3rd strike is probably their best attempt at balancing the characters. Unfortunately Yun's launch setup and SA3 bar + Chun Li's SA2 bar/stock issues went untouched, which is why you face them more than any other characters in competitive play. If you want to play 2nd impact have fun with Hugo's ridiculous SA1 damage.
Not to mention the ridiculousness that is Ken.
It's like every question he gets, he can answer with SA3.

And just cause this was beautiful:

That video gets posted more than anything.
I will admit Daigo's full-parry was the shit... but seriously (and especially since that video came out) he's not the only person to have done that.

Please, in a tournament setting like that? That kind of composure is the shit, don't be a hater.

It was the finals of Evo2k4* >.>

Sure it's not 'hard' and 'lots' of people have done it before and after, but the fact that it was done in a very high pressure situation, I still get chills down my back watching it lol.

All that said, can't fucking wait for SF4, but will it be the same with no arcades?

Generally speaking, Ken has always been stronger (He's the strongest character in 3rd strike by miles) then Ryu in the games past the initial Street Fighter II permutations.
Don't know what you mean by 'strongest of 3rd strike' but if the tournament scene is any indication, Yun/Chun Li are played more at higher levels and take away more trophies.

Ken had stronger supers in 3rd strike than Ryu though, and his EX's had more use overall.
This thread moved a little bit past this point but, Ken's low MK chaining into SA3 always gave him overwhelming midgame dominance, since a single whiffed move on the opponents part would lead into that. That and the 100% BS that is his EX Hurricane Kick on a midair opponent.

Ken isn't the "strongest" in 3S. He's up there. Top tier belongs to chun and yun.

I like this Chun Li super parry better

    Seriously.

And just cause of that Wong/Daigo fight, I'd like to see face cams during some matches.
I'd have loved to have seen Justin's.

P.S., that vid is pretty too.

It is true that 3rdS is more balanced, but ChunLi is dominate in the tourney scene.
MvC2 is NOT spammage, that is probably why you were getting beat on. It has the largest following in the tourney scene as well.

Chun Li has the exact same poke > SA combo AND she gets the free air hits after the launch. That easily tops the 'ridiculous SA' list on 3rd strike given how fast her bar builds and how strong her kara cancel throw is. But I do agree that Ken's punishes can follow from much more hits. At most Chun can get low poke -> kikoken -> SA2 -> air hit. Ken can open with a crossup -> low -> shoryu canceled into SA3, which generally gets the opponent in a good spot for another crossup.

Hayato is easily one of the best Hugo players in the world. Him and YSB are probably unmatched as Hugo vs much more popular characters in pro settings.

Cool, I was there too. I was one of the players from Rochester. I don't think I remember another Dizzy player there, but it was a longass time ago. Anyways, that was a fun tournament.

Thanks, I'm glad people still remember Barnage 8) I think the only Rochester person I remember was Dippy, but I also knew him from the DDR scene at the time too.
