Boat ride glitch or what?

Ok so, I was on boat form whitegate to nashmau. and something came up I needed to log out right away. I came on later and was on the dock as expected, waited for boat again and got on, got normal cutscene that I was going to be on the boat. Suddenly I see text that I'm nearing Nashmau and I zone in to Nashmau, completely skipping the boat ride. Is this normal because of where I logged out, or was this a glitch?

as you can see from chat log, i wasn't on ride boat, it never said "you are now nearing nashmau". Someone I was standing next to on docks in whitegate did end up on the boat ride. so only reason i can figure this happened is because i logged out while in the boat on the dock in whitegate, and then got on it again but i don't remember this happening to me before.

Hmmm u 2? I had this happen to me when I was refilling cards... I didn't think much of it cause I was tired at the time... was a nice touch since I didn't have to ride that stupid boat lol

U zone out, get the ship leaving animation then u are directly transported to nashmau, is what it's saying

sry ya kinda tired. i was inside the boat while it was on the dock, and logged out because i had to get offline. when i logged back in, i got moved back to the dock as expected. waited for next boat, and when boat left whitegate i was immediately put in nashmau without having to ride the boat.

Hmmm. I wonder if this has to do with the current glitch with all the other airships/ferries. Ever since last update, if an airship or ferry is present in a zone, it will always pull up to its spot as you enter the zone. It doesn't matter if the ship is actually arriving atm or not. You will always see the graphic of it pulling up. This causes some weird moments such as entire parties floating over water while the Ashu Talif cutter slowly rows into place, and the bastok airship always flying through the drawbridge while down.

It's normal ... i have a nashmau mule and often dump him on ship to whitegate or nashmau then log out to do shit.. log back in and he's arrived, just like it used to be on normal airship before SE decided we should waste our time sitting on a fucking airship for 10 minutes....

i talked about this on the AA post in advanced. my guess is it's a glitch caused by incorrectly assigning a ride ID. purely a guess though, based on my experience with the system.

That's what I'm figuring, although I can only see that happening via an improper log-out, such as alt-tabbing, which I assume the majority of us do on PC anyway.
(so your toon gets stuck in the game for 30sec while yer gone, which may or may not be enough time for the boat to head off and flag your toon)

i remember once seeing a similar behavior when the GlassID was improperly set when an LS was attempting to enter dynamis qufim. it was a while ago though, so you may have to search for it. i'm guessing they added a bug in their latest patch, since there seems to be a rash of these lately, when i know of no reports of them before.
