I wonder how Sumo would work... most party buffs are covered well enough by COR and BRD, but it could work as a debuffer, maybe.
    slower monk with heavier hits?
Nah, we already have enough DD, they wouldn't make another one. It'd most likely would be a support job, probably a debuffer. The Lady Luck dress sphere in FFX-2 was a Sumo/Gambler hybrid, so it'd likely be similar to that.
I like how we are discussing a fake job, anyway, I think it'd have to be a DD or Tank, Sumos, dont take much damage.

I'm picturing a tank that works with some kind of knockbacks/knockdowns and some kind of a guard/counter combination active ability. Never happen though.[/quote:dce48]

thats actually a really good idea, im all aboard the sumo hope train now

Yeah, but every other piece of RDM AF+1 is only marginally better than the NQ. Yeah, I have the +1 Gloves and Boots, but they aren't OMGBBQkittens better.

I know the other nations have cool missions as well, but loyalty should matter. And if you change nations, you gotta earn that back. It's not like you transfer your rank to the new nation, either.
I don't expect to be able to use all my outpost warps that I gained as a citizen of Windurst while I'm going through the Bastok or San d'Oria storylines. However, when I change back to Windurst, just like I regain access to all my Windurstian CP, I should regain access to all my Windurstian outposts. On Kujata, Windurst takes Kolshushu almost less frequently than it takes Ronfaure. I have all the outposts but Gustaberg (which I hardly need), and nothing could make me give up that convenience. I could live without it for a week or so while I went through the rank missions, but I refuse to lose that access with a wildly uncertain timeframe for getting it back.

And yes, relic+1 absolutely sucks. AF+1 has some great additions to it, why can't relic follow the same pattern? It truly is the bare minimum of a whitebox.
It's probably asking too much, but some sort of quest to "upgrade" Storm Fife so that the latent works outside of Assault/Salvage would be...amazing. Maybe require 1 drop each from...I don't know, the tier 10 Assault things, or all 4 Salvage bosses. I think people might go for it. But that might be cutting it too close to Gjallerhorn (then again, most relic weapons suffer the same problem).

    4 pages + and I don't see interesting word...

Why no one think about Glory Crown? not as epic as Ebon Panel?
also.. if they have slightest detail about job adjustment, let have them spill em out.

Glory Crown would just be a wasted question, and I think the Ebon Panels have as much purpose as those elaborate zones/contraptions in RotZ missions.

Thats cause everyone is going/wants to ask the same questions that SE's gonna say lol at. When someone asks SE a 3 kings question at these interviews a midget with a baseball bat should pop out and break someones legs for beating a dead horse. I mean you would think by now if SE had any intention of changing kings it would of been done by now.

it's been discussed before and pointed out that it is perfectly possible to enlarge the player inventory to 100 within existing PS2 limitation. To give a short recap of the argument, ignoring treasure pool and temp items, FFXI can hold 140 items simultaneously in memory: 60 from max inventory, 80 in safe, locker or storage. If safe, locker and storage were split into 2 independent units each (so that the client would only retrieve and need to store 40 items from the server at a time), 40 items would be freed up and could be given to inventory for a total of 100.
(minor nitpick: the 140 includes temp item space, but excludes treasure; so the upper limit is probably ~150; lokim, delekii, myself, and several others went over this in detail in the previous interview thread.)

more to the point: that's the worst idea from a recoding standpoint -ever-.

much simpler: make a new storage space (like a moghouse storage or locker) but make it field accessible only. let's call it uh. MoogleBag. I don't know.

same code setup as existing moghouse/locker/storage difference is the flags: allow it to be viewed from field but not in moghouse.

limitations for ease of coding: 1) all equippable gear has to be in original 60 (but alternate sets can be outside since you'll be able to move items between them)

    2) consumable items would have to be in original 60 as well, unless the space was limited to 40 items. (temp item space conflict)

Treasure pool could be rewritten to drop into this space, although that might be difficult to do depending on how exactly the back end of inventory management is currently written.

linkshells might be able to be stored here; again, depending on the exact details of how the linkshell system is written.

it might be possible to bazaar out of this space, again, depending on the backend.

this would (potentially) give you field access to a total of 140 slots (60+80) provided that you were ok with 80 of those slots being basically loot storage/cold storage for contingency gear. (most of us would be; it's the loot space I think alot of people miss.)

you could even implement more than one of these, as long as they weren't accessible concurrently (see: moghouse/storage/moglocker) giving SE arbitrary extensibility. at this point, the only limit is storage space on SE's side. (and storage is cheap.)

only "100 slots" by ruining the useability of the moghouse. fie! fie! I say.

Actually, the 140 might not include temp items. You can test it yourself by going to Beseiged, getting temp items, looking in your inventory and then typing /locker or /safe.

You'll have your 60 inventory items, 80 safe or locker items, and however many temp items all in memory. So the upper limit would be 140 + however many temp items you are likely to hold.

Unless looking in your locker or safe outside the mog house replaces your inventory items in memory, but I doubt it. I'd have to check that with a debugger/memory editor.

Well one thing would be nice... your equipped Armor goes out of your Inventory... i mean... why would you still have Armor you're wearing in you gobby bag? >.> This might become a problem w/ switching equipment... but... other MMO's do it ><

Also... can someone explain to me why SE couldnt make Mog Locker bigger... but could add a whole new storage system? it never made sense to me (Im not saying SE is lying about lolps2limitations)

100 inventory space is waaaaaay to much... i mean 40 extra spaces? i dont think any job carries around that much gear >< 70-80 would be nice tho...

    Re: Fan Festival #2

trivial test. the inventory is closed while you're doing this so you can't use (or see) any of the temp items.

they're not necessarily in active memory at this point.

the 150 was established because you can have an 80 slot moghouse, 60 slot inventory and 10 treasure items in memory all at once - you can't do this with temp items unless you know for a fact that temp items are active memory only and are never paged/saved to harddrive.

(this might be a job for someone with artmoney and a better understanding of the item structures than I currently have.)

SE couldn't make mog locker bigger but could add more space because the limit isn't -storage space- it's active items in memory.

80+60+10 is the apparent hard limit: you can open one of the three spaces (locker/storage/safe) + inventory + treasure, but not any two storage spaces at once (80+80 is more than 150; would be nice for moving stuff around though)

likewise they could add 'new' storage spaces that would be accessible in the field, but not at the same time as other storage spaces (like the locker and stuff) that go up to 80.

Well, I could always do the test I mentioned. Even though I won't have both my inventory and locker/safe open at once, I can check in memory to see if the items are still there. I could also check on the temp items, too.

I use odbg instead of artmoney, but shouldn't make a difference.

yeah. either would be enough for me.

how is odbg? I've heard some good things about it but haven't tried it myself yet.

Do keep in mind that the PS2 version might use a different scheme to store items in memory.

/facepalm Nobody ever CONFIRMED a limit for items held in memory. It was SPECULATED, based on the total KNOWN amount that you can have open at once.

I'd be surprised if it's different honestly. 99% of the rest of the code is copy/pasted.

    Minor inventory cleanup help:
Allow 12 crystals to "fuse" into a cluster
Allow clusters to stack to 99
