On another note, I don't understand why sam or /sam dd can't seem to grasp the concept that hasso/seigan can be rotated easily. They're on very short recast timers, theres no reason to have one or the other on 24/7, fucking alternate as necessary .

    That would require them to:

    a. not be surfing the internet for porn.

    b. be paying attention to whats going on (that rules out 90% of the players).

    c. not be watching TV/talking to their LS/talking on the phone.

Seriously, finding 5 competant players that are actually "focused" on doing any task in the game is damn near impossible.

The true difficulty of this entire game is finding people that aren't retarded and or utter shitheads to do shit with.

Honestly...who the f*ck casts anything but Dia II on a Colibri? The mob shouldn't be alive more than 20 seconds, and a Slow 2 or Paralyze 2 won't do anything more than deplete your MP pool and piss off your melees. Now, if you were fighting a Wivre, I can understand that. But a god damn Colibri? And who the hell goes RDM/NIN to exp? /WHM only, unless there's a WHM main there. But even then...it's stupid. Don't tell me this RDM/NIN went and meleed the birds too...

That almost makes me want to come to your server so I can yell at them.

IDK, you're a better man than I, Kenshin. I'd have dropped that RDM after he casted Slow 2 the second time. But bad RDM's are a major pet peeve of mine.

So for those of you that are total nubs but somehow know of this forum, here's some more real noob advice for you, listen well:

    1) Get your motherfucking staging points. There's nothing worse than making an entire party deal with your ineptitude while you bungle your way through TAU's large zones, trying to find the SP then camp. Listen to the Pope's sticky, it's golden advice.
    2) Buy some motherfucking accuracy gear. No, your Garrilous Ring and Courage Ring, with your full BLU AF, will not be sufficient. I had a BLU tonight tell me that a 69-71 party was too low for Bibiki Bay Dhalmels. What the fuck? Yes, a 71 BLU wearing abysmal shit for gear WILL have trouble connecting a single hit, especially when the poor bastard refuses to spend money on food.
    3) Use your Reraise items. You've already forced your party to sit on their thumbs and spin while you bungled your way through a dangerous area. Don't die in a bad, bad spot to true sound Poroggo's without your fucking RR on. Better yet, listen to those around you that know what the fuck they're talking about, and don't aggro the shit to begin with.

This public service message brought to you by a pissed-off old-school player (no doubt with the voiceless support of thousands more that read this post).

Or they could just invite you because you always drag me along to PL regardless!

I however avoid all of the above pitfalls by only xping with people I know/trust and therefore do not have to rant about such nonsense! Around two-three times a year I'll take a pick up party. It keeps me appreciative of what I have gotten used to. It also leads me to the conclusion that roughly 50% of the people playing FF have absolutely no idea how to play this game past the Brady guide. Personally I just don't find the 10-15k xp I'll get in 2 hours worth the headache of having to deal with complete ineptitude (see here for further details).

However I fear that this entire thread is pointless because it's all a bunch of people who do know what they're doing bitching about people who don't actually read this forum.

One thing I am curious about is whether or not people actually try to give helpful advice to players who seem to do/not do silly things in xp? Sure sometimes it falls on deaf ears but I've found that sometimes if you phrase it politely people can be responsive. More times than you would think it ends up that people genuinely didn't know things or forget about them. E.g. RDM who doesn't cast silence on BLU and BLM mamools. I'll usually say something like "Hey (name) do you think you could try to cast silence on the Mamool Mimers and Philosophers on pull? It can be really helpful since they can cast some pretty nasty spells." I know that seems kind of silly but believe it or not sometimes it does work. Granted, sometimes they don't get it because they're half afk watching porn or they think you're a bitch who's trying to tell them how to do their job, however sometimes it really does work and can help the party out tremendously.

P.S. I pull with elegy @ colibri some times! Only I ever seem to get hit with it though. /NIN = who cares it won't hit and /WHM = I just erase it. Iirc, you said that the BRD in that particular party was casting elegy on them post-pull (which is very silly).

Making PTs isn't easy or fun (for most), so making it even less easy and fun just isn't cool.
Agreed... but I would say it's more polite to ask the leader to replace you if you absolutely must leave early. I've seen too many retarded substitutions in pick-up exp to trust anyone. I mean, come on. The person leaving is no longer going to be a part of the party, so they have very little motivation to make a careful choice when inviting a rep.

