The first picture looks really polished, the second looks less so w/ jagged edges, and the third looks like the models are cartoon characters.
Frankly, I don't think graphics are going to make or break a 100% 2D fighting game, so I'm more interested in the system/gameplay, etc. The only picture I saw "offically" released was the first, so I wouldn't be too critical of the other two, as they could be early builds or something.
Interesting that the...PS2 and DS come up as suitable platforms, but I assume he just means their suitable to actually turn a profit.Originally Posted by The Magic-Box.com

I think they mean for both. The Wii control along with the Cube's control will never support a fighting game where reactions have to be so fast. PS2 and the DS layout allow for a much more comfortable experience and focuses on fast gameplay. I don't want to turn this into a debate thread, but ask anyone who plays fighting games at a tournament level and they'll almost always agree with what I've said in terms of 2D fighting games.Originally Posted by Xavier
Wii has this though

Which is better than NDS and almost as good as PS2, so really doesnt make sense why they wouldnt go with Wii too. But really, DS for a fighter? no thanks.
As someone who has been competing in CvS2, 3S, GGXX, ST, and KoF '98 (now KoF11) tournaments for the past 6 years (plus running a few tournaments), I can say you're 100% wrong. Tournament play is virtually exclusively done with sticks, not controllers.Originally Posted by *Shinzon*
Also, the Wii Hori stick is actually very nice, and works fine with the Wii version of GG:AC, and a few random Virtual Console fighting games.
PS2 has 12 buttons, and the DS has 8. 10 and 6 if you don't include start/select, which are impossible to press during a fight on the DS lite.
The wii has this http://image4.play-asia.com/640/5f/pa.97609.1.jpg
I don't see why the wii wouldn't support any fighting games
Naw, I was talking exclusively for counsel games. I know very well all the I guess I'll call them official tournaments are done on arcades. I think also the controller setup is far faster, although thats the first time I've seen that Wii control.Originally Posted by Viq

As far as comfort and speed goes, the Xbox controller is simply bigger and requires more navigation unless you have naturally bigger hands.

I think the same would be true for this controller as well.
I also think I phrased what I said above earlier and I apologize for it. The reason I'd still go with the PS3 as the more suitable. Is because as far as the STANDARD goes for controls. Both that Wii controller and the Wii fighting stick are not standard with purchases of Wii, and I think thats primarily whats looked at when releasing these types of games. Also the xbox 360 standard control does not separate the Dpad. As you can see the Dpad is linked unlike with the other controllers shown and that proves to be a hassel when trying to properly execute commands because the reaction on that kind of Dpad is very clunky.
Edit: Now that I look at that Wii controller more carefully it doesn't have the same amount of buttons a Ps3 controller has, I'm not sure what those buttons on top are but they look too small to be functional for a fighting game to utilize. The Ps3 Control allows for Utilization of both 3x Punch 3x Kick along with H. Punch and H.Kick. So you don't have to sacrifice utility to make the controller work for the game.
Granted I haven't played the most recent Street Fighter games, but do they actually -use- that many buttons?
The more Recent games, Capcom v SNK 2 had utility for those kinds of commands so I wouldn't be surprised if they carried it over, I'm just going by precedent.
Actually yes, the L2, R2 buttons can be set for 3 punches, 3 kicks. Basically for your EX moves in Street Fighter 3 2nd Impact and Third Strike. I am really sad they took parrying out, I loved parrying. I really wonder where the storyline will take the characters. Gill obviously isn't dead, Akuma still lives, who will be the new big bad boss?Originally Posted by Xavier
This is why I loved the very first Xbox(1) controller. I can crush a small baby's head with my hands. Deliciously large controller is delicious. As far as comfort and speed goes, the Xbox controller is simply bigger and requires more navigation unless you have naturally bigger hands.

Been trying to look at em, the site must be getting raped cuz i cant stream or dl either of those links.
Currently working on the stream right now.
gah. I heard 1up had played it a couple days ago.
Had no idea they actually posted the footage though
No one plays fighters with controllers unless they plan on losing. All these pictures of controllers are pretty worthless because anyone decent will be on a stick.
Edit- Here is the only thing worth playing on:

So far I'm kind of a mixed reception, you either love it or hate the artstyle I guess.
All in all it looks pretty cool. Ryu and Kens faces are too bulky, they look like E.Honda
