I know for fact that windower causes issues due to the fact that I can run 1024x768 window mode with 2048x1536background fine w/o windower. I activate windower and I get 2~4FPS lol

If you use windower try without it although the 8400 mobile card isn't particularly beefy

I believe it DOES NOT lag using regular POL with no windower. That kinda defeats the purpose of having a laptop, since I'm going to have to be sitting next to my desktop to look up info anyways if I can't alt tab ahha.

Tried XP compatibility mode: No fix.

Tried NOT using windower: No fix.

Cried in a corner for 45 mins: No fix.

Totally thought crying in a corner for 45min would have fixed it.

Try some logging of Average Disk Queue(under harddrive), Pages/sec(under memory), % processor time(under processor) on each one separately. I'm not sure where perfmon is on vista, I can check when I get home.

p.s. I'd still dual boot to XP, and I saw that your laptop has the 8600 card in the other thread which is pretty decent.

Yea, I have a friend that has the 8600 card with XP and apparently it works perfect.

Re: OK I'm kinda tired of lagging through everything

the way I'd do it is starting with a clean install, creat a separate partition for windows xp by iteself and install that then when you are done install vista on the other one.

You can still access files across the partitions but doing it this way keeps everything nice and tidy as far as installing other programs.

After much trouble, i discovered how to make a new partition on my HD in Vista (they make it a bitch to do on purpose I'm sure).
So now I have a 38 gig partition waiting for xp, cross your fingers for me for when I go to install tonight.

Oh, so you know, when you install XP, you're not gonna be able to reboot to vista until you reinstall vista's boot loader. I did exactly what you're doing now...last night. It took me 4 hours, and a fucking IT professional remote controlling my laptop to jerk with my boot loader to finally get it to work.

    Boot Loader.

Allows you to choose which OS/Partition you want to boot to.
Used it when I had Linux on a seperate Partition from XP.

this is cool, it won't let me install xp. When I tell it to boot from CD, it says there is no HD installed...
    driver issue with partition...?
    -.-

You have to get the SATA drivers for your HD and slipstream them into your XP CD. Windows XP does not support SATA/RAID HD's during installation unless you install the drivers yourself during the installation (that thing that says push f6 to install a third party SATA/RAID driver) Uhhh, when I can get to my computer I'll give you a rundown of the programs and stuff unless someone beats me to it.
