Fuck, no he's right, they 700 also. Messed it up.
So my fiance decided he'd start fishing as it's something we can do on lazy nights while watching TV. So he got fishing gear, a Halcyon rod and some shrimp lures and headed out to SSG on my suggestion. He was complaining to me about how terrible it was and how few fish he'd gotten. I assumed he was whining about nothing and said I'd try fishing on him my next day off - which is today.
It's terrible! I've been fishing for over an hour and haven't gotten a single fish. All I've been catching are monsters - when I don't get a "You didn't catch anything" message. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I went there with almost the same setup (borrowed a Lu Shang's from a friend) at 14 fishing and it went quick and easy. For reference, he's 3 fishing.
Any suggestions? Should I tell him to just go fish moats til 11 and then try SSG again?
Depends on the market. If there are Ebisu questers out there actively buying liks/gugs you could easily make 500k+ every day fishing up 10 or 20 lik/gugs and AHing/Bazaaring them then spending the rest of your time fishing up cave cherax and npcing them. Takes about 8-10 hours of fishing.
Talacca is still a good option though if you're pressed for time and wanna make some quick gil but the lik/gug market is stagnant. With ebisu you could probably reach the ~200 limit in about 3-4 hours.
Been loving Armored Pisces lately. Straight to npc it's 195k a dayoh, with lots and lots of patients though. Talacca cove is still favorite for fishing to cap and not wanting to kill myself afterwards.
Armored Pisces are nice if you dont have WW leveled or dont have Ebisu. But if you do, Cave Cherax will yield ~320k a day
I warped him back to Sandy and tried carps and it went a lot better than SSG. I'll tell him to do moats til 11 and check out SSG again.
I think I may have been in that spot, but the boy says he wasn't so I'm guessing skill was the problem. However, I will definitely keep that in mind for when we go back.
Thanks for the help all! =D
P.S. someone asked with skill ups slowed down... Mid 80's.
I've been stuck 84-86 for like 2 weeks, fishing 100+ fish every weekday and 50 or so on weekends! Grrrr

Are you fishing in Nashmau? Cause before 86, you have possible skillup on all fish you are pulling up. After 86, you are only getting possibility of skillups on Ahtapots. Either bear with it (I stayed till 90), or move to a place where more than 50% of your fish are above your skill cap. Qufim and Talacca come to mind.
With Lu I found Cherax bite rate to be about half that of pisces (1/8 vs. 1/4), and you lose some fish to line breaks, and you have to mess with bait. Once I used up all my meatballs from the first run I went back to Pisces. The only advantage of fishing Cherax is that you can farm Angel Skin at the same time.
I have found Talacca Cove and Vunkerl Inlet to both be about 40k/hr with Lu Shang; you just hit your cap faster in Talacca, need more inventory space and get your gil from NPC rather than AH. Pisces are more like 25k/hr. Cherax maybe 20k/hr. None of these counting travel/crafting time, just fishing time.
Ding level 70 fishing. Fished up a Ca Cuong @ 70 and got .2
Qufim is not a bad spot to fish like once a week on my server. At some point the AH is dead and has no squids on it. At that point I sometimes fish there. They sell so fast when the AH is dead. The rate gil is better then nash at 2500gil a fish(and sometimes i can push it to 3,000 if its really dead)
Its worth it sometimes(other times i cna be stuck with the squids for a week or more, but i just mule them and sell them slowly)
You just cant fish them all the time, its like a once a week to once every 2 weeks thing if you aim for like 100+ of them, you also have to be smart i never lower my price under what is showing the last 10 sales.
and that is fine if you ask me an extra like 100k added for the day(even if it takes time to sell them) is worth it if you dont need the gil right then and there. Also lets face it its nice to go to a new zone from time to time lol.
