We did the Hume several times last week with a small alliance of about 9. It went quite smoothly, with the odd death here and there. No wipes. Only did the Elvaan once and it went fine. Was warned not to pop the Tar00 and we heeded that advice.

The only merits that aren't active below level 75 are job specific. Things like skills, stats, etc. are always active, albeit reduced at lower levels.

Did Taru, went 1/2 (my codex failed, other tarus codex was no dorp :\\\'()

It was an alliance of 9 I believe, one tank (nin) sam sam sam (2 w/soboro) whm whm rdm thf blm.

The problem is the Grim halo spam more so than the avatar 2hr, if he Grim Halos right after the avatar 2hr (he did so TWICE right after 2hr on my codex /sigh) you\\\'re gonna have some trouble (read: you\\\'re probably gonna wipe). On the successful run he didn\\\'t Grim Halo near the 2hr (either before or after) and by the time he did Grim Halo we were stable again.

Just have all the melee wear as much HP gear as possible (no matter what the gear sacrifice) and the avatar 2hr shouldn\\\'t wipe you, it does about 550-600 damage and even as a taru I have 750-800hp at 50 (sam/nin). If the casters stand far enough away (within casting distance) they won\\\'t get hit.

All that said, I wouldn\\\'t recommend it. There is a very real possibility of an unavoidable wipe (grim halo -> 2hr or 2hr -> grim halo in succession will most likely wipe you).

    Maybe it was spamming Grim Halo due to your 2 Soboro SAM's >.>;

That's like SAM's that use Soboro on the Unstable Cluster right after they get it while still helping other people get thiers...

    enh?

It\'s a 50cap zone, soboro isn\'t under a typical GKT\'s damage rating at that point. Yea it can double/triple, but I don\'t think is a valid concern considering how much damage you\'re losing. Not exactly blm burning it with a single blm.

Agree with the concept, don\'t think it works in practice in a 50cap zone. I outparsed everyone in the PT against Unstable Cluster once I got my soboro (again, 50 cap zone). This isn\'t a stable fight like an HNM where you have a tank pt with brd and healers -- this (like cluster) is a kill it before it kills you fight, especially since the Taru NM has low hp and no defense.

quite possibly, I've never chanced not taking a THF. I've seen plenty of people with horrible streaks like 0/10 and such. Generally, the runs I went on with THF were about 50%+ drop rate, but like I said I know lots of people who were 0 for ungodly amount. THF does great damage there anyways.

Soboro SAM is nice at 75, so while you have to deal with more TP yes, it destroys the mobs.

Looks kind of under a typical GKT's base damage to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it a little silly to feed TP to mobs like the taru or the Unstable Cluster? Doesn't that accomplish the complete opposite of what you're trying to do? You don't want the taru to Grim Halo spam and you most certainly don't want the Unstable Cluster to self-destruct. Especially if you are low manning something like that.

While Soboro is a very good katana it just doesn't seem like it is really helping with the problem you are describing.

Yes, Soboro does rape mobs at 75 in merit situations but these NM's are not merit mobs. They don't die in 30 seconds, they spam AoE weapon skills and they most definitely shouldn't be spam fed TP in situations like Talisien mentioned.

So keep your shitty DDs off the mob and let the pwn ones rape it, like Soboro SAMs. Seriously.. thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiink. Do people just not use Ridill WARs because they feed TP to mobs? Or do they think and make sure to have enough support to deal with it and maybe make a weaker DD come something else? (well, before 2H update)

The Cluster and the Fomor's are seriously easy as fuck. If you are afraid of TP moves and shit, might as well be a pussy and Manaburn them. So funny to watch LSes who can't handle TP moves and people melee shit. If you are afraid of TP moves, gtfo and fight something weaker.

Maybe it's just me... but is this not a topic about LOW MAN fighting these NM's? Cause all your Super Soboro Raping SAM's are going to do in a low man fight is feed the mob TP and make everyone die. Your mage(s) will run out of MP long before you kill it. In a low man fight you usually don't have proper support to handle any situation that might pop up.

Now, if you had a full tank, DD and support team setup that's not exactly low manning is it?

Duoed the Hume as SMN and BST. BST Familiars one of the eyes and SMN pops with an avatar out and sneak up (spawning the NM won't erase sneak, only if he hits you). Avatar attacks, SMN runs back to the alleyway and unsummons. BST puts pet on Balor, SMN 2-hours with Ifrit or the avatar of the day's element. Not very difficult unless your BST forgets pet food >.>

    1/5 on belt.

    1. The people talking about Soboro and ranting about it sucking had nothing to do with low manning.

    2. I'm sure a NIN, Soboro SAM and RDM could kill the Hume and Mithra NMs easily.

    Re: Low man Swift Belt?

