I've been going to the same barber and nowhere else ever since I was five. Him and my dad used to talk about the white man every chance they got.
I hope to do that some day.![]()

I personally don't talk to my barber... if prompted I will, because it'd be pretty rude not to I think,
I really just like to get in and out.
Lol. Metrosexuality is hardly a bad thing, guys who can't maintain a hairstyle and don't take care of themselves are quite meh.Originally Posted by GraveRobberX

I talk to the lady who does my hair, its mostly just subtle flirting back and forth though. :]
We're supposed to tip barbers too? -_______________-Originally Posted by XxSlusherxx

I don't talk to them, I'd rather have them focus more on cutting my hair. I hate making small talk with random people though as well.
I shave my head myself, and yes I always talk to myself.
I talk to her. Her daughter goes to the same college as me, so it's pretty easy to converse with her.
I fking hate it when the barber starts talking to me, didn't realize so many other people felt the same way.
God you people are so negative and anti-social!
I'm kidding, man I didn't know so many people didn't like small-talk or talking with people in general. Kinda makes me paranoid now heh...
To me, more or less, theres a time and a place for small talk, and when you have a pair of scissors and a razorblade aimed at my head, I'd rather you focus on your job.
Everyone know's the coolest hairstyles were all accidents, you could be a star in the making :O
Was going to post something along those lines but you posted first, for me it's also that I'm there for a specific reason (this applies just about anywhere I go when purchasing an item or service.) and that's about all I'm there for.Originally Posted by Xavier
I mean, if they want to talk that's all fine and dandy, but it better not detract from how well they do their job.
I just won't be the one starting the conversation.

The one time Remy (my stylist, weird coincidence) ended up cutting my hair shorter than planned, i ended up liking it even more than what I went for, and I've worn it like that ever since. Of course thats not something that happens often![]()
That's my mentality too, but I give a small tip to waiters only when im dining with the Misses just for publicity.Originally Posted by Charismatic

I always speak to my barber (he/she always starts though), keep him/her in a good mood, and show him/her what a nice guy i am, so i get better results^________^
Its all about me baby!
Thats an ultimate rule: don't fuck with people who serve you (waiters, drivers, housemaids, chefs, barbers, etc)

I think waiters and people like Barbers and Stylists are two different things.
Barbers are charging you a prearranged price for their services, so I wouldn't say so much about tipping them than the waiter who gets paid shit and their earrnings depend almost solely on the tips that you give them. So I agree, 20 bucks for a haircut, ok, here's your twenty bucks, see you in two weeks, but not the same for waiters/tresses.
My stylist/barber is actually a pretty attractive girl whos a good friend and fun to talk to. She also knows how to cut my hair the way I want it everytime. I guess not everyone is as lucky? I guess if I went to some random joe's everytime, I'd imagine it'd be a little awkward and uncomfortable. I suggest asking friends for recommendations, usually among a circle of people theres always someone who knows a good place/person who doesnt make it uncomfortable.
I'm not uncomfortable, I just have no emotional investment in the place. Look, honestly I do prefer listening to the music and thinking about stuff than telling someone who I may or may not ever see again about myself.Originally Posted by Saraphym
I'm kinda suprised by the tipping thing, I honestly don't know anyone who dosen't tip their stylist/barber, mabye it's a midwest thing?
