So does the 6200. If you guys are gonna run RAM in dual-channeled mode, I dunno why you'd get 3 sticks instead of sticking with 2 or 4.

    Re: Crysis SPDemo

Played through the demo last night, and I must say I'm impressed...

...impressed that my system handled it like a champ with half the stuff set at High, half at Medium. This is Crysis, after all, so I don't feel too bad. I only had small stutters at the end with the thing by the boat.

As far as gameplay goes, at first I treated it as a CoD-esque, run-and-gun FPS, but I quickly learned that isn't the way this is supposed to be played. =( So I ended up MGSing through the entire level and getting some sex headshots in and what not for lulz factor. I was more impressed with the mass amount of eye candy and lack of invisible walls (you can literally go anywhere that looks traversable). One thing that stuck out though, is you could be hidden like a mofo in deep, deep cover, and the boat WAY THE FUCK OUT in the harbor see you some how and start whaling on you with those turrets... pissed me off. Either way, fun game, but I'm not sure I'd buy it. I opened Everest before I started the game so that when I quit, I could see what my temps were at, and my card was at 85deg when I finished playing (a couple hours). Scared me, because I have a very good after market GPU cooler, and I haven't seen it above 60 before. My PC is my everything, so should anything happen I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'D DO. But srsly, I have a 360, and there enough games coming out to keep me busy for a very long time. I look forward to seeing some crazy HD clips of some crazy parts, the end of Crysis in the future though. =D

played though on low. Fun game wont buy it for a year or two just becasue my computer sucks at the moment.

Gameplay is kind of egh. Wish you could mod your powers to give you more options.

The multiplayer will be fun though. And modding will be fun too.

no offense, but even the most top of the line PC's can't play this game at 60fps with all the bells & whistles enabled in DX10 mode, DX9 mode seems to be the smoothest playable method of enjoying the game

I think Crysis just killed whatever was left of my graphics card. It was running everything fine today. Later my card suddenly began overheating and resetting the computer once it got too hot. I set up a huge fan in front of it on MAX and so far nothing. I won't dare run a game or application though it's wayyy too hot. There were not problems until I ran the demo.

    Re: Crysis SPDemo

Just replayed the demo and took my time with it. When I first tried it I kinda burned through it like it was a gun blazin' Call of Duty kind of thing. Second time around I tried some actual tactics. Took the long way around, used the self-cloaking ability a ton to sneak into or behind enemy areas and just pick the people one by one. It was fun seeing a group of three walking around when I was standing right in front of them with my shotgun pointed at their heads.

There's a lot of stuff you miss in this game if you don't pay attention to it. When I was doing some leetninja tactics I actually spotted one of my teammates up ahead with the binoculars, and there were a few dead soldiers a little further behind him. The suit abilities give you a lot of different options when it comes to engaging the enemy. Personally I went for the 'cloak & dagger' stuff, sneaking right up behind people and grabbing them before tossing them into another guy then using the speed mode and running back into the forest where'd I'd just hide behind a tree, wait for the energy meter to charge again and use cloaking again. The remaining group would wander inside and hunt me down, so I had fun picking them off. It was like the first Predator movie. ^- ^

Definitely going to buy this game, although when I went into settings it was only running on Low. I changed it to Medium and it was a little meh, but ran good enough. Changed some stuff around, raised the options that I knew wouldn't lag me out up to High and left the more demanding options on Low. I'm not running dual or quadcore, so 2.4GHz, 4GBs of RAM, and a 7800 GTX handle this game pretty damn well. The game looks awesome on Low settings anyway, but I want to see what it'll run like on a 'top of the line' PC.

    Re: Crysis SPDemo

All I know is that it ran like garbage on my system. Dell XPS 600 2Ghz Dual Core, 2Gig Ram, 256MB Nvidia 6800.

The AI was really lackluster. I played on normal and the next setting up, and in both cases the AI rarely moves around, they just stand there with no attempt to flank. They toss a grenade or two to flush you out but that's it. In both cases, the strategy for fighting was snipe -> firefight -> hide -> cloak -> headshot -> hide -> cloak -> ect.

Really disappointed me. My computer is a year old, I maintain it well and have upgraded the memory since recieving it. I shouldn't have to dump another 2 grand into my box to play the game. I wish it came out on the 360 and I never thought I'd say something like that :\

No, I'm well aware of the world of computer gaming and what I can expect. I should have at least another year+ of use out of my computer before it's too outdated. I don't doubt Crysis looks beautiful, but it seems a bit ahead of it's time, that's all.

I'm not trying to be a jackass here, but be honest, do you really expect to run a "2 year forward" game on a card that is already 3 years old? Your system is by no means outdated, but your GPU is. The game is "ahead of its time", and its on purpose.