If BST isn't an option and you're looking for a typical set up, when I do runs for ls members, usually we low man it and towards the middle of the run, more people come out to help, so we have 7-8 starting, 10-11 at the end. PLD, NIN or NIN x2 or even PLD x2 works fine, I'd try for Hume/Mithra, Elvaan is doable with 7-8 provided you have 2 NINs, but make sure your healers are on the ball. If anything, bring a bunch of BLUs to head butt lock them, it goes pretty smooth that way.

I'd honestly not recommend low manning this if people aren't competent or can't play their jobs well. If your tanks suck, you're going to be in a world of hurt, especially if you go for the Elvaan.

So, after trading a codex your hate gets down to "almost" zero (?), how many does it take to kill before hate is up at max again roughly?

    Re: Low man Swift Belt?

I don't get why people think the taru is so scary. Max casting range is 20'. Astral Flow range is 30'. So yes, this means you can't heal people and avoid getting hit by AF, but there's a very simple, fool-proof workaround that removes the "luck" aspect of surving AF or not. The bare minimum to make this work though is 2 tanks + 2 healers (well 1 healer might work but 2 is safer); something like NIN + NIN + WHM + RDM would work really well.

    - clear the fomors in the room FIRST (if you must)
    - THEN clear the fomors in the hallway in front of the taru's room
    - pop him and fight him on the stairs like all the other NMs
    - have 1 tank + 1 healer fight him, while the other tank & healer hang way out back in the hallway, past 30' range (if the 2nd healer is a RDM, they could keep the elemental slept there too). Since you cleared the fomors in the hallway last and they're 16 minute repops, this means they can stand safely in the hallway for a very long time
    - once AF goes off, doesn't matter if people die or not, the 2nd tank + healer just run in and take over.

As far as Grim Halo spam goes, I'd imagine by having just 1 melee with capped HP on it, it really can't be that hard to survive. Sure, the fight will be longer with just 1 DD on it, but it's gonna be what...2 minutes longer? We tried this method a few times and it worked really well, and is in my opinion much more reliable than the Russian Roulette approach to AF (i.e. everyone stand close and pray that enough people/the right jobs survive).

I solo tanked the Hume as a Sam/Nin, it was dirt easy.

I mentioned Grim Halo as a problem because not only is it decent AE damage, it also has a knockback, which moves the melee to the casters. If this happens after or before a 2hr on the Taru, the casters can get hit with the Astral Flow and you can wipe easily. I personally don\'t think that fearing Grim Halo to the point of gimping your DD is the point of low manning. Low manning and Astral Flow + AE knockback WS don\'t seem to go together.

Morale of the story (coming from a Taru with max hate and a codex) -- bring a hume or mithra unless you want to risk an unavoidable wipe. Spoken from experience.

Went 1/1 on Balor on Tuesday. Lowmanned with 2 NIN's and a WHM. WHM was hume, both NIN's were Taru.

Running there today with a group of 5 (rdm, thf45, sam, pld, blu). We\'re going to try the Hume and the Mithra at first but we have a Galka as well, does anyone have any experience low manning the Brd? Is there anything we should watch out for? I\'m hoping that the PLD (galka) will be able to survive an EES, but not sure either. The mithra should be a joke as always with a blu there.

    Re: Low man Swift Belt?

I did it with 2 BST in my LS. They said they could handle it so I just came as THF for TH2. They were doing one for one of the BST and then we were going to do mine. The first one went down easily. On the second we had to pop it, and pull it back to the starting area, where a group of people doing the Sacrarium mission were gathering, including a BST in there group.

I zoned the Minotaur so my friends could get into the area safely, but I agro'd one of the low level hecteyes also. The BST in the other group charmed it, and when I zoned back in I asked him to release it because we needed it for the fight, he said "No, I'm going to need it in a minute" so the fight went on, one of the BST died from healing too close to it, I was taking hate during pet swaps for the other BST and kinda tanking it as THF. It was around 6-7% at that time, and things looked grim. There were no pets in the area and that other BST was still holding that one hecteye. The other BST in my group died I forget exactly how, but I was left to fend for myself with 2 Warp Cudgels and 6 Shiheis. A passing WHM and PLD started to heal me, They were in the group with the other BST apparently. I killed it shortly after and we got a drop on both of them.

That's my epic tale, but words do not do it justice.

Well did the run. Went with Nin/war, Sam/nin, 48Thf/nin, Rdm/whm, and we did the Mithra (with the help of a naked blm/whm that was passing by) x2 and Hume x3.

1/5 on Belt drops, WITH TH2. Not a good night, but I got mah belt (1/3) so I'm a happy camper!!

The fights were not difficult and no one died on any of the NM fights, we also used the Blink + Sneak solo pull strategy for the NMs, it worked perfectly. We got a clean pull on both the Mithra and Hume from full rooms.
