Wasn't the agreed upon solution that they would give BG credit for these things since people were bound to steal back and forth? They took that word-for-word from the forums/BG wiki...Originally Posted by Epical
Wish I could say I'm surprised, if they aren't afraid to steal peoples donations, then they won't think twice about breaking any "mutual agreements" about stealing info.Originally Posted by Epical
The only plus side is that its essentially admitting BG Forums/Wiki lead the way on new FFXI details.

I love the exact copypasta for the original, get your own info please
It would fail if they both took place at the same time, because then you're likely to fail both. On some servers at some levels of Beseiged, it takes everybody you have to protect the AC.Originally Posted by blister1
As for otherwiki stealing from BG, that's nothing new, but anyone could always remove it and let them come up with their own article after finding a copy of Famitsu and translating it themselves.
Is there any way at all to prevent that sort of information being stolen? I guess not, seeing as anyone can view Advanced forums. =(
Only thing we can do is that the person who comes with the info expresses his wishes that info doesn't get copied to otherwiki.
But chances are they'll ignore it and just do it anyhow.
aggressively ban users who are found to be copying information? :/ I don't think that's really worth the hassle though.
-- start a thread on the FFXIC forums and list infractions (and watch it get locked!)
-- get a legal consul, even if they go to a CCL too, we're still using one that requires attribution to the author if you copy it: I don't see an attribution on their page. IN FACT! I don't see an attribution to the original Famitsu article either (or to the scanner of those images)
honestly, I'm not sure if it's worth the effort beyond continuing to be a shining example of a 'better' wiki: (speaking of which ) we need to finish hammering out items so we can go to FFXIAH about getting links.
I'm sure that's exactly why no one bothers to add such a notice to each of their posts. It won't stop them. You can't really blame them, either, because if they don't copy us, they'll fall so far behind and be so out of date that nobody will use them anymore (if anyone still even does), and Wikia will complain they aren't getting the hits they expect and dump them.Originally Posted by Kensaki
I don't care if FFXIwikia(we are FFXIwiki now!) steals from BG, it has after it's been decided they are douches and we shouldn't give it to them. What does matter is Elmer(nor this thread) is not credited. Someone could edit that in, but I wouldn't be surprised if Charitwo the upholder of justice and hypocrisy would step in and ban that person.Originally Posted by Sonomaa

lol? -.-;Ok the following is taken from my Dynamis shells website. One of the officers found the info on another site and posted it for us. I have not seen any threads regarding it so i figured I would make one.
Lol, what a cock sucker: Charitwo deleted the Campagnie article because it was a duplicate of the Campaign article, yet he forgot to add a source to the information.
It's funny that this stuff upsets you guys.
It's funny you still post here, when noone cares.Originally Posted by Miji

This is the linkshell that guy is from, any users of machina on quetz, I dont really care too much that you reposted it, its the fact that you posted it WITHOUT crediting BG or Elmer
and to Spops, on your linkshells website they credited elmer and you removed it like a jerk, you owe him an apology
linkshell leader Velderin, you have been officially called out, make an account and post here, you need to give credit where credit is due
Wait, what, I don't follow you <.<;Originally Posted by Sonomaa
the person at http://forums.ffxiclopedia.org/viewtopic.php?t=7235 is not in Machina on Quetz, as that person is on Seraph. The Machina person on Quetz posted it in reference to BG and who translated it, or did they post it on wiki without credit?
Edit: Well, it lacks the "Found by BG" reading through it again, but it still credits elmer. Looks like a very bad copy/paste job from the post I made on qcdn http://www.qcdn.org/ffxi/showthread.php?t=51037
I don't see how you connect Spops on Seraph to Velderin on Quetzalcoatl, though
Spops is apparently in a linkshell called "Simplicity" on Seraph, if that helps at all.
But this doesn't.Originally Posted by Uzor
Ya, I know. But Sonoma quoted the wiki thread and somehow connected that to Machina on Quetz, and I'm just curious as to how that came. True, Machina doesn't give BG credit, but it at least credits Elmer.
Mistake maybe? :3Originally Posted by Uzor
I only deleted the duplicate, albeit the wrong one (i didn't know, work firewall filters BG), they have since been switched. But seriously, I could give fuck all what you have to think or say, thanks to the mysterious .htaccess ban from BGwiki, so fuck you. And I don't care about having sources on the articles, it's Mierin the one to bitch at.Originally Posted by Epical
