As per the whole moon affecting the bite rates... Remember the brady guide? It had couple pages on fishing...
" Favorable Conditions for Fishing:
* The best times to fish are at dawn, 5:00-6:00, and dusk, 17:00-18:00. the night is the next best time.
* Fish are easiest to catch during the new moon and full moon lunar phases- around the time of high and low tides.
* Fish seem to bite more when the surface if the water is rippled (instead of smooth) by the wind, or during cloudy and rainy weather. "

Well finally figured out a decent slow down method for my PC. I was having a hell of time with a dual core processor and 4 gigs of ram. CPUKiller was either doing nothing or I had to set it so high ffxi was choppy and therefore impossible to reel in. I tried out CPUGrabber someone listed on the previous page, set ffxi to core0 normal priority, cpugrabber to core0 high priority, opened ANOTHER CPUGrabber since 1 wasn't even lowering FPS and set it to core0 high priority. One is at 47%, one is at 44% with all that my PC usage is between 52-70 and memory is at 1.85 gb. It's keeping my FPS at about 14-16 with a fish on the line, the rod still seems to whip a bit, but not nearly as bad if I was at full 28 FPS. Depletion seems to be a lot faster this way though, even though it's not making such a huge different on the rod snapping. I'm going to try lik's tomorrow for an LSmate with 80 fishing + albatross + Ebisu, that should help me hone in CPUgrabber
I have a Lizy lure and it is used for something. Forget what fish however its best at pulling up one of the fish that the guild asks for. Its the only reason i have lures and i have one ~_~ lol
17% moon in Nashmau seems to be unlucky. I got 5 bites in half an hour of fishing earlier today. >.>
wow i started on nasumah and gained mad skill ups (well 2 skill a day is pretty mad enough to me for skill 78(arthars, w00t ebisu quest!) and skill 84(my wife))
thanks for the advise XD
Got the same thing in Nashmau fishing this last saturday, caught an Ahtapot and it gave me .1 and a .2 right afterwards, same fish. I had Pelican ring enchantment on. that was quite possibly my hottest fishing session ever - went from 63.0-65.1 in 2 hours of fishing using pelican ring, total of 5 charges used on ring.
At 81 with Ebisu + Support on my normal PC I didn't have a chance in hell of pulling up Liks. So, I installed ffxi on my gfs old Dell Inspiron Laptop with a 1.3ghz Celeron and a whopping 128 MB of RAM. Sure enough, with Ebisu and 81 skill + support I am able to pull up Liks staring at the most horrendous looking screen plucking away at a compact keyboard. Once I have the stomach of going through the lag to send the SS to my main PC I'll post a pic here for the lulz.

I'm @88 skill and I can weaken them, but they snap so many lines it's insane...
Think I hooked 15 before I gave up: 1 got away before I weakened, 2 snapped rods, caught 2, and 10 snapped lines despite being at 0 hp.
yea my PC cannot catch liks until i load up another ffxi, parking at wg AH, and got 4 out of 7 catches
3 snapped
so 7/7 wins
anyway for brigand chart question: does the ring only have a chance to appear at 4th and 5th BOX?
or they appear on the box at 4th and 5th CATCH?
eg. mob > box > box > box = chance??
or mob > box > box > box > box = chance
any luck his 3rd box was a 4th catch?
i was thinking 4th and 5th catch are the highest chance
because if it really need 4th box to get a good chance for ring...then the chance of having a 5th catch, and open the last box is gotta be soooooooooo low since there is a high chance you get a pugil every run and wil need that last final catch/box![]()
arthars did you try that cpugrab program i posted earlier to slow your comp down?
O_O where!
lemme search XD
just right click the process in task manager and set affinity for both pol.exe and cpugrab.exe to the same core and set cpugrab to high priority, should work fine that way. if it doesn't slow it down enough open another cpugrab instance and do the same. a single one @80% works for me this way and i am running 3.2ghz
yea it worked and i like it alot :D dont have to open many ffxi anymore hehehe
anyway im very curious...and brigand chart already irritating me atm....i seem to get a ratio of 3 pirate : 1 bugard chart, spamming 100 marlins to zaldon per day.....and 0/10 on penguin ring on the damn BC........i got 10 kris out of the 40-50 bcs i done, but i really want a penguin now bad so stopped spamming that bc and kept it in satchel so i can single out brigand
is penguin really needed for a 95 skill fisherman + albatross ring to reel up gugs and zik on a regular basis? im not talking about snap and break rod, those are pretty common i think....you think i can actually deplete the fishes on a regular basis?
i really wanna skip penguin ring -_-
