Does Christmas suck for you?

Made a pact with the family a few years back, that none of us are getting anyone, anything for Christmas. Saves everyone a lot of hassle and cash. We have more money after Christmas then most Jewish families.

I already got my christmas gift. Blew out the engine in my car a few days back and the folks gave me $1500 so I'd have enough money to get a new car.

I like Christmas because I get time to fly home and relax. It's not about the presents.

As far as gifts, I'm now getting random cooking implements, since I love to cook and now have my own apt.

I haven't been home in the end of the year for 4 years... though my parents and relative don't specifically celebrate christmas

My birthday is December 23...so it's less that Christmas sucks than my birthday. It always gets swept up in the fervor :(

I love putting up a christmas tree and decorating the house. I put 2 trees in my house heh. Last year I bought a new house, so for xmas, my dad bought me wood flooring to lay down in the kitchen. My mommy gave me cash to spend. This year, i get to play daddy. My daughter gonna be 8 1/2 months old then. Shopping for her is going to be more fun than i could ever possibly imagine. I'm so stoked for black friday/thanksgiving weekend.

I don't ask for anything at christmas time but my mom still shops for me, my brother and sister. My brother and sister give her lists but I just tell her to get me whatever she wants, and she usually comes through with some nice stuff. I'm 25 so whatever I want I usually just buy myself but last christmas I went back home christmas morning to see 24 gifts under the tree for me from her lol.

I MUCH rather be surprised that's the fun of it, when someone tells me what they got me even if it's an awesome gift I still get a little disappointed.

I've been out of the house for a few years. I look forward to spending time with family, and oddly enough, giving gifts more than getting them. I spoil the shit out of my youngest sister, I got her a Wii as an out of the blue present earlier this year.

During University, I worked at/managed an EBGames. Christmas was, by definition, the worst part of the year. My routine on Boxing Day was get up early, go to work, get hardcore stressed out, and then get fucking drunk off my ass at the strippers because I hated that day so much. (And I like getting drunk at the strippers anyways.) Actually turned into kind of a fun day one year when some co-workers joined me and my friends.

However, now that I'm no longer in retail hell, Christmas is enjoyable again. I like getting gifts for people, and my folks are always really sensible about the holiday so it's nothing very expensive or crazy, just good times with my family and friends.
