Hmm so that's why they're doing re-runs for the Daily show and Colbert Report. I don't remember them saying they'll be on vacation so yeah I guess this is why. lol..

I was really looking forward to Lost and more Heroes!

A nice compromise would be to give them their .08 increase so that their pay is doubled, and then for the writers to be satisfied with that. More people will blame the writers than the companies paying them anyway.

While the writers are on strike, they should try doing a show where John Stewart and Stephen Colbert write their own material (or just ad lib). It'd be funny, and they'd get an A for effort.

Actually I think they might both be WGA members as well, since they're both comedy writers.

Didn't I read somewhere that Stewart would be paying out of pocket for his and Colbert's writing staff for two weeks?

Do you mean paying them out of pocket to strike for 2 weeks?

I support what the writers are trying to accomplish with this strike, but I swear to God, if this strike causes the Scrubs finale to get canned, there shall be hell to pay.

That would really suck, especially since this is Scrubs' last season.

they're 3 episodes short of the series finale, the producer said if the strike prevented the broadcasting of a series finale he would make a straight to DVD version.

    Re: Writers Strike

The thing that scares me about the strike is that a point of contention the writers have is cable systems with their on-demand features. The writers receive no royalties every time someone watches one of their shows or movies on demand. I fear cable companies will start passing on the charges to the consumers.

That sounds really lame though. "Straight to DVD" has never been anything good, as far as I've seen anyways.

In this case, it's probably because there won't be any scheduled space on the air for the never-before-seen 3-episode Scrubs finale when it finally comes out.

    Re: Writers Strike

So since Monk/Psych start there seasons in January anyway, is it reasonable to belive that they were probly already to the filming stages of the winter season?

Even if they were it would be unlikely that no more then a few episodes would be finished before they ran out of material.

It's possible that the network has already commissioned and received the entire season's worth of scripts, but not likely. They probably either shot the first few episodes (whatever they had scripts for) or delayed production altogether so they wouldn't have to shut down mid-shoot.
