Animals aren't stupid, you know. It's possible they broke free or were broken free during the chaotic three years.

could have been broken open when the infected wanted some meat so they went after the animals. that or some PETA members let them go
Good movie. Why not just toss the grenade while your going inside the little cubby hole thing?
Also, at the end of the movie....a group of people started singing the fresh prince theme.
The sheer "WTF" factor this had over 28 days later was while that this seemed much more real in a sense of how the end of the world would play out - people trying to carry on their lives normally while everything around them goes to hell. I'm glad I read this thread, the 'i can't regonize the human in them because i've lost touch with humanity' totally blew by me because I was trying to keep u p with everything else.
Mostly disorganized thoughts to follow:
There was lots, and LOTS of text to read. And other things too! In the apartment he breaks into, the multiple new york newspapers, combined with the multiple Quarantined buildings and area's seem to suggest that it was a somewhat slow lurch into everyone dying. "The dogs come out @ night" and "Mass graves in central park" where the only 2 I can remember, there where other clips though that I'm sure I'll be pausing the DVD to read. The gas prices I caught as well. I thought it was funny how certain buildings that are complete now are still under construction of the upper floors in 2012 though.
Re-Utilities working: when you watch it again he had 2 water-heater devices in the room, and the bathtub could be designed to recirculate the bathwater. After he finishes bathing the dog you can hear a circulation system (or something loud that sounds like a pump) kick in. Think about it: he's messing around with dangerous diseases that are communicable, that could have been installed pre-apocalypse to prevent ground water contamination. The aforementioned apartment had empty bottled water all over the place, so its not so far out of the question that the government would take steps to prevent that.
Something I assumed halfway in and was very nicely surprised was that his wife was how it jumped off the Island. I thought thats why he was driven, so I didn't really feel sorry for him since he used his authority to get her to 'safety' and presumably destroy everything. Then they showed how her and his daughter died right in front of him and well, it made him a much more sympathetic hero.
best movie ive seen all year. youd be tearing up one second, laughing the next, then scared shitless
like what other people said, will smith was the shizz
i actually liked the ending when he made his last stand
edit: the main vampire guy had the same face as victor from underworld..or is that just me?
"God" leading Anna to the colony was pretty horrible.

For anyone who wants to watch I Am Legend in the full format. >.>;
I saw this movie today, and I too got the impression that the trap Robert went into was one of his own that he'd simply forgotten he'd set up. His mental state has clearly started deteriorating at that point, already, as demonstrated by how he talks to the mannequin. Losing Sam was just another bit of the downward spiral for him. The dog had a lot of meaning to him, not only as a guard dog or his only companion for 3+ years, but Sam was also the last link to his family. His daughter handed him Sam as she got on the helicopter, and minutes later she was dead.
Other than that, I hated the lame voice-over ending. The girl and the kid reaching the colony wasn't horrible in itself, but sheesh. I don't like it when movies change viewpoints like that. Robert had (duh) acted as narrator the entire freakin' movie. They should have just not done it at all, after he died.
I just got back from the IMAX a few hours ago from watching this, overall I really liked the movie. As other people have mentioned there was a batman preview before it, and I(along with quite a few other ppl in the theatre) didn't know about, the preview wasn't marked and we thought something got dicked up, then it showed the credits for it etc, was lol.
I didn't cry but felt kinda emotional when his dog died, mainly because it was his only real companion, and I'm a dog person myself so it kinda touched me there too. His shrek impersonation made me lol quite a bit, he did a good job with that. Also as aforementioned the fact that the movie can switch you from laughing, to jumping, to being sad, over and over again made it a win in my book, definitely going to buy the dvd, Will Smith did a very good job imo as usual.
I just got the book for christmas so going to be reading that when I get the chance, which is better?
"The book is better."
I haven't read I Am Legend, but seems any fan will always tell you the book is better, regardless what movie/book we're talking about.
apologies for the necrobump...
