Most likely the same for me, there is just nothing good coming out that interests me on this system for a while. ;/Originally Posted by Yangsing

I was waiting as well until i heard about dropping backwards compatibility. I went out and got the 60GB model a few days ago because it has 100% support for PS and PS2. If i run out of space i'll just upgrade the hard drive, they make it easy enough to do so.Originally Posted by Yangsing
Wasnt BC one of their 'core beings of upgrading the PS line of game systems'? I remember an article with a Sony bigwig saying how BC is the #1 reason why they continue to do so good and a main reason in making the PS3.
Don't even bother. Sony contradicts themselves with each announcement they make. Just assume they're going back on something they said each announcement, makes it easier.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
Assuming this'll be Sony's flagship system for up to 10 years from now, I'm going to also assume that the uses for the console are going to expand greatly. You never know what kind of peripherals or tools may be used down the line once the PS3 finally gets on it's feet.Originally Posted by kazen
Lack of BC is really lame. If I ever get around to upgrading, I'd like to get rid of my PS2. I'm not the type to sell old games, even if I won't play it for a year, so I like my backwards compatibility. I still rummage through ps1 games and pop one in when I'm really bored sometimes.
I would like BC so I might have to get a 60gb soon. I don't want two playstations cluttering up by my tv along with other consoles and other stuff.

Yeah but that'd still leave a need for a ps2 to play those games.
There's still the 80GB version for BC and you know another SKU will be announced later implementing 65nm chips and "slimmed" (w/ dual shock 3) which may include BC. It sucks that there's no BC but Sony had to do something and at least they're trying instead of leaving us just with a $600 80GB SKU. They're getting raped
PlayStation 3 119.4K
Xbox 360 527.8K
Wii 501K
for sales in September. Gotta love competition.
What they need to do is just sell the systems at a reduced cost for $250 until January. Take their losses and at least be happy that you have a decent install base going into MGS4 and GTA.
The 60gb SKU was definitely the best, it has better backwards compatibility then the 80gb one, and who really cares about hdd size....you can just buy a attachable 160gb hd later if you really need the space.
As for games, there are already lots of games for the ps3 and even more coming out in the fall. The one I'm looking most forward to is Uncharted Drake's Fortune. It's like a cross between Tomb Raider and Gears of War with awesome graphics and it seems to have the cinematic quality of Heavenly Sword.

I really want to get Haze too but I dont know I doubt I'll have enough money for it once I get Uncharted and COD4.
Best idea I've heard all year. They should aim to make their money on good software. If you told me they were selling for $250 I'd be out at the store that day buying one plus another $250 worth of games so they'd get their $500 anyways.Originally Posted by Deejay
Any idea on price of 60GB systems? For the stores that still have them..
$499 at EB and amazon.Originally Posted by sekaran
Ya, I saw that. I was hoping for some kind of price drop for those too though.Originally Posted by Semitry

not dropping, as far as sony is concerned they're all taken care of as they havent manufactured them for a few months
save your money, theres a good reason ps3s are available everywhere and the price just keeps going lower and lower, NOONE WANTS THEM
dunno what you're talking about, we sell out quite regularly, so clearly some people do.
Have to agree with the above. This weeks sales, 17 Ps3, 15 360 4 Wii (only 4 wii's came in) I dont remember the hand held sales.
