Anyone else see it?
friend was seeing it tonight and then telling me how it was xD
im not a horror fan so im hesitant
Was supposed to go see this after work, but I didn't bother. I'll probably see it next friday or sometime this weekend.
What a piece of steaming shit. It wasn't even scary. Damn, should've listened to rottentomatoes for once >_> At least I had my psp to salvage some time.
Avoid!
Senseless vampire gore, I take it?
Was starting to get my hopes up about this movie being good when this topic was made....guess not lol.Originally Posted by Meteora

Really good movie imo. Really captured the sense of helplessness that you would have against a vampire in some of the scenes. (The overhead shot was probably the most graphic depiction of a slaughter I have seen.) And I'd say horror is my least favorite genre out of all movie types.
Yeah it was somewhat drawn out, yeah their ability to outsmart/hide the vampires was alittle far-fetched, but even they gave reasons why they could (potential spoiler)....and someone's bound to survive something, and this is a story about those people. I hate when people say things like "noone could have survived that" when in reality people survive horrific catastrophes and live to tell about it. (sorry just a rant I have about people claiming movies to be unrealistic.)
Anyway, Meteora, like others said, what movie did you see? Show me a scary movie, I'd gladly like to watch one that was acted as well, and filmed as well as this movie was. I mean seriously, this guy brings a PSP to the movie theatres and begins to play it mid-movie and you give his word any merit? Missing the end scene alone would knock a star off of the rating for me.
Oh yeah, best decapitation scene, ever. Both of them.
I was thinking of seeing it until my 2 friends who are as big of movie buffs as me told me they lasted 30 minutes til they walked out.
Seriously how the fuck could you not get excited when they show the overhead view of people being completely decapitated, torn apart and fighting for their fucking lives.
good music and sound effects, overhead shot of the town getting pwned was pretty cool.
I'd definitely take the opinion of someone who saw 30 minutes of a movie, (wtf thats like a quarter of the movie...what did you expect to happen?) over people praising it who saw the whole movie, one of which claims he doesnt even normally like horror movies.Originally Posted by Anyway
You've never watched a movie, and had the ending completely blow you away and change your whole perspective on it? (not that this is entirely the case) but that reason alone is why I've never walked out of a movie ever.
why pay 10 bucks for a movie and walk out after 30 minutes? i dont think the vampires even showed up within the first 30 minutes. reminds me of the time this guy i knew walked out of gladiator at the beginning because he couldnt deal with a roman named maximus being played by an australian. what the fuck is wrong with people?
Well regardless if the movie has a good ending or not, I'm not going to like a movie that i'd need to turn on halfway through to enjoy.
But how do you know you'd walk out halfway through? Just because your buddies did?Originally Posted by Anyway

wtf lol. I knew people that walked out of chinese movies with subtitles because they didn't feel like reading (hero, house of flying dagger, crouching tiger, etc) but that's pretty lulz.Originally Posted by tyven
TBH, I just saw it, and I really liked it. The movie definitely DOES have some pretty weak points, and that could definitely scare you away if you're like the guys above and go in looking for a reason to walk out (some people think its cool, I guess, I know people who haven't sat through any movies basically, and have walked out of dozens... if you can't find one movie you think is 'good' out of dozens then you are being elitist and/or an attention whoring prick, sorry!)
As was stated above, this film does a VERY good job of catching the helplessness and sheer fear-of-death that most films lack.. Sure, every zombie thriller has people afraid for their lives, but this one puts it into a relatively realistic manner (If they find us, they WILL tear us apart, and we WILL all die, we need to not be found).. its hard to explain without seeing it. Its not just mindless-zombie-slaughter-mindless-guntoting-retaliation that is in most films. It IS very gory (a bit over the top at times it seemed, but hey, that's what its all about, and it wasn't over the top to the point of stupidity, so its not really a bad thing) One of the main problems I noticed however was that many of the scenes leave something weird out of place so people ended up laughing (with a very large theater, it turns into a comedic roar almost). A lot of movies put stuff like that in intentionally as comedy relief, this movie really didn't seem like it was aiming for it however, it just happened, and sometimes at times that threw off the pace of the movie.
All in all, I'd say its worth a watch if you're even remotely interested. If you're not, don't go blow $10 to walk in and walk out and say it sucked when you aren't even a fan of the genre. If you like horror movies, I'd especially recommend it, because it captures a lot more down-to-earth human fear than most / all movies I've seen.

People that liked this movie, did you like Saw also?
Saw is ok. Not a huge fan, but the twists kept me going. In general, they aren't my favorite movies by any stretch.
