Quick pro-tip, if you're done fishing and going to whitegate for an event or something check the fishing guild assuming it's between 3-18 and not light* day. These ahtapots normally npc for 700g. Obviously they only take a certain limit per day, but hey more "free" gil is never a bad thing.

i am now 8 away from sucking more then every other fisher in the world lol. (i got a friend handing me 170 more later my god i hope i get it...)

My friend on Ramuh is now at like, 0/1200 Liks now. So don't feel too bad. I think he finally finally gave up.

Said that "I should have sold them all". Heck, 20k a pop times 1200....24,000,000 gil....yeah....if it were me, had I known I was doomed to not get Opal Silk, I would have done that too. Hindsight always 20/20 of course, but still....

I've been told it's impossible to catch liks/gugras with my current set up, skill 79, +4 armor skill, lu shangs, albatross ring (no penguins yet)

Yet I seem to have very little trouble catching these. I sometime run out of time when the fish is a little fussy, but I generally can get the fish to 0 right around when I get the running out of time message.

I've even managed to pull in a few with 3-5% hp left if I do get low on time. It's too the point my friend is convinced I fish bot >_>;

I also use the guilds enhancement, full tier, and do find I have a helluva lot more trouble reeling in the fish when I forget it, to the point I'll risk getting off WG ferry, grabbing it, and running back just becuase it seems to improve my skill so much.

Without it I'm getting nearly twice the line snaps, get often back to back to back rod breaks, and have trouble even pulling in one gugra.

With it my snap to land ratio is almost 50:50 and my rod pretty much never breaks.

Also, I have the big one in my mh, dunno if its giving me that big of a boost though, and its not even dominant atm, currently have tier 3 exp boost.

When I tweak it though I have overwhelming fishing skill, maybe should go get that...

I dunno, so many people telling me what I'm doing is semi impossible or just really really hard, I wonder if there's something different I did?

I did get the testimonial and they bought there lu shangs... And don't some people feel the test gives some form of fishing enhancment?

The key item as far as I can tell is BS. Higher skill = faster fishing that is all. at 99 skill I never run out of time on lik. Gugs once in a blue moon I might. (they dont lose hp as fast so ya.)

As for if im giving up? na theres little for me to do with my gil anymore. Ya I could HQ a few things, but fishing is something I like way to much to give up on. Id rather spend the gil there then doing like 5% more dmg on my blm (well maybe its more like 7% WITH S ring.)

I like fishing. So I will not be giving up. My jobs can do their well jobs just fine. I am putting the gil into what i like^^.

I have my order of things I am doing

1)E rod
2)S ring> G body for blm
3)relic horn/morg body

That is what is on my plate now. So what would 24mil really do? Get me the S ring/Gbody(cool) and stage 1-2 done of relic(this does nothing). That is how I see it.

it can be soloed(litle hard but iv done it 2 times now i failed 1st two times soloing)

and duoed is very easy too.

solo= wait for mobs to pop>2hr>use it(with yag drink/ ethers rdy)> run to the zone as your pet dies> call it use again(Hope you dont die as your pet rdys its BP)>use hi pots if needed(i needed to use 3-4)> run back to BCNM area>use last AF as needed.

it can be a little hard at 1st took me a few trys to get it down.

duo id say you only need to do 1 run because 4 AF should kill them.


edit: i shoudl say that there seems to always be one mob not dead after 3 AF's so be rdy to outlast it with a little kiteing if need be.

Yeah thats the sahigan, he has a notable amount more hp than the other 2.

Thats why I wait for ice/lightningday and the added elemental boost to your summons is just enough to finish him off. :D

45% you will get.

Roughly, how do these numbers change for Ebisu? Obviously the rod can not break but do you see any less line snaps or skill losses?

Secondly, if you were to be 90+ and focused on liks/gugs only about how many could you pull up in a given day? I doubt many people hit the 200 a day limit?

edit: We always see the lucky 1/20s here and the unlucky 0/1200, for the people who have been monitoring this thread for years, what does the AVERAGE seem to be?

Even if you fished straight from jp midnight till next jp midnight I dont think you'll even hit 100. Most I've done so far with Lu was about 45 with about 8hr of fishing.

not really. they dont really start slowing down till about 90 or so.

Up until that point I almost always got 2 lvls a day without pelican ring.

Ahh from reading some other replies here I didn't realize it was possible to pull Gugs in with just Albatross, I thought you also needed the other one that depletes stamina faster. Good news there.

edit: oh damn just notice liks and gugs both break lu, I don't have WW so I'd have to dbox to a friend. Does it break often?

Liks can be pulled up with just Albatross but Gugrusaurus are pretty much impossible to pull up without penguin and albatross rings.

Liks and gugs will break lu very frequently. If you plan on going for ebisu you pretty much need WW lvled or have someone there to fix the rod every time it breaks. If you dont you will be spending way to much time traveling to get it fixed

as far as catch rate with ebisu i'd say line breaks occur about 20-25% of the time, maybe less. i can generally catch 3-4 gugs per trip on a good day, so at about 12 an hour in optimal conditions, it would take quite some time to get to 200. with lu shangs i probably only averaged 1-2 per trip.
