    Re: 30 Days of Night

    Spoilers, meh.

Saw it last night, liked it.

My main complaint would be that there's no way any of them would have lived, they all would have been fucked. No bitch, you're not going to hide out in an attic for a week while vampires are fucking ransacking houses and you've got your fucking lights on. Then the dumb bitches go get Billy fucking ruin-all-shit-flashing-your-flashlight and run out to save the little fucking girl after they let the other girl die. Yeah, their shit would have been fucked.

I also didn't like when they went into the store and the vampire girl was killing the random person. They've been hiding out for a week and they go into a store and somebody just happens to be alive and a vampire just happens to be alone and feeding at the moment they walk into the store?

Ummm, then there's the part where the vampires are worried about the people going and exposing them. Nobody is going to believe them anyways, why stick around for a month picking off a person or two every few days? Go on and rape another fucking town.

But besides a few weak plot points, I liked it, it was a pretty good movie. Great visual and sound effects.

I'd probably kill myself if I was in that situation though. I'd rather not take my chances(very slim chances, by the way) when the consequences are most likely losing your sanity from fear with the sadistic vampires trying to draw out your innermost dread and torturing the shit out of you.

those parts were actually in the comic book, a lot of the stuff in the movie was original. most likely because the comic series was a very short three issue, and they needed more content. but i agree a lot of the situations were highly unlikely.

    edit: added junx

Seriously, who pays for movies and then walks out? (unless they snuck into another)

Like I said above, people who pay money to pretend to be a badass by talking about the movies they walk out of rather than paying money to watch a movie.

    Re: 30 Days of Night

I am the kind of person that sees most horror movies as comedies. I'm seriously laughing my ass off in most parts of a normal horror film (Hello Grudge 2?). I dont really like horror films, but my friends dragged me out this time to see the movie. Needless to say I was impressed, as they had some parts that made me jump. The movie itself is pretty amazing in my opinion, for the first half it seems like a horror film with a lot of suspense. The second half seemed more like a struggle and persecution/escape kind of suspense that makes you think "So whats gonna happen next?". This is also one of those movies that doesnt have a shitty ending, I think the ending was very fitting and appropiate. Very satisfied with the movie. I highly recommend seeing it.

    Re: 30 Days of Night

My 1 cent and 1 penny: The movie overall was not good... overall. It did have it's moments, i was more intrigued at the beginning of the movie when it showed how everything was developing and such, and I don't want to spoil the movie so I don't want to say TOO much. I was really into it up until everyone reached the attic, then it kinda fell apart from there, like the writer didn't know how to finish the movie or something. Many things were left unanswered like what happened to the father, and other things were thrown into the movie randomly/out of the blue, like the little vamp girl, and the girl at the end of the movie (maybe i wasn't paying enough attention).

Also, the nature of the vampires was changed half way through the movie. At the beginning, they are super fast, w/ super sense of who is where and such, and then at the end, they could be avoided? The ending was pure crap tho, the fight, the death, everything...crap... I thought this movie was gonna reach a point where it would haunt your psyche, but it disappointed. This movie did have a lot of gruesome scenes, which were cool, but that alone doesn't make the movie good. The guy who saw the movie for 30 mins then walked out pretty much had the right idea, since the beginning of the movie is really the only part worth watching. This movie is a rental or a download, not something to waste your money on at the theatre.

This movie was terrible. Too bad, because i had real high expectations for it. People keep saying "oh it captured the helplessness of the people." Ok, but if that's the one of the only things going for it, then the movie is going to be inherently weak.

I also hate to be one of those people that say that the (comic) book was better than the movie, but it was. And if you read the comic book and heard that this was worse, you'd probably realize even moreso how silly the movie was. There were a few "oh wtf" parts but that was it.

They took a really great concept and completely suckfested it. Really disappointing and a waste of my time and money. Maybe they'll do the sequel to the comic though, which would have a lot better potential as a decent movie.

    ::::spoilers::::

Saw the movie the other night. Overall it was a good movie, not as great as some horror movies but then I began to compare it to other Vampire movies.... And that is where it got a good personal review. If you compare it to other Vampire movies where the fucks are jumping over buildings and shit then this was much more realistic(as realistic as a Vampire movie could get) which was a nice change. The only downfall was the hiding in the addic bullshit and the vampire girl scene.... Seriously chop the hoes head off not run around like pansies. But again it was worth the watch, if you dont think so go watch Legally Blonde 2 again and be happy.

    Re: 30 Days of Night

I'd probably rate the movie about a 6/10. The acting was decent enough - the stars of the show were definately the vampires. Cinematography was very well done, probably some of the best in horror lately. My girlfriend really enjoyed this movie, and we agreed we'd buy it when it came out on DVD.

My major beef with the film, I don't really think a spoiler alert is needed for, but just in case, here it is.

Okay, so the idea is they're some of the last remaining vampires, right? Well, that's probably because of modern day hunters, and destroying themselves. No biggie, I can buy whatever excuse you give. So they go into hiding in the Arctic Circle, preying on small towns, I'm guessing one per year. Which means they have to try and survive without blood of humans for a whole year.

Well, these vampires don't seem to be just savage beasts. Sure, they are beastial, twisted by the corruptive nature of immortality & inhumanity. If you follow the "Vampire: The Masquerade" ideas about vampires, you know they've got something twisted inside of them. But even still, they operate in a social way, like a pack.

Well, so it comes time to feed, on their one town per year, and they're starving to death. But, somehow, they are able to systematically plan the isolation of the remaining people in the town, in spite of their hunger, via the use of a human thrall. Okay, I can buy this still. But here's where I start to call crap.

Why on earth would you just outright slaughter your prey? And not just outright slaughter, but waste so much blood? Each victim they killed in the film they just spilt blood everywhere. I mean, by the gallons, the snow was soaked in crimson. I know that snow can make blood appear to be more than it is, but these guys would seriously take one drink from a guy, maybe a mouthfull, and then just move on, killing and wasting more and more. Perhaps they got pleasure from the horror of people, but serioiusly, in my opinion, if I was a vampire in this situation, I'd just arrange to have like 50 of these townies vanish, perhaps over the course of a year, and put them away in an isolated place, keeping them alive for year long feeding.

I'm not sure what the circumstances were for transformation - they weren't exactly clear. They just denoted blood transfusion, which is typical in all vampire flicks. But I'd think they would find a way to tap humans for blood. Much cleaner, no need for your own kind to die, and you'd have a nearly limitless supply of fresh blood. And if you ever did tap out a town? Then you could move on.

Anyway, that was about my biggest gripe with the movie.

That, and the main female lead's teeth were fucking bigger than the vampires'. Bleh.
