I just recently (yesterday) returning to fishing again.
I've read some guides and wiki's, but nothing better than actual fishermans advices.

The Big question is:
Should i be bothered to quest Lu Shang's now? My Skill is 20.3.

Doing some skill ups in Selbina <> Mhaura Boat for Nebimonites, good or not really?

I have access to a alt acc with fishing 88 and Lu Shang's Rod, but since im trying to get Mkris for several reasons, i decided to level my own acc to get chart's faster. Been reading this thread as well, so, fuck buying Liks/Gugrusaurus for the alt acc for now <.>

I agree with your ultimate point, but not the method of achieving it. I'm in the camp that says if you have the gil for it, and your primary purpose is leveling fishing then just buy the lu. You'll make the gil back a lot faster, while skilling, than if you spend 3 months fishing up moats. D

on't get me wrong, it's a great achievement, but that's all it is if you can simply afford to buy one right away.

FWIW, my skillup rates on various fish along the way, not distinguishing between 0.1s and 0.2s:

Dil 8/225 (3.6%)
Black Sole 30/442 (6.8%)
Armored Pisces 18/714 (2.5%)
Pterygotus 13/246 (5.3%)
Cave Cherax 4/53 (7.5%) (3 of them line breaks)

you dont necessarily need to stop everything and focus on Lu Shangs, but you should start working toward it immediately. i would recommend just buying it off AH instead of questing it. sell all the fish you catch as you lvl. continue doing nebimonites until 27 then go on to shall shells till 53. at that point you should be at least halfway with gil if not closer. at that point stop everything and focus on getting the rest of the gil. go back and fish up nebimonites till you can afford it. probably take a week at that point

its not dangerous,but you can still deplete all your MP even as a rdm 75

it can still hit u for 40-50 per hit and fully resisted to sleep

4-5 battles max prolly if you start off with 2 charts only + gutting time + travelling time

I did extensive testing on holding the pugil and doing this event quest.

The pugil tends to double in strength every 10 minutes iirc, but it really isn't that bad. Once you zone the pugil (zoning it into Bibiki Bay is preferable), and you zone back, it will not only automatically claim to you when within aggro range (sound), but the pugil will have reset to normal strength.

While it is possible to have someone else hold the pugil while you go back and turn in more marlin for another chart, for whatever reason I had a hell of a time getting a second chart (traded 100 marlin while mob was held, no brigand's chart). Later, however, I had my partner again hold the mob, and I got another brigand's chart after 51 marlin (though I logged out/in after turning in 36 of those, to see if resetting my aggro on the pugil allowed me to receive another chart).

Some with ring, some without, depending on whether or not I thought I'd be fishing for the whole duration. And yes, that probably affects the data.

as for lushang, i recommend you to just skill up and sell fishes along the way. you will get back the money you spend on a lushang than to quest it

trust me, its 2009 now, and questing lushang and fish 10k coaps is waste of time
lemme try to break down in minor details on what you miss out, fishing 10k coaps:
1. prolly 30-40 fishing skills
2. opportunity to get contract and get GP faster
3. opportunity to maybe get lucky and get 1-2 kris when you skilling up during marlins range, which eventually can become 3-6m profit, which can get you another lushang lol
4. get closer to tag ebisu quest

however this is the only thing i think you will miss out of u did not do lushang quest:
1. the lame testimonal lmao

fishing has changed alot since then. if you quested and got lushang way back, thats ok since thats the only thing we can target in fishing at that time.
the real target you should be looking at in fishing now, is ebisu

Fisherman's Signboard, Fishing Hole Map, and The Big One *do not* stack correct? So no matter how many of those you have in your MH, Moghancement: Fishing Skill is only +1? Therefore, there's really no reason to get either the map or signboard other than being able to put furniture with higher aura strength than 5 in your MH?

Signboard give you Moglification: Fishing, "Moogle-powered assistance from your Mog House. Increases your fishing skill, and makes it slightly easier to reel in your catch.
" with either one of the furnishing that give +fishing skill.

My main problem is that im currently broke lol, bought my Ares Cuirass last week...

I do have a friends acc/alt acc with high fishing + Lu shang's that i use to catch marlins, but only recently, should i bother to buy a Lu shang's for me? or just "lend" that one and go for ebisu's like u said Arthars? (Altho i need high fishing... 88+? unsure)

Lame, got impatient cause I wanted to do more pirate charts and don't really NEED penguin ring anymore since I got the gugru drop, pugil first cast, and timed out right after i fished out the 4th chest

i kinda just give up when i got a mob

i still recommend you to do it the "higher chance" way tho

1 ID/friend sacrifice chart, keep pugil, you spam marlins to zaldon and do as much BC as you can before you run out of marlins or when pugil rage

Mine has been streaky as hell in the upper 80s. I'll get pretty much 3 back to back .2s and then go 6-7 pelican charges with nothing.

So I recently learned that stacking the signboard with the big one adds faster depletion on fish. This has caused me to re-think GP spending order. I was originally thinking apron>waders>furniture. But now I'm thinking apron>signboard or maybe even signboard>apron. What do you guys think? I plan on fishing mostly legendaries for profit assuming there are buyers.
