Friend of mine with penguin + tier 3 moglification drops liks like they're rusty buckets.

Not only that, the signboards aura strength is much higher than big one's, giving you more leeway with MH furniture and an easier time building up to overwhelming strength.

200K GP is a lot though, and it depends on your method and what legendaries you prefer.

If you have a penguins and pelican ring, then apron is far better than moglification, since at a 3/4 item/mob bite rate vs gugra bite rate, apron almost doubles your bite rate and cuts time to catch x number of fish in half.

Moglification by itself on tier 1 or even 2 will not double rate you drop mobs hp. But if your fishing legendaries in an area with a much higher bite rate vs item rate on legendaries, like cave cherax in the kings, suddenly apron loses its potency and moglification gives you a better fish over time rate, I hate to say it but the rule still holds.

Thanks for the reply, and before I ask more questions I will preface it with although I've read up on moglifications and moghancements they still confuse the hell out of me, so feel free to talk to me like I'm a complete idiot and explain things thoroughly lol.

I know I shouldn't, but I originally assumed the skill could never go higher than +1 from furniture like "regular" crafts. Obviously fishing is different from regular crafts so I need to throw that direction of thinking right now.

When I check my key items, I have moghancement: fishing. Can moghancement itself be raised tiers to increase skill through "strengths", or only moglification? If so, where do I find out if it's tier 1 or 2? I *only* have the big one in my MH and various other storage pieces to have 80 slots, I do not have the fishing hole map or the signboard.

I don't mind spending the necessary gil to get myself overwhelming strength once I can figure out how that is possible. Thanks in advance for your help, and sorry for stupid questions.

When you talk to your moogle he'll state the strength of the aura, and you dont want enhancement fishing, you want enhancement fishing skill.

Fishing sucks, it increases bite rate of items. You have a rusty bucket in your mog house don't you?

Moghancement is given by all three furniture, it gives you fishing skill +1~3, depending on strength. If you combine either big one and signboard or map with signboard it'll turn into moglification, which adds a permanent penguin ring effect to your +1~3 skill.

The effect does appear to increase based on power of the aura.

I suggest looking at the BG wikis page on moghancments, it should have everything you need to know on that topic so you can go through your MHs items and see what items are overpowering the big one, which is probably everything since it has such a weak aura, opposed to signboards nigh untoppable aura.

im a noob as well in moghancements........but after reading throughly, i kinda get the idea.

So in order to achieve the ultimate tier 3 + DELICIOUS PERMA PENGUIN RING effect, i should be looking at:

Aura strength 10, Fisherman's Signboard (Fishing skill) x1
Aura strength 9, 9-Drawer Almirah (Water) x 10
Aura strength 5, The Big One (Fishing skill) x1

this will put signboard at rank 1, which is a 10 aura strength item, giving me fishing skill moghancement
total element strength is 105, giving me tier 3 overwhelming energy
the big one will allow me to move this tier 3 moghancement into moglification, giving me the full power

can i still get effects of penguin ring if i do lvl 1 moghancement and move it to moglification?
is there tiers in the penguin effect as well? or is it either NONE(lvl 1 and 2) or YES(lvl3) only?

K thanks. I def. Have moghancement fishing skill I went and double checked. I spent hours situating that awhile back so I'm glad it's not goofed up lol. No rusty buckets btw I went through the furnitures listed on wiki and bought up the ones weaker than the big one. I'll read through those links tonight while I'm fishing!

Huh, I always figured the elemental strength (weak, strong?, overwhelming) to be useless. It doesn't give any extra skill on other crafts, but it has bonuses for fishing..?

That just seems really weird to me, and kinda hard to swallow. (lolz) But, I'm not gonna just go and say that you're wrong, because I have no idea, you could be right, I could be wrong, so I think I'll just wait until someone else here can confirm some of those effects because that's the first I'm ever hearing of that. (no offense, this would be incredibly awesome if true, although it would mean losing my +1 clothcraft <.<)

I think it is possible for the other synths as well the higher power of aura might increase the potency of the break synth retain item effect, but since its already not that noticeable an increase wouldn't be noticed that much.

Whereas with fishing where you can directly see the effects the perma penguin ring effect is having on you, it makes it much more noticable if the aura strength is effecting it.

Question for myself...

Do you need frog fishing to catch the tricorn, same way you need rumours for liks and gugras? OR is it more of a mooching that make sit easier to catch tricorn?

I recall reading someoen said that they spent like 6 horus trying to catch tricorn withotu frog fishin, got it, and then immeaditly hooked him like 5 times, would like to confirm this...

So I'm less than 10k from Serpent Rumors and have a few questions:

1. I have a friend letting me use his character to fix my Lu, but his WW is only 59. It seems pretty easy to get to 72 - is an 8 level gap too high for a decent success rate?

2. How high is the rod break rate? I have access to at least 2 Lu's because I can steal my husband's, and could borrow a third from a friend or buy one outright. Would it be worthwhile to bring 3 (or more) with me if I try synthing at 72WW? I don't want too much down time waiting for my rod to be fixed.

3. How is the skill up rate on Liks/Gugs? I caught over 150 Sole the other day and only got .3 skill out of it. I'm feeling a bit emo. =(

lucky but I loved it lol. Made 500k and a whole skill level in one night!

Sitting at 55k GP, 60 fishing, just finished thf75 yesterday so it's time to go all out focus on this!

That gives me some hope! Since I got my Pelican's Ring last contest, my skill ups have died. I think it's defective =( lol I must have been ridiculously lucky with skill because I was easily getting 2 levels of fishing a day up to the mid 80s. Now I've been 88 for like 3-4 days now and it's driving me absolutely nuts! At least I'll be able to knock out both skilling and ebisu items on lik/gugs.

yes I found the gap is just too big. You'll waste 6-10 light crystals before you successfully fix it. Don't worry though , if you can get to 72 you can get to 75+ easily with ebony poles, they npc for over 4k so the gil loss isn't that bad.

I'm currenly 47.6, looking for a good spot. I had been fishing in Qufim for calamary, bluetail, and the occasional squid. But I've been supplementing that with fishing in Nashmau before Einherjar, with mixed results. The money in Nash is good, but the skillups haven't been awesome.

I hate hate hate catching Bluetail. Way too bitchy for a fish that low. Any suggestions on other places in that level? I've read the guides and know about the usual places- I was more thinking of out-of-the-way, unusual places for a change of pace. Any suggestions? I have a Lu.

What are you catching in Nashmau? I personally did Istiridye to cap (53). If you feel Istiridye are too slow, see if you can get the Mercanbaligi. My husband and I were both skilling on Istiridye for a time and I got really sick of mailing them to and synthing them on our bone mule, so I told him he wasn't allowed to fish them anymore =X He's able to pull in mercanaligi and he's in the upper 40s, I think. One night he got like 5 levels on them, I swear. All I remember is being pretty pissed.

Our laptops are pretty old and laggy which makes it fairly easy to fish. I appologize if they're too high for you to reel in. They NPC for 600g.
