Not everyone dances the same dance. Even if it were Female-only, it's pretty obvious the different races wouldn't do a dance the same way.

I think the reason a lot of people are saying 'female only' is that SE called them 'Maidens of the battlefield'. A lot of guys out there who wanted to play dancer are reaching for their balls because it does imply a more 'girly' kind of job. You could easily get reprimanded from friends if you're a male dancer as you'll still be a 'Maiden of the battlefield'. You know, until you can give them over 9000 attack bonus.

I don't think SE are dumb enough to make it female only. I think the only reason they tend to stick to women when advertising it is that they look prettier. Afterall it won't do sales any favours to have a bunch of galka walking around in short shorts.

I think debating whether or not it will or won't be female onry is fine. Idiots that state (in no uncertain terms, mind you) that it is one way or the other, are just asking for a foot in mouth later. Speculate all you want, but unless you work for SE, leave your assuredness over there.

Mithra should have dance steps that include more interesting balance acts vs similiar dances for the untailed ones.

This is more of a history of the job, rather than a definite indication that the job is female only. The text makes mention that few were and are available to pass the technique onto, explaining why it is such a forgotten job. Back in the war, there were apparently many female dancers. However with an influx of adventurers, I'm sure even males and Galkas will have a chance to partake of this job. Otherwise people will complain that Mithra characters are getting unfair advantages.

aside from the fact that everyone should know SE wouldn't make a job race/gender specific, the idea of having female only would mean that they're only adding 1 new job that each person could play (assuming a 2nd job would be gender specific aswell). i'm pretty sure they don't want to add just 1 new job for each player to be able to access. also, ffxi is one of the only mmorpgs that distinctfully offers customization and allows plays to do pretty much everything on just 1 character.

In any case, it's apparent Gauklertanz will have some sort of Enfeebling properties.
Kriegstanz will be the basic dance that you're first able to use, Schwerttanz will probably be Offensive, and if they add it, Totentanz will probably have zombie effects or something relating to undead.
