Even though people whine about it all the time, you can't deny that claiming over 100+ other people and getting a ridill or dring isnt fucking fantastic. I really doubt anyone sits there like an idiot staring at their screen for the time between windows.
It's not like Kings are any more of a time sink than other parts of the game. I bet people spend more time sitting in their MH seeking pt on drk/drg/pup/etc during their ffxi career than they do unsuccessfully camping kings.
I don't understand how any aspect of the game can be more worthwhile when overall everyone is just staring at a screen collecting jobs and items in a game that will eventually end and everyone will have wasted their time anyway.

dring and ridill, let's say why both are kinda pointless now (even though most of you will try to tell me otherwise, this is my opinion):

dring: common tanking for almost everything now is blink tanking... it's making even aegises kinda pointless (unless you REALLY want to use that worthless pld/war combination, but hey, that's your call). if you blink everything, you're not getting hit except by aoe/spells, and I guess that's the only thing that this is good for. however, does the complete ass drop rate justify you trying to get this piece of gear? no, go get fucking askar feet instead and call it a day. you can spend your time getting better gear somewhere else much faster.

ridill: fucking lol, dual wield warrior, lol. great axe, if the WAR isn't a complete idiot, is parsing in most cases above and beyond your standard 2hd WAR, and even in some cases beating out ridill warriors. the best drop from fafnir is now n.head. but whatever.

While we're here, let's just go over one thing. Fafnir and Nidhogg drops. Ready?

Shit, we have people two people who got A.Bodies in my LS with as shitty as our claim rate is faster than we've gotten more mage Salvage bodies.

Don't try to push your opinions of things on everyone else. People hold different values on things for different reasons. BLM in my shell has Morri Robe and still wears Dalmy in his damage down setup, and uses it for Sorc Ring proc when he uses it. RDM/NIN tank with maxed Shell V and maxed Bar from merited WHM and wearing a Dalmy can laugh even more at anything they're tanking that utilizes magic damage (JoL, Tiamat, etc).

All I really care about is having claim and being able to have some fun instead of sitting around with my thumb up my ass. :< The drops don't matter so much because
A) I probably won't be the one getting it.
B) I already have it.
C) It's not gonna drop anyways.
D) I tanked/DDed/whatever fine without it and while it would be a nice addition to my inventory and gearset(s), it's not going to make or break me.

I was using it as an example. What I'm saying is I care more about actually claiming and having fun with the fight than I care about the possible crappy drops etc.

Edit: And yeah I know a lot of people don't find the fights fun anymore cause they've been doing it for over a year, but my end game experience really only lasted about six months. If I ever had to go on WAR or on my upcoming BRD, I'd probably find it boring. But tanking is just exciting for me (assuming it's not like NQ turtle or Behe.)
