Is there anyway to not suck at repeative strums? Example, Rock you like a Hurricane on medium (Not ready for hard yet i guess), I must be jewish and have no rhythm, so what's the best advice to hit repeative strums, besides holding the fret down and praying?

Always strum up and down on repeated sections, instead of just strumming in one direction

I am all for free downloads, but a full game devoted to Aerosmith doesn't appeal to me at all. Part of the reason I play Guitar Hero is to listen to new bands.

It's gonna be hard to convince myself to buy a game with nothing but Aerosmith. Maybe if it has every song of theirs, or if it's not $60.

For the most part of this song there really is only repeating 3, 4, or 5 times of the same note. If you can count it out as you go its pretty easy. The notes also go pretty well with the beat, so keeping the beat with your head or feet makes it easier.

And the game will be 50 bucks I believe... not sure i'll buy it, it depends greatly on the contents of the game. They said that it won't only be Aerosmith songs, but also songs that they found were inspiring, or their favorite bands and whatnot... so it definitely has potential.

Fuck medium, play hard even if you suck balls. Medium teaches you to downstrum beats that you're going to want to alt strum.

You might not notice it if you skip it, but I seriously regret starting out on med. Shoulda just struggled through hard.

I feel like that a lot but I started with a shitty 360 Xplorer that always got stuck on down strums so I had to upstrum everything which sucks. I still don't have alt-strumming down pat but its definitely helps having a Les Paul that I can downstrum on.

On a side note, just aced Dream On my second time through. Definitely not the hardest chart in the world but still a fun tune to play around on.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Don't do it.

Learn to alt-strum absolutely asap or you'll regret it.

The hardest parts of the game for me right now are one's fast solo a, rb's mosh 1, and trying to get myself to properly alt-strum stuff I'm too used to down strumming. It drives me absolutely nuts.

I totally agree, it's a weird analogy but it feels like I'm itching my head and rubbing my belly at the same time. My strum hand has trouble keeping the beat and then my fret hand freaks out that my strum hand is acting so retarded.

I agree, but you get better at it with practice of course. I only learned down strumming through all of GH2 Easy -> Medium -> Hard -> Expert (Misirlou being the first song where I was FORCED to alt), then started on Expert in GH3 and only used down strumming until Holiday in Cambodia and it only got harder from there with Knight's of Cydonia, Raining Blood, One, The Way it Ends, etc...


Just play a lot of those songs over and over and you'll eventually not suck so bad at it and even start to do it on some easier songs where it isn't necessary at all.

Alt strumming is fairly easy on long draw out repetition of the same note over and over again, but when its combined with fast note changing it becomes hard. Also, on notes that have an emphasis in the song, I cant remember which song but its repeating G G GR all right next to eachother at one point, I keep trying to downstrum that GR even if its on an upstrum cause of the emphasis on the note.

I also have realised I have never done a pull off before, where you have all the notes already pressed down and just lift them off, I guess I'm hammering those on as well.