Play it on "Delta", the AI actually reacts to certain things very well (they wont take cover near explosive barrels, they speak korean instead of yelling "Hey, I'm reloading so now would be a good time to shoot me", etc.) while others are questionable at best. The only thing you can fight in the demo are the lackey NKA regulars, they're supposed to be the junk enemies that let you "test" the suit. How would you expect them to react to a cloaked and silenced sharpshooter in the jungle, pull a Predator and just unload with a Minigun on the trees?

No, it's not on purpose. The question of system requirements was raised almost as soon as screenshots for the game were posted. And consumers were assured that you didn't need a top of the line system to run the game adequately. I don't know what adequately means to you, but to me it means medium settings and I think that's fair. I didn't and don't expect to run Crysis on Very High settings. But having to play on Low and still getting choppy performance on a system that by today's standards is a "good" system? Not acceptable.

I admit I didn't play it on Delta, so I don't doubt what you say. But just judging from the progression from easy -> normal -> difficult, nothing with the AI changed other than making them tougher to kill. Would I expect the AI to shoot me while cloaked? No. Would I expect them to find cover or attempt to track me isntead of standing there with their thumbs up their ass waiting to get popped? Yes.

I would expect a demo from such a hyped game like Crysis to at least show something of an advanced AI and I just didn't see any of that. Just like the "fully destructible environment" that was advertised seems to be a crock. We can hope that maybe things are better in the finished project. But I'm still pretty disappointed in it for all the hype.

Also thanks for discussing things without tossing insults

It really is on purpose, they want this engine to be utilized for the next two years without being upstaged and two years nowadays is typically a full generation of hardware progression. If its a question of "what they promised consumers" I guess some people can be pissed at that, but they never really lied about it, they were however purposefully cryptic and now we know why.

    Minimum System Requirements :

OS – Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor – 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista)
Memory – 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
    Video Card –256 MB**
    Hard Drive – 12GB
Sound Card – DirectX 9.0c compatible

    * Supported Processors: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista) or faster, Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista) or faster, AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or faster.
** Supported chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT or greater; ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Integrated chipsets are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.

    Recommended System Requirements :

OS – Windows XP / Vista
    Processor – Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
    Memory – 2.0 GB RAM
GPU – NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

You're at the low end of the minimum specs with a 2 Ghz C2D / 6800 combo, you can't really cry foul if you have to run the game on "Low". The only thing really holding back your setup, and the setup of most people struggling with this, is the GPU as benchmarks have shown most dual cores in the 2-2.4 Ghz range are performing fine. Its not a coincidence that Nvidia is rolling out the more "mainstream gamer" 8 series cards, which are actually performing quite well for their price range and aren't 2-slot behemoths like the original 8800s, just in time for this release.

    AI Stuff
I agree completely that if the final release has nothing more than dumbfounded AI stumbling around once you cloak it'll be a disappointment, but the cloak ability in particular has been a concern of theirs throughout development. With the whole slew of whatever "aliens" there are, as well as the upper tiers of the NKA soliders still unaccounted for, the hope is there that it will get a lot more difficult as it progresses. I really don't think they'd give people all of the suit powers and not find ways to challenge them, take away the cloak ability for most people and they can't get through the first 15 minutes on Delta. Although, if they do any jumping puzzles / etc. with maximum strength I'll be pissed.

Also thanks for discussing things without tossing insults
Not a problem, there's no reason to throw insults around with stuff like this. Some people will toss this game in the FPS pile and not give it a second look, others have been waiting on it for a long time and after the seeing the demo it just might deliver on all of the hyped BS thrown around, the graphics definitely do.

Are there any videos of this yet taken at full resolution/DX10/max settings? I'd like to see how it is with all that, but my laptop can barely handle medium.

Frapsing a vid with everything jacked up currently kills the playable frame rate margin on any box. The two SS's I posted earlier are close to maxed, but the post-processing was on "Very High" so the action looks blurred in still shots and starting a Fraps vid drops frame rates into the teens.

I've made a custom INI that lets you run the game on a 8800gts at 60fps on high 1280x1024 with little to no eye candy sacrifices. PM me if you're interested

Those are basically the specs where your machine won't barf the DVD back out at you and what they're putting on the box, the ones I posted are from the devlogs/etc. over the past few months. These recommended settings will barely push "Medium" with a good frame rate / res, and at those minimum settings you're better off trying to play FarCry.

    http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/6656 ... arsra4.gif

Config settings have all been broken down already, so tweak away if you know what you're doing. The game went gold a few days ago so I figured this thread would just taper off until the release. Its going to be one hell of a gaming holiday season this year, not nearly enough time for all of the releases over the next 30-45 days.

QFT. It's hard to keep up with already and it hasn't even started yet. Been a good year so far.
