Looks like I'm voting now.

He's s annoying.
The story is up on AP, basically what has already been said above already.

Will Colbert receive the Colbert bump every time he is on TV? He can probably get 300% of the votes!
oh shi, Man of the Year 2. The real life sequel!
lol win
Very funny, but no real chance.
Study politics for 2 mins and you'd realize he doesn't have a chance to even get 10% of the vote.
He'll need more than the state of South Carolina to win. There's nothing stopping the other states from putting him on the ballot, or at least being written in by voters.Originally Posted by aers

So, uh.. what has Stephen Colbert done? What are his stances, and what's his voting record like? I'm not too familiar with his political careeer.
And when referring to him, like John Doe (R), do they instead say Stephen Colbert (BI)?
That's because he's not a politician. And to whomever said he couldn't get 10% of the vote, they said the same thing about Reagan. Colbert could easily win this election if he actually tried, and would probably make a better president than most of the other candidates right now.Originally Posted by Khamsin
Yeah Colbert is a likeable guy, but not presidential material. I'd much rather see someone in office who garners international respect and is a champion for American prosperity at home and abroad.Originally Posted by Keno
haha, i saw the larry king interview with him, and after larry asked him if he was running for "the big one" he kept repeating "i'm not saying i'm running" the entire show
i missed the colbert report episode where he announced it though, torrent anyone? :D
(i wonder if "man of the year" producers would sue him lawl)
I'd love to see him run and get a decent amount of votes, but there is one problem with him becoming president.
Would we still have the Colbert Report?
And now coming to you live from the White House, the Colbert Report!
Hell, that's actually a great idea. Then at least we'd know what kind of shit our Legislative branch is up to. This keeps sounding better and better...
/vote Colbert
Like Bush! 4 more years!Originally Posted by Dezzimal

Indeed.... this could bring a record number of people to the polls lol.Originally Posted by Tyr
The fact that people would vote someone into office just because he has a successful TV show yet has next to know idea how to run a country or handle international affairs makes me seriously fear for the future of this country.
Voting for Colbert just because would be like voting Hillary in just because she's a woman. Do none of you care how our country is run? Clearly most don't, since they voted Bush in *twice*.

That's as much of an ignorant statement as someone who say's he'd make a great president. You have no idea what colbert does or does not know and tell me, how good have the typical politicians been doing running the country the last couple decades.Originally Posted by kuronosan
I don't really think it matter's who is in office to be honest. They are going to do what suits them best and not the country and that's pretty much that. If what's good for them happens to coincide with benefiting the country well then yay us but for the most part, I don't expect big things from our leaders. Promises during the races that become lies in office.
