Humans have such a fascination with their own demise. If history has taught us anything is that we seem to want to die, really badly. Seriously just look at the amount of "THE WORLD IS ENDING" claims have been made throughout history.

Like somebody above said, most of what he did write is vague enough to cover just about anything, and there's also the people that will use complex secret codes and whatnot to twist what he does say to fit the situation exactly. There was a flare up in interest after 9/11, but most of what people used what misquoted or just plain wrong. He even gave the coordinates of the city that was to be attacked and New York isn't close. Facts just get changed to fit. He apparently also told us who the Anti-Christ was. However, each time they announce who it was, that person either dies or no longer becomes a threat, and a new 'code' or 'method' is invented to find the next one. The most current was Saddam, and I find it doubtful that he's going to rise from the dead to end the world. If you believe this crap, you might as well look to The Bible Code for future events & prophecies.
As for the Mayans, that is just the day the calendar they used 'rolls' over, much like we have centuries and millenniums. The difference is that we don't have people saying that the world will end every 100 or 1000 years... There is no proof that Mayans even believe the world was going to end, just the cycling of their calendar. This is just something else thrown out by people that like to make money and get famous by being doom sayers. The Mayans also placed many dates on statues, monuments, etc that occur after 2012, which, if they believed the world would end, wouldn't be very bright.

If they mayans were so profound and wise that they predict the future, they'd probably still have their culture/people alive til this day,
They failed the most basic instinct of any creature, survival.
2012? thats pretty sweet! i gotta start repayment of my student loans by then =p
i seen a preview for it on TV and when i googled it the first site that popped up wanted to tell me all about it.... provided i spend money on the book to read all about it. lolol
regardless if it happens or not, it's still interesting to me right now. /shrug
There was some special on Discovery about this a few months back. To be honest, I kinda got scared although I was high at the time so it could have been that.
Actually, there are still some indigenous people descendants of the Maya who keep their culture/dialect alive. I mean, yeah, you don't see em running around in loincloth or living in those pyramids n stuff.Originally Posted by Firas_Gattz

Wasn't there some jazz about that prediction being fake, idk, I don't really pay attention to Nosty. If the end of the world is 2012, ah well, it's been a fun ride guys :DOriginally Posted by CailIfrit

Needless to say, there were no tidal waves. Nostrodamus is a quack.
Notradamus and the Mayans arent the only ones who predicted it...A lot of people fail to remember Edgar Casey. He was able to predict a SHITLOAD of stuff that actually happened, and he said the world'll end in 2012 too. Theres also a couple Japanese prophets who predicted it, and a Chinese one too. All said 2012. Personally, I think it will end 'around' then on the grounds of how the world is going today. Its so fucking chaotic.
Guys i want to see into the future ;;
Time to freeze myself til 2013 so I can avoid the end of the world.
