To be entirely honest, I didn't care that he called me a jew. If he thinks that I fall under some stereotype because of my simple disagreement with his opinion (which, by the way, I told him he was quite allowed to have, which further enraged him), then fine.
However, I bitched at the GM telling him that if they are going to bend the policies this way and that, they need to start revising them (and actually, a couple of days later, they released that crap about what a GM can and can't do). If a linkshell is a private club, make reference to that in the ToS. If shout or say simply warrants a /blist, ok, say something about that in the ToS. But when does a ban become warranted? This is the internet, most people don't KNOW who I am, so I honestly don't care what they say about me. I don't take it personally. But there are people out there that do. I might not have taken offense to being called a jew or a fag, but there was a legitimate homosexual on the linkshell at the time who took serious offense to the fag comment. Does that mean HE should leave the shell too? Does that mean HE is wrong for not ignoring/blisting the player? Or should the person using the insults be dealt with?
They log all of this crap, regardless of whether or not they say they do. There needs to be some consistency in the way GMs handle situations. If someone is breaking the rules, they need to be punished, otherwise there is no point in having rules. I guarantee that if they start temp banning the morons who spam whitegate with shit they think is funny, but others find offensive, eventually, people will get the clue that they need to occasionally shut their fucking mouths, because yeah, it is the internet, but you're still talking to real people, and there need to be real consequences for your real actions.
