Fuck you fuckers and your fucking opal fucking silks
Fuck you fuckers and your fucking opal fucking silks
grats man.
and ya gugs seem to screw people over
Going to start woodworking on my 2nd account to prepare for this quest... Got 50k GP on the apron left, then Rumors... have to get WW to 80 by then...
Grats to cdgreg for the silk!
Grats, that's insane. >.>
I'd also like to ask you other Talacca Cove fisherman: Does the bite rate there tend to suck more often than not? I've had days where I get 5+ no catches per one bite, that's assuming it isn't a monster. Using a Lu/Shrimp Lure for references sake, in the event there is a better bait/lure to use.
Finally, I'd just like to add...

omfg, I love pelican ring. XD
I'm with Indy.
I'm going to smack Zaldon over the head with the next Lik I bring there.
And to the above asking about Talacca, I remember fishing there some days and the bite rate being low, but it usually improved after a little while. Can't remember if I ever specifically nailed down what caused it.
Just got fishing 100, on gugrusarus and those only give me +0.3s. I tried fish them some time ago with both rings but it didnt work very well ( way too difficult). Then I learned that having one pair of each ring is soo good to avoid wasting charges and time, so I worked on those ( 2/7 penguin, lucky me). Then I discvocered the PC-slowing method which is fucking great, they are easier then liks now >.> (nashmau-whitegate ferry).
Spoiler: show
Slowing down your PC really does make a huge difference. If I try to fish on my main PC (which is a pretty nice gaming PC) without doing anything to slow it down, it's almost impossible to catch anything, the rod whips back and forth like crazy.
What are you using to slow yours down?
In reference to the Talacca question: As a 66ish fisherman with +4 gear +MH I find the bite rate in Talacca to be a bit better than Nash most of the time, however, I find the fish to be harder to reel in. I'm not sure if it's because there's less lag in the zone or what, but even the mercs give me a serious fight there compared to the Nash mercs.
So in summary, I'm sticking with Nash until at least the 70s.
I have noticed that when there is a weather effect active in Talacca (Usually Dark weather), you will mainly get rusty and monster bites.
yeah lik with 2 rings and no slow down are easy. For gugrusaurus I use the program I found on forums ( maybe here) called CPU killer, drag the slider until I get 10 frame rate/sec exactly. Somehow, less then that make them also impossible lol.
Caves take forever to fish O.o lol and a manta owned me because i forgot they pop there LOL and i had no gear to kill it ~_~
still i made 250k there and have like 50 fish im go after later in T cove.
finally dinged 100 last week
grats O.o im still not 100 LOL
I'll have to hunt down CPU killer. Ive tried lagging through dual boxing but my god that makes fishing even simple fish for me near impossible because I keep adding stamina back, then again I was holdiing it down not tapping
prob should not say it yet. but <3ing the e rod so much
went cave fishing really slow like i was told. So i fished 100 last night and 100 in the morning.
then di 100 more after the update. followed with 50 fast ones in the cove. and am fishing lik now !_!
10/10 on lik no line snaps yet an thank god for no rod breaks! woot lol
edit:by 100 i mean around lol idk if it really was 100. going off my gil.
Do you have a crack for CPU killer or a cracked version you can up? I found the free version that times out every 20 mins which I guess isn't that big of a deal
edit: man, anything below about 12-13 FPS and I cant pull in shit, even at 15 FPS I suck. Do you guys have to tap deplete? I normally hold down for ahtapots/mercs but definitely cant do that while lagging myself. Closed the program and went back to having np reeling them in
$30 for CPU Killer, what a ripoff. Here's a similar program that's free: Download CPU Speed Adjuster 0.8 - Slow down your PC so that you can run all your old programs - Softpedia
My problem is that my computer is dual-core, and the CPU-slowing programs tend to end up slowing down the opposite core that FFXI is on, so it doesn't affect the game at all.
EDIT: starting a couple instances of it seems to work ok to hit both cores.
