If you can manage to get around $300, a Wii + Super Mario Galaxy (in November) should be worth the price, plus Metroid 3 and Resident Evil 4: Wii are great games when you get extra money. Smash Bros will be top notch, as will Mario Kart, both coming out early next year.

I wouldn't expect a price drop, no point, and please keep the comparisons to other systems in the console war thread.

Hey Guitar hero 3 is coming out for Wii, thats a good reason to get it! I just bought my Wii and I'm already kinda bored. I only have sports but I'm thinking about going and getting Mario Strikers Charged. Seems like a good game.

If you want a Wii for Mario Galaxy/SSBB, get it now. Once the holidays get rolling you won't be able to find a single Wii anywhere, not to mention the months that will follow xmas (nintendo seems to enjoy not shipping anything for like 1-2 months after the holidays...)

In all honesty -

If you want a Wii, or plan to get one for yourself / other for Xmas, go buy it tomorrow. Call every place around you. They recently did a soft-re-release (meaning they stopped making/shipping until existing supplies sold out, which took like no time at all, then re-released the system with a different bundle) and there is also a Mario Bundle coming out Oct. 30 that includes Super Paper Mario with Mario Party 8. Same day Guitar Hero 3 comes out. Think about that. Of course, with Super Mario Galaxy in November and Brawl soon after Xmas in February (hopefully) people are killing to get a new one. My store got a whole shipment in the other day, and they were all sold out within the first hour and a half, and every store in the district ended up calling us (and I assume every other store) to see if we had any left in stock - we didn't. We got a new shipment the next day, and those too all sold out before the day was half over. Christmas shopping 'begins' on Thanksgiving, so...

In all seriousness, if you plan on it, don't push it back or wait for a price drop, for your own sake. They are selling like crazy :/ And I'm not just saying this to push sales, companies really don't make any money on consoles at all, lol.

As stated before, Consoles don't really profit anyone.. very very little if at all, so you'd be hard pressed to find any deals unless a store is trying to sell out stock of an old bundle. Gamestop of course does used models, which can be a decent chunk cheaper (20 bux off, and 10% more with the card) but you have to take a few mins to check it out first. I got mine used, and its just like new, only cost me about 100 less. :D

I made the mistake of buying it on impulse, it was sold out of everywhere and there was like one last one at my local store so yea. Ended up selling it within a month losing about 20-30$ which is not so bad. At any rate you want to try it out before you drop any major cash on it.

I bought a Wii, I play it for like an hour once every other week.

Still play my 360 more.

It's pointless for me to have now, but I'll want it for when smash releases, figure they'll be harder to get around then or that I will want to play it ASAP.
