random fact: lsmate with level 8 skill and Halcyon rod can pull up Istiridye np. I really wonder if you can do them 0-53

edit: line snapped after like pulling 10 in, I'll bet you can do 0-53 off them with a lu, but with halcyon it will be too many lost robber rigs.

No clue if there are line snaps with them or not, but I did it pre Halcyon Rod and still gold mine, gold people used it for making black pearls or something. I can not tell you if it is still like that.

So... I was fishing Marlins for rings quest to start fishing Lik/Gugrus, then Pirates come on boat. I got Serpent Rumors already, and also got 7 Drill Calamary in inventory in that moment, but not Motching key item.

I decide to "try" fish Gugrus just to check how hard are, but for my surprise I was able to pull 1 from the 7 Drill Calamary, the only one who bait of those 7, without any ring at all lol...

So rare/ex bait help too even without Motching key item? I though this only help if you got the key item. Didn't get any screenshot because I fish in 360 onry but doesn't matter.

PD: Traded and nothing of course, so I'm 0/1 on Gug :D way to go!

Sorry for randomly jumping in with a question, but I figured it'd just be easier to ask instead of trying to dig backwards through this giant thread to find the most recent information.

I took about a year and a half off from the game, so I'm pretty out of touch. In that time, a lot of things related to fishing seem to have been nerfed heavily to inhibit RMTs. Where's the current best place to fish for profit with the odd skillup? I'm not at all concerned with getting to Fishing 100, I'd mostly just like to make money, and skillups are an incidental benefit. When I quit, I used to spend a lot of time at the lake in SSG doing this, but is this still the best?

I'm currently Fishing 58, with a Lu Shang rod.

Not sure what your servers economy is like, or what kind of gil you're hoping to make, but during that stretch I just fished in Nashmau and typically made a little under 30k/hr just NPC'ing the catches. Might be better options, but the convenience factor just made it that much more attractive to me.

Yup what he said. Nash with shrimp lure until like 87 if I remember right I posted a little guide a few pages back but I'm on my phone. Npc everything and find some bg media threads to read in the process lol

Is there something that I'm missing that would make that better than SSG? Seems that it's almost equivalent to SSG, but without the additional benefit of Nebimonites that sell pretty well. Is it just that you can NPC everything and don't have to wait for a ton of Grimmonites to sell on the AH, or something else? The prices on my server for the SSG versions of these fish are much higher than what the NPC will pay for the Nashmau ones, so I'm just wondering why you'd choose Nashmau.

I can't speak for the others, but I've been focusing pretty hard on fishing and trying to pull up 100 if not 200 fish per day to reach fatigue. I've never been to SSG personally, but I imagine storing 100+ grims per day even if you sell 20 a day on the AH would be pretty difficult after a couple days.

nashmau is seen as a great place for 3 reasons(maybe 4)
1)npc is right behind you, if you do not have time and just want to make gil you can fish there for 2-3hrs get most the 200 fish a day and sell them for around 150k.
2)you can skill up to 99 there
3)bite rate is so fucking good.
4)no monsters(this is the maybe)

there are better places to fish once you have higher skill, and a E rod or WW at 75ish, but nash is just great because of the stated above.
