I'm sure its just because this is a thread about a 360 RPG.Originally Posted by Kaylia

yeah, it's the same with all next gen consoles atm. It's just bringing something out for a quick bite to satisfy the hungry owners.
tbh I don't care what console its on, I also want a JRPG, but I would like it to be enjoyable =/ Eternal Sonata is a step in the right direction, more games like that across the board and a lot of people would be happy.
From when I first saw the teasers to now the actual JP game, the only real issues that I have with it is that with every action that you take, each attack/item/magic has so much animation associating with it REALLY messes with the pacing of the battles, I don't know if anyone else feel this way though..
still really looking forward to playing it though.
I was kinda skimming and I read somewhere someone said "Folklore" was shitty O_O is it really? PS3 is losing my faith!!! How could they mess up so much. PS2 was a geeksend when it came to (j)RPGs...
I'm leaning towards 360 for my next console upgrade :'( plus I already have like 300ish gamerscore on a system I don't even own
Lost Odyssey is one of the next RPGs I'm eyeing...but one of the character seems to be a tad annoying...the blm one.../stare
it's not shitty, it's just not great. it's fun and has a fun use of sixaxis which doesn't get boring to me, colourful and graphically impressive, nice story (although paced a little haphazardly) and...decent characters. solid battle system that only really gets annoying when you have to change folks, since the menu has a slight pause before it comes up (it doesn't sound bad, but seeing is believing).
it's not exactly a console breaker though, I don't think anyone expected folklore to be a smash hit that moved tons of ps3s, it's just another solid game on a console (for the people who somehow still complain the PS3 has no games). but if you're looking for jrpgs I would suggest you go for the 360, for those and overall more games (I dunno what you like but whatever). between LO, ES and ME you have quite a few solid RPGs, although the LO is just speculation from my part, since it sounds like you are gonna get it anyway.
By the time I got to chapter 6 (you have to play the same chapter with both characters, which fucking sucks, because it's essentially the same story/area/enemies/bosses/folks, only one you play with a dork and the other with a cunt in a dress who thinks she's all that..)
I just stopped playing after that, didn't even bother finishing the game because I got so bored (and the game got insanely hard for some reason..it was out of nowhere, one second i'm kicking everything's ass and the next my allies suck and the enemies are like x20 stronger.)
You'll definitely have fun with it, but I'd suggest doing 1 chapter at a time or you will get bored out of your mind. I'll probably finish it up in a couple of weeks, need a break from the boredom that was chapter 5.
yeah, replaying the same stage as the other character was a real drag. but I played FFXI for 4 years, as a rdm no less. so I've become very resistant to repetitive tasks, and usually only notice after the deed is done. reflecting on it, it was pretty repetitive (the designs/levels) but it was still fun playing as another character with other folks.
sometimes I can't fathom why designers make the choices they do, but I can't complain (yet).
As far as LO goes, the gameplay seems pretty slow the more I look at youtube videos... I hope the gameplay is not too boring, because Blue Dragon's sure was.
I think, for boss battles it'll be fine. perhaps even epic depending on the situation. I haven't read/seen a lot, if this game has random encounters (pretty sure a video I saw way back when did) then battles WILL get annoying at some point, also, if for any reason you need to grind/farm/levelup then well, I predict that being hell.
As far as story goes, I'm not hugely interested, but I wasn't initially interested in a lot of stories I found to be good. so I'll give it a chance in that area, same with characters. music seems great already, no worries there for the most part.
It's the opposite for me. Having to grind in offline rpg make me want to open my wrist with the controller...I can't stand any form of grinding anymore.Originally Posted by Elcura
I'm not really worried about that tho, as long story is good. If I endured Suikoden and Xeno's gameplay, I can endure this.
I don't mind grinding as long as it's not too mind-numbing...like on FFXII while leveling up I was also farming so it was good and fun (plus no competition ingame like MMO's).
What really concerns me about this game is the voice acting...and the hell is the black mage's name again? From what I've seen of this character...his voice and his "lazy eyes" (no offense) kinda rubs me the wrong way >.< like he's always drunk and flakey or something =/ I know he's gonna sell me out <.< watch him betray me!
The black mage is supposed to be the clown of the party (FF8 Zell-esque attitude) from what I gather watching youtube videos, which works for me cus it adds more to the depth of the character/story.
Yeah, he looks to be comic relief and his lines don't seem too bad for the most part.Originally Posted by Exoduso

I feel shallowbut I can't get over the annoying voice
I already have to deal with something like that at work and it makes me want to strangle someone after hearing it for 8 hrs straight

Folklore isn't a typical RPG... it's more of a hack and slash game...
I don't see how it even figures into this comparison.
Although I posted it in the other topic, I'd like to know if anyone's local store has gotten the bonus disk in yet :X. I want the extra stuff, and it'd be just like GameStop to give them out before I got mine.
what bonus disc O_o?
Well, on the Gamestop.com website, it says bonus content, although I could have sworn the poster they had in the store I go to said bonus disc... It's most likely a password thing though, kinda like The Darkness' extra darkling.
