Monk Nerfed?

A friend who's opinion I value, keeps telling me that MNK dmg has been nerfed tremendously after the 2handed boost update. I remember reading a couple of threads about this, but thought for sure they fixed it in the patch that followed.

My question, is mnk really nerfed? or is it that the 2handers have pulled so far ahead that it seems like a nerf, when in reality is not. I'm thinking about leveling mnk next and well just curious about this, thank you in advance for any response.

It was fixed, a pimped out mnk/war should be on par with a pimped out anything else. Things are even, everything but samurai is equal, etc etc etc.

In all seriousness, MNK got a small cut in damage when it comes to xp mobs, but not enough to cry nerf about. It's just that 2hd'ers got buffed. Like above post said, pimped monk will still deal pimped damage.

My WAR/NIN Great Axe was out parsing a SAM/WAR Hagun at Mamool North camp the other day, I don't see how they're so broken, I'd say we had equal gear too.

A 6 hit (which if I remember at the time he wasn't fully merited in store TP yet so he was a 7 hit setup) soboro setup dropping 700 average damage weapon skills every 2-3 rounds is pretty much unstoppable. A pimped DRK or pimped hagun sam losing out by a good 5% is ridiculous.

The raise in pdif for 2H weapons realli shines with overwhelm. That being said, I'd find it hard to believe a good WAR/SAM using Fort Axe build would fall behind a soboro SAM.

Actually no, that is incorrect. MNK actually got a small boost in damage because of the removal of the cap on single hits. Those that could hit the cap on XP mobs (and people like Aurik and others could do this) actually got a boost after they fixed the problems from the two-hander update.

There are 2 patches on 2 hander
first update : 2hander pDIF is ridiculously high, almost like no level correction, 1hander pdif capped at 2.0 at cRatio = 2.4
second update: 2hander pDIF is lowered slightly and have wider value range, 1 hander have slightly higher crit and normal caps before the first update

I haven't seen a Soboro SAM post the patches, but as far as a normal GK SAM goes it seems about balanced with the other jobs. Before nerfing YGK, SAM was just stupidly broken since they could pump out WS so fast with like a 1.5k average. But, after the nerf that brought down the WS average to ~1k, it's been pretty even from what I've seen.

In fact in one of the more recent PTs I joined, the Bravura WAR came out around 8% (?iirc) higher than the just about fully-geared SAM. Using a normal GA the WAR probably still would've been a good bit ahead.

A stacked ridill WAR/Perdu DRK/Hagun SAM should parse about even, it's just that a stacked sam takes the main downside to using a soboro (the low base D) and can easily overcome it for what they're using it for thanks to the stat mods on YGK. A 700 average (more like 680 on north mamools) isn't hard to pull off at all and it's not rare at all to put out 3 WSes a fight, 4 or more if med's up.

And in any case I haven't PT'd with him in a really long time. Not to mention he's usually using Amano.
