That was the worst part of that whole level. I made it past the guys at the launch tubes (who yes, were pricks) and into the little room that the Captain seals off while you wait for the slow door to open... but I didn't receive a Checkpoint. I must have done that part 3-4 times before, finally, I received a Checkpoint there. My advice if you experience the same thing is to kind of move around the room while you wait for the door to open - gotta be a specific spot where the Checkpoint activates.

And if it makes you feel any better, the rest of the actual game after that point isn't hard at all.

    Except the Mile High achievement.

Are you talking about the "no fighting in the war room" part? man that shit took me a couple of hours at most but it was annoying as HELL... every time a part of it fast enough to award myself a checkpoint though, holy shit I was jumping up and down like crazy heh... definitely the greatest accomplishment in the game, other than that one split second where you shoot the terrorist in the face with a pistol and win the mile high achievement that is.

I hated the part in the silo's so much. I died so many times to guys that had the last stand type thing going on .

I kind of wish the online maps were a little more condusive to sniping, or do I just need to wait until the .50 CAL?

When it comes to completing all of the challenges, I can easily say that the only ones that are concerning me are the sniper challenges.

After about a million tries I figured I might as well rush it (got to the final room where you put the codes in with like 20 seconds left on the clock once the wall blows up, which isn't nearly enough time to kill the 10~some enemies in that room..)

I ended up rushing all the way until the big stairs area (with the big star or w/e sign they have in there... which then leads to the loooooong hallway with all the paths to the left/right)... I grabbed a shotgun in the previous room off of one of the guards, and after shooting down all the enemies that come in from the very end straight ahead (using the gun you start the mission with, its pretty awesome if you zoom with it actually..) I immediately cut to the right and started shotgunning people in the face and cut my way around that annoying area, all the way to the next part with the cylinders (got a checkpoint too, was excited until I started getting stuck at THAT part...)

Ended up using my grenade launcher at that point, cleared all the enemies from the front and carefully blew up the guys from both entrances (they always shoot you if you try to go to the other entrance... fucking assholes standing on the front of both doors..) Took the right path, and after like 20 tries finally got it down right and reached the door that opens super slow with 3:30 left, which awarded me with ANOTHER checkpoint... everything else from that part on goes smoothly, I don't think I died from that point forward since it's so simple.

Definitely thought it was the hardest mission i've ever had to do in a video game... until I saw the 60 second timer on the Mile High mission (which was 2:30 when I played through it on easy right before starting veteran lol.. so yeah, that's kind of a hard leap right there...)

In my experience so far, the pace is just too nuts to really get going on a Sniper Spree for long. Well, that is if you camp. Even your two Claymores can only keep them off of you for so long. Another thing, if your team isn't remotely fending off the people that will want to come and make you WISH you can loaded out with something other than a Sniper Rifle (a few consecutive headshots... well it makes for pissed enemies) then you are just going to be a sitting duck.

A mobile sniper, that moves with the team more, is a more supportive member of the group may have more luck. That of course is much more difficult that holing up and getting a few headshots in before you get rushed.

Either way, still fun from time to time =)

So far I've gotten to that slow opening blast door 4 times and haven't received a checkpoint yet and it's pissing me off.

    Re: Call of Duty 4

It only gives you a checkpoint if it thinks you will have enough time to clear the mission from that point forward... you're getting there with not enough time on the timer is all, try to be quicker.

And if you're already at the door why aren't you beating it yet lol, that part is so easy it's sad... just hide by the left side (your left not the door's) and wait until it starts opening, you will see a couple of tangos hiding there waiting to shoot you so get rid of them fast, then just sit tight and wait for tangos to come to the door, shoot those as well... at that point enter the room and look a to your left, you will see a tango hiding behind a pillar, take him down. After that there are 4-5 tangos in the small hallway on your left, toss a flash in there followed by a cooked frag grenade, and shoot down whoever's left... when you're absolutely sure they're all dead run down to the basement where you blow the wall up, because otherwise the capn won't follow you and you'll just waste time.

It's pretty straight forward in the computer room, just hide for a little bit and snipe the baddies at the top areas, then run around shotgunning whoever's left until they tell you the room is clear, at that point rush over to the computer and hold X until the timer stops.

Also if you haven't done it yet, don't forget the intel in the back room over there (run to the top of the stairs in the computer room and go to your right, there's an intel laptop on a table in the middle of the conference room there.

    Re: Call of Duty 4

Yar, one of the Infinity Ward Team had this to say:

    Hey Everyone --

Obviously when you receive the 'Player Kicked' or 'Lobby Closed' message, 99% of the time it means that you were kicked from the lobby or the lobby was closed intentionally.

However, I see a lot of threads of users reporting that they've been receiving these messages repeatedly when they're not being kicked or the lobby isn't being closed. If this is the case, and you are constantly getting booted from lobbies this could be related to a corrupt profile.

I wanted to let you know that we are aware of the issue and are addressing it as needed. In the meantime, note that if a new profile is created, the problem will cease as it is caused solely by a corrupt file.
I have also read that if they delete the corrupted data on their end, then it is very likely that ranks go with it. The post above by Fourzerotwo is the OP, and then of course 13 pages of "zomg fix your crappy game IW or i am gonna selllllll ittttt!" and "Halo3 didn't have these problems!" so yeah... I haven't heard anything more recent than this post about any of this.

Even newly created profiles seem to be having the problem, and it can just start out of the blue when it had been working just fine moments before.

    /shrug.

I can't take it anymore, I just CANNOT beat that one long hallway in No Fighting In The War Room on Vet. It's my last level I need, and I've spent HOURS trying and trying and trying and trying and trying and trying and trying and trying and trying and trying and no matter what I do there's ALWAYS something that kills me. I'm retiring from single player forever... this isn't even healthy to feel this frustrated/angry.

Seriously, I kept telling myself that and it's basically the only reason I beat both that and the mile high mission... just take a break until tomorrow and try again, you'll be surprised how much better you get (even though you died like 100 times today lol), the human brain is teh weird.
