Ive wanted it since I first found out about 2 or so years ago and I am going to have it lol. One of my major goals in this game. Did I mention it can make more money?

I am in the same boat as you atm, well i do not think the same boat as we are not on the same server.

I am 0/450 now, I fished a few and bought a few last night. I have now given up only fishing them as I did with lik and the 1st 400 gugs. I got some gil to blow so im buying any gugs i see for under 17k now. Also fishing about 30-50 a day. i am very busy this weeked so that is going to slow me down but I really hope by next weekend with any luck ill have my E rod^^

I have been doing this quest for about 4 months now(again) and I started it 2 years back but quit fishing

For me now, it's all about getting the *relic* of fishing. I make more money then i need using a Lu shang's Fishing Rod.

I do wish you luck on the 2nd item, but gugs are not as easy to get. They put up much more of a fight(read HP) and their drop rate seems to be a little lower then lik. GL!
