It basically is Diablo 3, unidentified items, town portal like items, unique monsters and items, and the monsters remind me of certain D2 enemies. It just has that Diablo feel to it's gameplay.


If you add those relics like mods, then I just haven't found a weapon that can use them yet.

Picked this up yesterday and after playing for a few hours, I just can't get "into" it. Waste of $50 on my part. On another note, is it just me or does this game have the ugliest human female face choices ever? I personally think they take the #1 spot from WoW's choices.

So, uh, how the fuck do you take screenshots in this game? It's not in the control config, it's not print screen. I can't even copypasta it into MSPaint. This is driving me fucking nuts, so many chances for awesome screenshots and I miss 'em. And yes, I've tried Fraps. It just takes a picture of my desktop.

I didn't have a problem with fraps myself, that's how I took the two screenshots I posted earlier. Although I do remember it being pretty funky, I hit my fraps screenshot key about 20 times, only got about 3 pictures in the fraps folder

Pressing print screen puts your screenshots in \My Documents\My Games\Hellgate\Screenshots

They're saved as bitmaps, so they're about 5 mb in size each. Gonna have to convert to png or jpeg if you want a smaller file.

Just type /screenshot and the screenshot will be taken. Don't hit enter first, then you just say /screenshot to town chat.... yes I ended up doing that alot...

Been a few more days, are you all still liking the game after it's not fresh out of the box? I've been thinking about picking it up.

Just finished Normal mode yesterday as a 29 engineer, and I'm not so sure about subscribing. Essentially, you're paying to still play a beta game.

List of things I've encountered!

-Memory Leaks
-Characters are not visible in parties (have to rezone)
-Engineering Drones are summoned with weapons equipped, but not useable until you unequip/re-equip them.
-Many quest bugs and areas where you get physically stuck, and /stuck doesn't always do anything.
-Difficulty is tolerable with 1 and 2 player groups. 3+ is fun if you enjoy running back to your corpse all day.
-Blademasters do insane damage (grats 500% damage skill), but also die quickly. Hardcore Elite Blademaster= dick punched in.
-Guardians are too offensively weak for anything, but a good choice if you wish to play on Hardcore mode (permanent death if your character dies).
-Marksmen, Engis, and Guardians don't use power packs (essentially mana pots) often, leaving you with the feeling that your character isn't doing enough. Blademasters go through them like candy, and have something to show for it.
-Terrible chat interface.
-Game doesn't even feel like it's online. You see people in town, but nobody ever talks. No emotes, very little interaction besides Chat-1.
-Storage isn't shared for characters, and there's no mailing system yet (subscriber only).
-Friends aren't shared account-wide.
-Game crashes force you back into the stations (towns), thus screwing you if you were solo mid-quest.
-Endgame= ???. Bosses aren't farmable. Once you kill them, they're gone unless you join a group with someone on the quest to kill the boss.
-Unique equipment is currently bugged. No special attributes attached to them, just damage+modification slots.
-No respecs, so you need to do a bit of research before you put points into skills, either by going to websites or finding weapons that give you skills as a bonus.

+Game is still enjoyable, minus the big list of cons.
+Has potential to be a very good game.
+Fast gameplay
+Pretty good equipment options/skills
+Good graphics (minus Fire effects blowing up computers)
+Forgiveable when it comes to death (except Hardcore). You just run back to your body and respawn with 5 seconds of invincibility unless you use a skill/attack.

I keep getting stuck on shit when I jump, so.. I'm a flightless paladin with a HUEG shield and an epic spectral splash 91 DMG sword. Mmm mmm good.

One really fun thing to do in Diablo was boss runs. In the full version, do the bosses ever come back for the fun of it, or do you kill them once and that's it?

It's possible that it's a bug (that's been around since beta?), and they might end up fixing it. I guess you can circumvent it by getting the quest to kill the boss, kill the boss, loot, and exit the game instead of turning in the quest.

For Wart's leg? Yeah, it doesn't respawn, but there are some bosses/mini-bosses that do. Shulgath does, he's the big demon you meet when you enter the first hellrift. 1st, 2nd, and 4th act bosses don't respawn, but if you exit the game before speaking to a "Truth", they'll reappear, or at least the 1st one does.

I don't think anyone has progressed far enough in the game to find any hueg hax secrets yet. They have a Hardcore mode, so.. maybe later on they'll add the cow level.