    Hey, I'm a SAM/WAR Seigan co-tanking with another SAM/WAR... Hmm, I have to leave. Think I'll get Mr. MNK/WAR MP-sponge that's seeking. True story.

Also, don't get a rep if the party's just going to fall apart in the next half-hour. Nothing pisses me off more than accepting an invite to a party that just disbands shortly after I get to camp and eat my food.

In my case it depends on how bad the party/member is perfoming, and my current mood. Like the thing i mentioned about that taruWHM with lots of MP, he kept everyone cured and/or with regen, and never really had MP problems, so me not telling him to nuke was kind of pointless.

On the other hand i asked him twice to put barfira on the party... -lolIncineration, yeah yeah breath attack, placebo, etc.-

P.S. he never tried and i wondered if he even had the spell the whole party (even the JP PLD asked for it).

Taru WHMs with an MP fetish... don't get me started on the one who came to sky and was proud of only having 600 HP. Oneshotted more times than you'd ever want. And he couldn't wait for his z mitts to drop.

    /sigh

And NIN who think that DDing in Meripos means they're god and don't actually know how to tank when it comes to something else.

Personally I dislike this camp more than most, especially comparing it to Mamool Ja Staging point which is not only faster exp with the right PT but also almost always empty. Instead of doing this though, just about every PT goes to join the bird orgy where at times you're lucky to pull one mob a minute. Yet, people are perfectly content with this and stay there/camp on top of other PTs.

    3) Do not ever, ever, invite people for a PT if there are no essential jobs either seeking or available to you. Seeing three good DDs with their flag up but no mages does not mean you invite the three DDs and pray for the next 30m that some mages pop. This one happens a lot, and it's what leads to the really odd PTs since after like 30m of looking for members people just tend to take anything. BLM/WHM? Perfect, you'll suffice for a healing roll. A PT should normally start with having at least a real healer willing to join.

    7) PT leaders that lead their PT to a spot where they're literally camping on top of another PT need a punch in the face. Camping next to another PT isn't as bad and is rather common but, what the hell, there's never any reason to be right up the other PT's ass checking their prostate.

    8) The 2h buff turned some melees into Hasso spamming MP sponges that slow down the PT because of having to wait for MP recovery/them to unweaken all so they can do 5 more damage. You know who you are. Stop it. If MP is a problem in an exp PT you shouldn't be using Hasso at all. Thanks to people like this nearly every pickup PT I join now asks melees to sub NIN, and then I have to try to convince them that no, /NIN isn't the only way avoid MP being a potential problem. It's like Seigan doesn't exist.

    9) I shouldn't have to say this but, melees should always eat food. Only place it's somewhat reasonable to not eat food is Colibri camp because of having to carry so many stacks, which can be difficult with limited inventory/funds. But even there I really feel most people should be able to. But outside of Colibri there's just no excuse for not picking up a 2k stack of attack food or at least something.
Fucking yes, and I esspecially hate point #1

Just the other day @ Nyzul I was camping the top camp doing around 25k/hour there, we partied for a good 2.5 hours, was good xp :D. I saw some people I knew in the thickets assuming they're on colibri (they were at mamool though hehe) so I go down since I have an instant warp, what do I see? 3 parties in the middle section and 2 parties on the bottom section, wtf?

I always check if there's a party for colibri, "I DON'T GIVE A FUCK LETS JUST DO BIRDS" sort of attitude is so annoying. And those people who come down when clearly there's a good party, most likely mine, is clearing the area and anyways set up just cause it's the fucking colibri camp, fucking my party's chain cause they took our respawns.

Or you could have non /NIN BRDs (I still hate BRD/NIN hate it hate it hate it hate it) who can help Erase.

As to Slow II, I don't have it yet, and when in PTs of slightly idiotic WAR/NINs -- who think that because they're WARs they don't need to have to worry about Utsusemi like they do on their equally horrible NIN75s -- get completely torn up; I think the Elegy and Slow (I) helps a little at least. But I also keep everyone Hasted so Slows have no effect and I pay attention to Erases. And keep myself Dia'd for Sleep reflects.

