Just saw it. I got a little frustrated when our "hero" starts doing really stupid irrational things (his nighttime rampage at the pier where he was basically sure to die, his final suicide with the grenade at the end) - the movie didn't sell me nearly enough on the idea that he was mentally broken at that point.

He was trying to kill himself in the pier and figured he'd go out with a bang.

For the people who said they got teary-eyed - I cry at movies frequently, but this didn't touch me in that way at all. I mean, I get it, the dog is dead - maybe it's because I'm not much of a pet person.

Also, I don't know how anyone missed the butterfly thing unless they weren't paying attention and only went in to say they walked out after the first 30 minutes. I kept thinking that all that turmoil was going on and the little girl could only think of making a fucking butterfly with her hand. , I did miss the butterfly in the glass at the end, but I was nearly on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen.

And about the main guy in that hive, it's probably certain that they had at least a little more intelligence than general wild animals do seeing as how they used to be human, so when the alpha male's girlfriend gets captured, I think he'd be pissed. The thing they did with the mannequin though, might have just been one of the traps Neville set up himself, because in a city that big, even if it is just the small island there, he's bound to forget something he set up. I don't know how they would have known about the mannequins though, since he seemed to be marking off safe places on his map and I think the video store was in that area, unless there were some hiding there during the day.

About the lady that found him, she seemed to know a lot more than just someone who happened to survive, unless while she was on the red cross ships they taught everyone about how to survive or something. I just found it funny that she just happened to show up and have a UV light on her to save him.

I saw 3 movies, I am Legend, The Golden Compass, Alvin & the Chipmunks

For what it was, Legend really made me feel like if anything apocalyptic happened in NYC, that is how NYC would look, so quiet and barren. It gave me the f'n creeps, cause some of those streets I pass by on a regular basis

Did any 1 else catch the Huge ass Billboard in the begining of the movie..the Times Square/Lion part when the camera pans, you see the Batman/Superman Team-Up poster (World's Finest), the Superman logo ontop of the Batman logo, the date released was blurred looked like it said something like 5.10.10 or 5.15.10...heh cool little snippet by WB

Btw, how come all the utilities were working after, what 3-4 years? Just curious, never mind the fact the main character was in top notch physical and semi-mental health, more than proficient in firearms, and to top it all, a microbiologist who was immune to the virus lol >_> Other than that, I liked the movie t('-'t)

Anyways, the utilities working after so long, I can't explain that. I also can't explain why there were even deer on a flipping island. But he obviously worked out and scavenged for a lot of food.

My dad works in the utilities field. I asked him about this and he said water and sanitation are the only two things that could and would stay around for upwards of 10 years + without too much upkeep. They are just fed from a reservoir in to big pipes that lead to your house.

Electrical on the other hand would only last maybe 2 months after they stopped upkeep. The wires burn out fast + you need an energy supply (Coal, Nuclear, Hydro, and other stuff) so when that would burn out the energy would be gone.
