Ethanol, solar, geothermal, wind, and water are all much less efficient then oil. Nuclear power is more efficient, has millions of years worth of supply, and is generally environmentally safe. It would lead to a plethora of high tech jobs, bettering the nation and also possibly leading to new discoveries that could make fusion a likely successor.

Vote for the candidate that's for nuclear power, please.

I agree 100%. People are so concerned about nuclear power since 1979... Technology now adays makes 1979's sensors / computers look like something a caveman created. I think it's stupid that people would much rather use less efficient things to produce power when power bills would be probably 1/4 of what they are now if we were running on nuclear power.

Nuclear comes with a greater risk than all alternatives combined. It only takes one mistake to create a huge environmental disaster that could kill hundreds of people, make thousands sick, and make huge tracts of land uninhabitable for centuries. Plus there's the problem of how to dispose of the waste, which comes with the same risks.

The real solution is curbing consumption and encouraging a culture that will move towards self-production and sustainability. The real energy crisis is the massive over-use of resources across the board and a nearly complete reliance on market forces for essential items/energy. Solar, wind, water, and battery can all be made more efficient with enough research, and deployed on an individual scale that is unique and responsive to the consumer's region. I know someone who lives in a spot where the sun shines on his house for most of the day. He's not a rich man but he scraped and saved for a few years and bought some solar panels and runs his home almost entirely on solar power now. That's just an example. But the biggest, best, most effective thing we can do is curb consumption through gas electric hybrid vehicles, more efficient windows, better recycling habits, efficient appliances, home-grown food...the list of things individuals can do right now by themselves for very little cost is huge.

None of those are problems with today's nuclear technology. There's also storage in Nevada that can hold thousands of years of the waste, which isn't going to hurt a thing.

Didn't he say on his show if he got a certain % of South Carolina's votes he would get into the National Election or something?

I like the idea of this. Although I doubt it will phase the real candidates it is good to see someone pointing out the fact that elections are far too wishy washy these days. It is sad that candidates make empty promises and try to cater to everyone instead of being very clear on their stances. It's just a big mud flinging contest these days.

and for every one of these guys, there is probably 100+ more people out there that won't even buy those energy efficient light bulbs. the general population is stupid and would rather have a 750hp, 25 gallon to the mile Mad Max SUV to bring home the groceries in than use a more standard economical car, let alone a hybrid. i dont think people view our energy consumption as a problem and it will probably only turn around through governmental legislation imposing stricter/higher energy standards on the corporations making the products.

Do you mean 2.5 miles a gallon? Cars with 300 horsepower struggle to get even 20 miles a gallon.

Hillary is the Pandertron 2000. Obama is the Pandertron 2000-X. Make no mistake about it, Obama is as genuine and sincere as Hillary.

As for my score, oddly enough the two Pandertrons were tied in first with a score of 39. The actual candidate that I like was tied in fifth place with a score of 36. (John Edwards, who was oddly enough tied with the Cajole-O-Matic, Joe Biden.)

    I wish Al would run

But as it stands, he can only lose if he runs. If he doesn't run, he can play king-maker instead.

Did everyone else have all of one party's candidates above all of the other party's candidates? I suppose that makes sense. But considering all my Democrats were in the 21-30 range, and Rudy Giuliani was at 18, with so many of those issues dividing evenly down party lines, that seems fairly moderate to me.

Would you rather have them use this web site to determine who they are voting for, or pick off whatever campaign ads they see between episodes of Grey's Anatomy and Survivor? Personally, I'd rather have them use the web site and have at least some semblance of an idea why they voted for the candidate they did.

That's all fine and good, but I can't run my car on solar, geothermal, wind, water (tidal?), or nuclear power. I can on gasoline, and I could on E85 ethanol with a few minor modifications (most gas around here is 15% ethanol anyway). Ethanol isn't "energy efficient", but it is "gasoline efficient" and reduces our dependence on foreign oil. Until a better option comes close to reality (I don't think they are bringing the electric car back for a few decades) I'll go with ethanol for now. Been working for Brazil since the late 70's, and now they don't have to import any oil at all.

haha, imagine how the roads would look with geothermal powered cars; like life sized slot cars.