But maybe that's too much work for most support. Haste (maybe), Refresh, Cure, repeat?

    What's Reraise?

Also, the other points are also .. yeah. Don't forget, if you sub /NIN, in order for it to be any help, YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY CAST THE UTSUSEMI SPELL THING OK?

And SAMs with the Hasso thing never surprised me; it's that whole typical MUST DO SUPER DAMAGE AT ALL TIMES mentality, instead of attempting to use your job to its fullest extent and abilities.

Re: Where has the skill gone??

I never knew that elegy could even reasonably land on anyone from a colibri until this. I thought the Colibri didnt have enough chr to land it on anyone since my brd never got affected by it when it was cast on me.

I'm slightly guilty of the whole /sam going a bit too crazy with ws thing however whenever I usually do that it's when i see the other DD having tp(and expect em to use it) and the monster should be dead within seconds. instead the rng/sam/war/ct sits there with almost 300tp and barrage up while the other 1-2 DD also have 100+ tp that they dont use and I die from having hate because they were too stupid(or afraid) to just outright kill the thing. Then i get blamed for using a weapon skill+ meditate so early in the fight when in reality I shouldnt have even taken more than 1~2 hits if a simple 500-900 dmg ws at minimum had been done.
This isnt merit lv yet btw.

If it's any xp party under 50, I will still usually try to reason with people doing dumb shit. Maybe it's their highest job, there is still much to learn and room for improvement. 50+ I expect players to know basic shit, and at merit lvl I won't even bother. If you are meriting and still don't have a clue as to what you're doing wrong, theres no hope for you.

Re: Where has the skill gone??

Just got done with a low 50's PT, the BLM must have just gotten Freeze b/c it's literally ALL THAT HE CASTED, over and over, the second the recast was up, till he had no MP, then repeat.

I'd have bitched, but I was just in awe at his complete suicidal tendencies.

I'll now direct my anger and pent-up frustration at:

-- People that want to be walked through the entire game.
I did all of ZM with a PT of 63-65's, you don't need 5 75's dragging your ass through them.
I soloed G3, as did all my friends, quit bitching because you don't want to, idk, learn how NOT to aggro an entire zone.

-- People that complain about being broke, yet spend all day sitting around in Whitegate.
Stuff is SO cheap now, and I know deflation affects this, but it's still good money for newer players to farm Beehive Chips and Sheepskins/Wool.

-- People that want help, without helping themselves
No I don't remember every single cutscene in CoP, that's what the internet is for, look it up yourself.

-- People that are unable to do anything besides TP burn
How many retards did I run into helping with things like Aht Urghan 44, that ran in, unloaded their leet damage, and died in 10 seconds.
I could name so many occasions other than that fight, I just can't understand why people can't comprehend that not every mob in the game is a Greater Colibri.

No, Elegy does not always bounce back and land on just you. No, Elegy isn't the only spell you can pull fast with. You could just as easily pull by alternating threnodies and never have to worry about a /recast. Or hell you could even pull with Dia, I don't care. Melees getting 50% slow and having to melee with that on for a short time (durations vary with mages, which in all honesty tends to be rather long on average in pickup PTs), and then needing Erase, is a much bigger pain in the ass than having lower elemental resistance. It's just something so simple as changing a macro for some situations that could save others from having to do extra work.
Just a note, there is a reason beyond it just being habit that brds pull with elegy. After casting most songs you get a slight delay, a pause where you can't move or cast or do anything, this applies to things like threnody and finale but for some reason elegy does not suffer from this pause - after singing elegy you can start to move back to camp immediately instead of being stuck for a second or two. Also a slowed mob is a bit less likely to damage you/take our your shadows on the way back to camp.

As for my gripe with people being unskilled - I'm sick of every brd lvl 24+ subbing nin in exp. You won't automatically be chain pulling at lower levels just because you sub nin. There are times when you'll only have a brd and a rdm or whm or smn as your mages and if that happens (which is often when I exp my cor) the extra cures can really help out. Nin sub can be a valuable tool as a brd but I really wish people understood that it's not the be all end all sub for brds in exp, especially pre 74.
