Ahtapot are "!!!" and you can also fish up mobs, but with a Lu Shang's it's pretty easy to tell unless on the rare occurrence you get "not sure" message where you can't really tell if it's a mob or a fish.

Usually I just abort in that case, I don't want to run the risk of getting myself killed. If it's a fish, I'm willing to sacrifice one fish to avoid risking getting pwnt by something I fish up.

Can't you just not touch the rod for like 5 seconds and see if the bar depletes. If it depletes = mob, if it does not move = fish?

lik are the same just one ring needed the albatross

as far as im told the E rod gives you less time to land fish, but takes them out faster. Lik to me are much more easy. Gugs i have not fished yet so cant tell

random fact: lsmate with level 8 skill and Halcyon rod can pull up Istiridye np. I really wonder if you can do them 0-53

edit: line snapped after like pulling 10 in, I'll bet you can do 0-53 off them with a lu, but with halcyon it will be too many lost robber rigs.

Had my fiance move from SSG to Nash after I got a Lu for him off the AH. He was 11 fishing with Rogue/Lu and fished 200 Istiridye and no line snaps. So can't say anything about 0-11, but 11+ definitely works.

88 fishing, decided to take a break from the level grind and focus on my quest for Ebisu. Been saving a ton of Bluetails on my mule for when I start going after Penguin Ring again (0/7) and decided to spend some time on a boat (look at me!). So two days ago, I go and fish up ~50 marlins, a few Ryugu, and head to the NPC.

Trading my Ryugu first, I end up going 1/5 on Merc Sword. At that point, I figured it might be an awesome day for me. 8 trades later, my screen does a hick-up (360 ftl) and know an item has loaded. Unfortunately, I get the chart I don't need and start looking for some SMNs to help with the Pirate's Chart fight. Do fight, win, no M Kris but was able to help a friend out who needed the Alb. Ring so wasn't totally worthless. Head back to Selbina to trade in more fish, and on the first trade.... ANOTHER Pirate's Chart ;;. Get lucky on a Wild Card from friend's alt, and go do fight again, no drop again but ring went to another friend (who, btw, has both his Ebisu items and only 77 Fishing /RAGE). Head back, trade 10 fish, get another Pirate's Chart...

Same deal, Wild Card, fight, no drop. Turn in rest of fish, no more charts, continue next day. Got dicked with rod breaks again, so only had time to fish up ~35 marlins. Go and trade marlins in before logging out, and get Brigade's Chart near the end of my supply! Go today to do the quest, hoping for ring. Unfortunately, 360 lag screwed me out of fishing up the 4th chest and timed out....

Now I'm to the point where I might just offer to buy a Ring from someone else because it does not seem possible for me to accomplish getting the 4th or 5th chest in time. I am, however, upgrading to a good PC soon so I'm hoping that might solve my problem with lag. Might just buy the Ebisu fish also, but really wanted to catch all my fish -_-

I've always read that console fishing is a lot easier than high end PC fishing. I slow my PC down with CPUkiller to induce some lag, 30 FPS makes the rod go crazy

probably. better off going 0-27 in SSG though. you can make 2-3 mil off nebs in that time

How long is it taking you higher-level fishers to cap out in a day though? At 51, I can't see myself fishing up 200 Ahtapots/Mercanbaligi in less than 6 hours. It's nice that I can do it while seeking on my PLD55 and I don't have to bother with the AH, but I can make my ~150k in a third as much time farming if I wanted.

Have been doing Armored pisces lately for 195k a day for pretty much the same 8 hours(would start and stop so dunno exactly how long) but now that I'm 92 I figured I would try trumpet shells since that's a potential 340k+HQ's synthing them. After about a day and a half of doing them I'm having second thoughts again though -.- They are so strange, sometimes I'll go an hour and get 10 and another hour I'll get 40. Kinda rushed to high level so haven't accumulated enough GP for apron yet, which might make a slight difference. Really have only been doing the GP when the fish are ready on the AH though, lol.

Doing it with a mule might get really annoying really fast, unless you can double box it. not only that, but the mule would then require access to tavnazia and WG.

Might be better off hunting down a lv 70ish WW looking to skill up WW cheap and fast.

It's a pretty cheap and fast craft, a couple sticky points you just gotta shoulder your way through via pocketbook, but other than that 70 WW doesn't take too long

Hey guys, i've been wondering this for a while but... are fish closer to your level more likely to skill you up rather then fish that are way above your level given you have the same rate of fishing them up? thanks
