Send me a message if you are up for replacing someone if they happen to disappear.
OP EDIT 1: Teams now consist of 5 members. Not including back-ups, this totals at 20 players. The total amount will not be extended again.
Back-ups are people who will fill up slots if people miss matches. It is a permanent replacement.
I need three other people to start teams within the reserved spot list. I will be making a team myself to get started.
I will decide who will take up the final 9 slots in a semi-random method. May or may not be based on how well you detailed your situation... that said, if you have a very limited scheduled, you probably won't make it in, I'm afraid.
People who get in will be PM'd by me. If you do not respond to that PM within a day or two, I'll replace you. (So yeah, I'm looking for daily browsers of BG forums. Also, this includes reserved spots too). If you don't get a PM, I'm afraid I didn't pick you. I haven't sent PMs out yet and probably won't for a bit. I'll edit the OP when I do.
This topic was also made for discussing how the tournament will be handled. I'd like to hear more comments, even if you aren't participating, it's a community thing.

Okay, I've assigned myself an organizer of a Halo 3 tournament. This will be BG forum members only and no guests. Here are somethings you should keep in mind if you intend on joining or even just watching:
*Team based.
*It is not just a test of skill and not just a fun-no-one-cares match. The goal of this tournament will be to find a delicate middle ground. Now, teams will not be assigned and people can make their own. Will this mean things will be naturally even? No, but let's hope it's not four pros wiping the floor with everyone else. This is why I suggest to those who might be better to the rest to not trying to gang up on everyone else and split up for the sake of a fun time. This isn't enforceable, so let's hope things go smoothly.
*There will be four teams. Each named after something FFXI related and only FFXI related. How teams will be made is entirely up to that team really. I'm sure not everyone knows each other so well they can just pick each other to be a team. More on this later. Within these teams will be made up of 4 people. This may be increased to 5 if the demand is too great, but so far this hasn't been the case. The problem with more people is that there is a bigger chance of people skipping out on matches. This brings me to my next point.
*Please, please... don't be an asshole and join up, then never show up. It may just be on the internet, but show some respect to people who are going to put effort in making this work. Matches will be scheduled between teams and will only be guided by a deadline. Make sure you can work you rl(and FFXI) schedule a minimal amount to make it to matches. If you know you can't make matches, then don't attempt to join in!
**And don't be a soreloser. If your team has lost every match, you still are expected to make it the final one. And if I see someone quit a game...
*As you might imagine, people might have to be replaced before the tournament if they suddenly realized they can't make a full effort to participate. This might even come up during a tournament. So if things go into high demand... don't think if you don't get a spot in the beginning you can't later.
*More than just Team Slayer will be played. You best not have a problem with it if you intend on participating. There is also a chance some maps might be edited to provide what people think is a better environment. I will personally be in favor in removing ghosts and banshees for example(not that my opinion alone will matter).
*Finally, a player with a mic > a player without a mic. Also, you can't be shy and have a mic and not speak. You can't do the opposite and be a dick either. You all get to hear the voices of your BGmates.
As for the tournament itself. It will likely be a series of matches where every team will verse each other once. The team with the most wins will be declared the winner of the tournament. If there is a tie, both teams will face off in one last match(that is assured to be Team Slayer btw).
I have yet to decide on the types of matches. It will be more than Team Slayer, that is assured. I'm thinking a random display of 1 Slayer, 1 CTF, 1 VIP, and 1 Assault. Only one play type will be played in a tournament, making it so each play style is touched upon.
Maps will probably be paired with a type, chosen here.
Now, nothing is set in stone. You don't like my ideas? Feel free to suggest your own as we plan and discuss this.
There will be forum related rewards.
