GH3 Tournament Thread

Unless I missed seeing it last night while playing Easy and Medium to get money to unlock songs and outfits, and it shows up on harder levels....the post song score sheet in GH3, doesn't seem to list a band name. It lists the song you did, your score, note streak, and the stars....so....scoring may be slightly harder now. Anyone else see it this way or does the "newspaper" show band name on hard and expert? I only did three songs on hard, 5 stared Lacuna Coil, 3 star Prayer of the Refugee, and failed the solo of One.....

I hadn't noticed before, but I do now =/ maybe take a digital camera pic with a timestamp /b/ style to prove it's us?

Also, @ Epical, apparantly Hard on this is harder than expert on GH2 *shrug*

id just say take a pic of the setlist with you standing next to it with a sign with the date on it, i know ill prolly be in my shots, easy to set up timer delay on cam

I'll post the schedule in the morning, I apologize for not having it today/tonight but I got promoted at work today so i've been celebrating with my fiancee 8)



As for the paper not having the band name, yeah i noticed that. aurik gave me a good idea though. When you take the picture just have a note card with your band name, and each week will be a code word to be given at the beginning of the new period. So have the BG name + code word on a piece of paper in the picture and make sure everything is visible, points, %, song name, BG name and code word and we'll use that for scoring.

why so against using the song list?

Song list doesn't show difficulty, percentage, or that it's even a recent score.

can tell the difficulty by the score range fairly easily :/

gonna be annoying taking pics of scores thinking it'll be your best then having to take another when you top it, etc.etc.

Yes, and it's something that everyone is going to have to do, it takes 2 seconds to take a picture though I don't see how it's such a disposition.

Either way it's the only way to make sure that people are taking pictures of their own score and not printing out someone elses posted on one of the many guitar hero forums and taking a picture of the setlist doesn't give % completed, which is part of the scoring system or show the difficulty, which yeah you could figure it out by looking at the rough range but ya know, I kinda wanna have fun playing guitar hero III and not deciphering your score when you can easily take a picture of the newpaper article at the end of the song.

Ah, well I definitely wouldn't be surprised if it's at least harder than GH2 Hard. There are a coupe songs I can 85%+ on Hard, but that's a select few, otherwise I get trashed.

I've been playing the hard songs in quick play mode so as to not count on the actual run in career mode and most of the ones I went through seem to be harder slightly than GH2 hard. Then when you get to the end tier, like set 7-9....it's definately a challenge. I was expecting to get at least 4's on everything...and I outright failed Before I Forget and then failed One at 98%

Totally expected it to be somewhat easier, but I still want this to kick off to see how I rank up against people here, it'll be fun fore sure.

i dont think you realize how many pics that is going to make people be taking. ill easily be having to take 20+ pics a week and it takes at least a min or two per pic.

i dont really see where people would cheat on this, there really isnt much reason too unless someone really needs to stroke their epeen that bad?

Ok, Here's the rules for submitting.

The deadline is still sunday night 12:00 PST, 3am EST to have it submitted to my by either PM or emailed as an attachment to [email protected].

POSTING IT IN THIS THREAD WILL NOT COUNT, for all of you who couldn't even follow a simple request like PMing me that you wanted to participate, I will not count scores posted in the thread.

You must take a picture of the newspaper article at the end of the song, and only that will count. You must also put a little slip of paper in there with your BG name and a weekly code word which will be displayed in the weekly schedule on monday morning of each week (maybe tuesday).

The groups are set, there is no switching difficulty or late additions and it will go on for one setlist per week and using the scoring method from the other thread you can do your best 4 songs of each setlist out of the 5 possible. Since the scores will be weighted vs. the highest score for that song it'll still be even if not everyone does the same 4 songs.


If i've missed anything please let me know, the scoring method if your curious is outlined in the other thread. With this said, you can submit to me ONE picture for each song to be counted for your score, so at the most you should be submitting to me 4 or 5 pictures.

If it's to much work, then don't participate. This is how it's going to be done, take a picture of your score at the end of the song. That's not just because it's the most fair way to make sure people submit their own scores but also to make scoring it easier.

Your complaining about having to take a few pictures, i'm going to be going through probably about 80 pictures every sunday night/monday morning and i'd like the scoring of them to be as easy as possible. I dont' want to have to guess your difficulty or % completion by looking at your setlist score when you could just take a picture that has them right on it.

it'd be easier just off the setlist, shouldnt be that hard to just trust people not to mess with it, i mean even if they try and do it on a lower diff and submit that the score would be leagues below people on their same difficulty.

Where on the setlist does it give the % completion? That is a part of the scoring.

Do you see anyone else complaining? Stop trying to take the fun out of this.
