Re: Melee 70+ - What do you eat?

Your gear is pretty similar to mine. I have about acc+42, so just a teeny bit more. I pretty much each just sushi unless I find myself in one of the VT only camps with non-evasion critters. Sushi on mamools is about 85~90% hit rate for me. Meat is about 75%. I get cranky when my hit rate is under 90% and depressed when it's under 85%.

That gear is almost the same as mine except I use Sniper instead of Rajas, Toreador instead of ToAU ring, and a lolfudo offhand. I can use hedgehog pie anywhere except north/nyzul mamools, I also really really REALLY hate the acc issues Jin seems to have. If it's birds I go on thf.

Red Curry, Dragon Soup, or Hedgehog Pie. You're cheap and a shitty parse to boot if you're using anything else.

Are there really any other cost effective 30min attack foods besides coeurl subs? The 3-hour stuff is a waste for most situations, plus the inventory space-, and you lose the convenience of being able to switch to an acc food or something else when necessary, or if you change jobs.

Re: Melee 70+ - What do you eat?

I don't use my DRK for much, but depending on the situation I'll use Mith/Chief, Bison/Marbled or Carbonara. Kabobs are used for most random dicking around or short assault sessions. Mith/Chiefs are a ridiculously cheap bang for your buck food and I don't feel that Sis & Coeurl subs are worth the additional cost. For longer events I'll occasionaly use Bison/Marbled. I do hover close to 500 Attack unbuffed (tp/haste build), so I can certainly take advantage of the Attack boost they provide. Recently for Nyzul boss runs, I've been using Carbonara for the substantial HP boost while keeping a reasonable amount of attack (on par to a chief)

Re: Melee 70+ - What do you eat?

The difference between Sis Kababi and Coeurl Sub is really just price. When the economy was harsher, 2k a pop from an NPC in Whitegate was incredible. Now I buy Coeurl Subs anywhere from 11 - 13k a stack.

Three hour food is fantastic, but is it worth the inventory -, the inability to wait 20 minutes and try something different, or the anguish if you get Rushing Drubbed in the face just to pull ahead in the parse of a 2 hour merit party? Don't get me wrong, I'll eat that stuff like candy -- for an event.

if SE makes good on their promise of harder mobs you'll probably be right (esp. if you ignore 2handers, who won't ever really need sushi at 75 again)

carbonara can be depending on server. sis kebabi are similar to coeurl subs but depending on server can be more expensive.

if you want a higher cap food than coeurl sub, it's necessary to go to Dragon, Cerberus, or Hydra meat dishes (red curry, hellsteak, arrabiato, dragon steak, dragon soup, etc) which is of course, quite a bit more expensive.

I don't see the point in sushi on harder mobs really. They get more evasive and...get higher defense. You need attack just as much as accuracy on harder mobs.

Re: Melee 70+ - What do you eat?

RAtk food on RNG most of the time
Atk food on BLU on non-mamool camp, otherwise sole sushi
Atk food always on SAM regardless I may have retarded accuracy

Roast Pipira cap is +85 @ 607 base attack, they last 30 minutes and they're also very easy to make/HQ, besides, they're sold by a NPC in Windy for 800 gil each. They give DEX instead of strenght though.

it's easier to get attack than accuracy in non-food locations (look at the relative boosts of Mad and minuet, the cheapness of attack gear, etc etc.)

attack is a ratio, accuracy is a linear scale. you lose accuracy faster than you lose pdif. so there's an inflection point where losing accuracy reduces dot faster than losing attack does. it's higher than most people think; (exact point is dependent on the damage range you can get by increasing attack.)

I eat thunder and crap great axe based death.

Really though, Pipira caps at 85@607? Nice! I love those for Colibri fodder, but didn't realise the cap was that high.

if you're not close to that pre food though you're probably better off using a different, higher percentage, food.
