I don't believe INT effects Stun. I do believe Magic Acc does. I can't think of another Dark Magic spell where this isn't the case, maybe except Bio because of its nuking properties.
you're my evil twin :DOriginally Posted by Sylphet
I thought that Dark Magic Skill was the only thing that affected stuns duration? I always noticed that a BLM or DRKs stuns were more potent than mine as a RDM (although I can say accuracy was a moot point)
I just macro all my dark skill and staff in for stun. Never really bothered swapping anything out on the head slot, since turban is inventory-1 for what... 2 seconds off recast?
Anyway, why would you compare INT+4 to MAB+2? Demon helm+1 is 6 INT, NQ demon helm or AF+1 are 5 INT, NQ AF1 is trash.
I use W.turban for stun/drain/aspir on stuff that's not very resistant, Morrigan's Coronal for stuff that might resist. Coronal probably doesn't do much, but macroing it in makes me feel like it was worth upgrading.
For nukes, my results have always been that AF+1 head and Yigit turban are close enough that it really doesn't matter. Yigit's probably slightly better than NQ AF head overall.

I have a question; what causes this?
My friend (123INT,HQ staff+26MAB) and I (122INT,HQstaff+26MAB+novio=33mab) compared nukes (no day correlation, positive or negative) and I ended up doing 3-3.5% more on various nukes compared to him. 7matk=around +3% damage in these setups? I'm not very familiar with magic damage formulas.
If you want to know the % difference in damage between two different levels of MAB, just divide the larger one by the smaller one in the following way:Originally Posted by Necrosis
You said +26 MAB, I'm guessing that includes merits, but obviously doesn't include job traits, so his total MAB would be 32+26=58. Yours would be 32+26+7=65.
1.65/1.58 = 1.0443 or about a 4.4% increase in damage. Not sure why you got 1% less than that, maybe from truncation in determining the actual damage from what you were fighting, or maybe the thing you were fighting was something like a pudding which takes bonus damage from magic, thereby increasing the damage each point of INT does and lowering the gap between you (although that should only lower it to about 4.0~4.1% on Ebony Puddings specifically). Anyhow it should be close enough to answer what I think you were asking.
Oh, that makes sense, thanks :DOriginally Posted by Suiram
Hmm, I need to correct myself slightly, as I always make this mistake when comparing the bonus from adding INT. I said that if it was a pudding the bonus damage taken from magic would exaggerate the difference in INT and help to tighten the gap between you two, but actually that's not true, the bonus/penalty a monster or monster family takes, as well as any other multiplicative bonuses don't have any bearing on the % increase from adding INT. The only relevant part of why the difference between you guys would be less than 4.4% is the difference in base damage, which is just a function of your INT, the monster's INT, and the spell you are casting. The lower the base damage (due to high mob INT, lower spell constant, etc) the greater the benefit from adding INT, the other stuff has nothing to do with it.
In any event this was tangential to your main question, I just realized looking again that I made a mistake there and didn't want to leave it uncorrected.
yeah. the amount int helps is directly proportional to the base power of the spell.
