I presume you're referring to the two well-known Mandau owners that didn't have /WAR leveled?
    Mine was leveled :D
    And had a NQ amemet.
I never understood the point of this barb.

    Relics are expensive.
HQ Amemet is (was?) worth a significant chunk of gil.
    2 + 2 = ?

I think it's completely reasonable for a player to have to sell all their superfluous white box crap to afford a relic. Leveling your subjobs is simply an issue of investing the time.[/quote:12e98]

I never said it wasn't reasonable. I sold my Forager's and got an Amemet+1 for the final stage of my Mandau. Doesn't mean it isn't funny that someone is running around with a 10k item (if it's that much) and a relic.

He was just saying that your accuracy with a bare Shark Bite (ie, no SA) is going to be unreliable for purposes of skillchaining and the odds of a bare Shark Bite are pretty good considering that Kirin often spins around while he's casting spells. Therefore, he likes sushi more so that in the event of a spin, his Shark Bite is less likely to miss entirely. It's a pretty reasonable position.

Rather than assume you two are morons who have absolutely no reading comprehension, and taking into consideration that I am terrible at explaining anything, I will elaborate.

The kiting tanks are running North, Kirin is chasing him, also going north.
The Tank has to change direction since the room is circular-ish, and goes around a column.
At this point, the Kiter is now going Northwest. Meanwhile, Kirin decides he is going to cast Stonega IV or whatever, and stops to cast a spell while he was going North. A couple seconds into Kirin's casting, his character model shifts so that he is now facing Northwest instead of North. The melee that were following Kirin would have also been heading North, so when Kirin's model shifts, they are no longer behind him, there won't be enough time for the melee to shift behind Kirin for sneak attack if they want to get the skillchain off.
I don't know what else to say.

The Linkshell I am in is still very inexperienced, and it is too dangerous for the tanks to actually stop kiting and straight tank it for awhile so the skillchain can get off. Instead the melees wait until Kirin starts casting Stonega IV, Stone V, or Quake, as those have a very long casting time. You can probably get off a weaponskill if you aren't too far behind Kirin when he stops for a TP move, or casts other spells like Sleepga or Rasp, but you won't have enough time to get off a full skillchain.

    Anyways, you're both morons.

I like Kuponut, it doesn't take much for him to go full into a full emo post. This is entertaining.

My ls does the non TP burn kirin too
(although i think they are changing soon sux2bathf i guess)
i also use a meat build, but have full dagger merits
    Acc+62~77 using red curry
TP gain seems to be about what everyone elses is
    /war for berserk
sushi would hit for 0 too much i think
however since the 2h update everyone and their mother in my ls got sam to 75 so now its kinda like lol1h @ events =/
cept to feint and Th whore
but i usually get to participate, at least more than the other thfs in my ls, a lot always /nin to it, berserk is very nice for kirin/big mobs (/drk cool too, but if they won't even /war-do you think they'd ever /drk?)

Guilty, I forgot completely about the 3X damage proc(plus it didnt add up to 3X damage straight - this was at the time when the multiplier wasn't known exactly) and had no idea how much damage the poison did :]
Asked a few questions on alla and got chewed out :D also wiki was broken for me at that time and i couldnt get any pages to load ;x

The answer is get TH4, that is all I use my THF for anymore.

Then again my THF is spectacularly gimp, so that may be the reason... /emo

I'm fairly certain I put that in and someone changed it.

Why would you use sushi on Kirin? You'll hit more and...hit for 0.

What really matters is how your LS does Kirin. You don't need to tp burn it to make melees a bit more useful. If you have a blink tank that normally kites it, but occasionally stops then Feint is awesome for it. Tank/healers let everyone know when they're going to stop, you can prep Feint and everyone can burn Kirin for 30s and return to kiting. Feint works wonders for that playstyle so get it for sure.
Um, if you're hitting for 0 on kirin you're doing something wrong. Sure you may hit it very occasionally but it should be way out of the ordinary, even with sushi. That said, kited kirins are super boring for melee, basically as a thf you spend the whole time charging sneak and running around until he stops to cast or something before you can hit. Honestly, you're better off just letting rangers, blms, smns or whatever do their thing. If it's a tp burn and you have good gear then you can have fun. Sub your war, eat sushi and go to town and prepare to get your face raped when you pull hate. But you already knew that.

On the thing about eatting meat, maybe it's useful if all you're doing is chasing him and can only get an actual swing when sa or ta is charged. If you plan on wanting to do some actual dot then eat sushi.

On the feint thing, if you plan on doing any end game stuff or playing with lurkers. Feint is where it's at. Pop a feint on kirin and everyones acc jumps to 90% during it's duration. Same with fafnir and mobs like that. Merit it and you'll probably want to merit it more than once.

But yea this probably shouldnt be in the advanced section since all these topics have been beaten to death in the past couple years.

    Reading comprehension? lol

You don't need to elaborate anything retard, learn to word shit right the first time so people won't misunderstand.

Btw until you can stop going to events as a placebo TH whore and your ws can break 300 on kirin maybe you should shut the fuck up.

Re: THFs and Non-TP Burn Kirin

Thief's knife and Assassin's Armlets increase to TH may be extremely low and not even noticeable, but I go to events as Thief because the group I am with needs Treasure Hunter, and I use those items because I am not so selfish as to put myself above the rest of the linkshell. If I wanted to go for damage, I would go as Monk.

    Get Feint?

Seeing the number of panties that got in a bunch over this being in the wrong section, if I could move the thread I would. Until an admin does that for me, we are, like the pages of our Maxim magazines, stuck together.

I unlocked Feint last night and I'll try sole sushi + /WAR this weekend.

Thanks to those who gave their input :D

Keep an eye on how many times you find yourself anxiously awaiting to hit the Feint button again while you have the 10 minute recast. And when you upgrade it and get an 8 minute recast, keep an eye on how many times you wish you had a 6 minute recast.

I remember being one of the people mad at that. You had the weapon and instead of testing the effect for yourself, you asked a board full of people that only had secondhand info.

Who did you think they got the info from?

Re: THFs and Non-TP Burn Kirin

divisor posted there, and didn't respond to a PM I sent him here, also there were a few other mandau thieves on that board. Wiki didn't work for me at the time (sent me back to the same page every time I put in a query) Plus I don't understand all the formulas for all the damage on weapons. I wouldn't have figured out the crit multipler by myself (plus it was generally accepted to just be 3X the damage, which I found to be incorrect, and was later clarified on this board several months later)

If people figured everything out for themselves, we wouldn't need message boards.
