fixed. MvC2 is about the most boring fighter ever made. Only so long I can stand to get juggled by Storm/Cable/Magneto infinites.Originally Posted by Weltall

3rd Strike is still the best 2d fighter out there, though the Guilty Gear XX games are close behind.
As long as Ken is in it, doesn't really matter who the other characters are, though it would be nice to see Sagat again (Gonna assume Ken/Ryu/Chun-Li are all locks)
Can someone explain to me the differences between Ryu & Ken?
I've played a lot of Street Fighter2 in my days, and aside from Ken's fierce shoryuken having a flame the odd time (where-as it's always on fire in SF3), I couldn't really see any difference.
(and in SF3, all I see so far {I can only carry so many quarters with me at a time..}, just different specials you select prior to the fight)

But yeah, I hope this next installment raises the bar even more than the GG series (which still has it). Too bad the last GG (forgot the name) had broken system where you had to make your character turn to face your oponent was complete bullshit.

Ken had a stronger dragonpunch, weaker fireball, and his Hurricane Kick was multihit (less damage per hit)
Ryu had a weaker dragonpunch, stronger fireball, and his kick was one hit.
It eventually progressed a bit further, Ryu developed into more of a hard Karate style, picked up addition fireballs. Ken kind of morphed into a pseudo-Bruce Lee I guess, his animations were given a "looser" look, and he picked up a roll move in the Alpha games. Generally speaking, Ken has always been stronger (He's the strongest character in 3rd strike by miles) then Ryu in the games past the initial Street Fighter II permutations.
That being said, all characters with a Fireball/Dragon Punch/Hurricane Kick style moves (Ken, Ryu, Gouki, Dan, Sean, etc) are all just referred to as Shotos, since they all have the same basic specials.
I love this series.
I mean, real love.
Actual love.
Goddamn.
Don't know what you mean by 'strongest of 3rd strike' but if the tournament scene is any indication, Yun/Chun Li are played more at higher levels and take away more trophies.Originally Posted by Krandor
Ken had stronger supers in 3rd strike than Ryu though, and his EX's had more use overall.
It is surprising this genre is as big as it is still. Never seemed to do much for me.
So, unfortunately, this passed with a big meh from me.
I personally can't wait. D:
I wept tears of joy. How long I have waited for you, SFIV.
I love all fucking 2D fighter games. I'm gonna get GGAC on Wii too.
Well that answered another question I was going to ask, thanks.Originally Posted by Krandor
Hate to derail a little further, but can anyone recommend me a SF3 title to purchase before I blow another 4 quarters trying to reach M.Bison on the stupid coin-op?
(they got the difficulty set to hard {or whatever they call 'above normal' these days}, hard to experiment without being rich, only gotten as far as stage6 as Ken ;/ )
Anyways, regarding SFIV, hoping they're keeping it traditional also, but this time around I want to see it in full HD (re: smooth as butter sprites) and animating more than 30fps.
(if that's even possible, considering the animation frame-rate in SF3 is stupidly high, I bow to the inbetweeners of whatever animation studio Capcom hired for the thing, can almost swear that dancer chick is done in 3d when she's cartwheeling about)
3rd strike is probably their best attempt at balancing the characters. Unfortunately Yun's launch setup and SA3 bar + Chun Li's SA2 bar/stock issues went untouched, which is why you face them more than any other characters in competitive play. If you want to play 2nd impact have fun with Hugo's ridiculous SA1 damage.Originally Posted by Kaisha
I stopped playing GG with Slash. I was so sad with what they did to Dizzy. =(Originally Posted by Viq

Dizzy got pumped up in AC, which I love, as she's been my main since XX. EX bubble, better fish, and faster pokes (2K especially) are all godsends.Originally Posted by Xerlic
Same here. I played Dizzy in XX as well as Sol, but who didn't when Dust Loop was in. Check out my stick. Does the fish still disappear when Dizzy gets hit?Originally Posted by Viq
Since you live in RI were you at Total Barnage by any chance a few years ago?
I actually was one of the people running Barnage. I was the kid in charge of the brackets and stuff. I still work with, and am soon moving in with, Rich aka. A Robot Bit MeOriginally Posted by Xerlic
EDIT: Fish still go away when you're hit, but it's easier to input two commands and make the fish turn to set up unblockables now. It's a fair trade imo
