Played the trial of this a looong time ago and got a Necro to 20, was fun but wasn't worth paying for. Also dem skeletons in PvP were hilarious.

So if I had an account I canceled awhile ago, I'd be able to start up again for free? If so may have to start it up again just to play around on. Or is it like EQ2 now?
edit: nvm, you can but can't access everything...
I had previously canceled my subscription, but I'm interested in playing for free. Will I have the same access to the game as I did previously?
Accounts that were previously active are still there, but you will be limited to two character slots, and the other restrictions on free play unless you become a Premium subscriber.
You can only play 4 of the 12 classes...
Was interested in trying out the f2p just for something to do while waiting for some of the big MMOs to come out this year, but it doesn't seem like a way to really encourage people to keep playing when you can only access 4 classes.
It's an absolute terrible model to only allow 4 playable classes. No idea what Funcom is thinking. There's already plenty of restricted content to get people to pay but no ones going to pay for them when they can't play the class they want.
What ARE the 4 classes you can play?
● Barbarian
● Demonologist
● Guardian
● Priest of Mitra
It is pretty stupid to restrict the classes and then expect people to buy them without being able to try them. They should at least let you level every class up to like 20 to see if you like it or not before you buy it.
Also, I wasn't able to select demonologist in the char create, so I went barbarian. It's been ok so far for f2p, but I haven't gotten farther than just inside Tortage. The nighttime-solo play was interesting.
Yeah, there's race restrictions for certain classes too I believe. It's not bad for F2P like said. Tortage can get pretty immersive with the music and the VO'd dialogue for the quests. But after Tortage it's back to the usual quest vacuuming grind. Some of the areas are pretty nice. Game really captures that "barbarian" feel with a lot of the gear and stuff you get. Combat is kind of fun with the combos and stuff. Something to play until some new games come out later this year.
In 20 years of gaming, the absolute worst $50+ I have ever spent was on Age of Conan. What has changed about the gameplay?
That's just terrible. My main on my unlimited trial account is a Ranger and the only way to play him again is to sub? Fuck that. I would rather buy classes individually than have to sub. At least Champion Online's f2p class selection isn't too limited and I hope COH/COV won't be either.
Well yeah, you can buy individual classes as well. But they should let you try the classes out before you're forced to buy them. On a side note, I'm really liking the Gateway to Khitai zone. Even though quests are pretty much the standard kill/gather quests, there's a shitload of them so it feels like there's always something to do at least.
Having fun with it for a free game. More fun than I was with XIV, which is saying something as one is far newer than the other. I like how farming world bosses actually gives you a garunteed drop each time, so I can put in a little effort and gear myself up nicely and make some side change on the AH. Its old school, but still kinda fun, although it annoys me that the only straight melee DPS class I can play right now is Barb. I have a guardian now, but I know it won't be good for solo since the DPS quickly becomes pathetic.
Nothing, the account was an old trial I made that had it on there. If you had more then 2 characters made you have to choose 2 to unlock.
