Re: NFL Week 9 Picks *Big Game Week*

Who exactly is the starter for Buffalo btw?

NFL.com a few days ago said it would be Trent Edwards, but on Sundays game J.P. Losman came in for a few plays and now there's talk about him having to play to "save his job." I'm confused.

Losman is starting and he'll probably earn his job back playing the Bengals.

Edwards sprained his wrist against the Jets last Sunday so Losman comes in, throws a long bomb to Evans for a TD that was nearly picked off, and now all of Buffalo is clamoring for JP Losman again when just a few weeks ago they were clamoring for Trent Edwards to start.

I swear this town starts all of their own QB controversies. The latest and most awesome one being Rob Johnson vs. Doug Flutie. Fights would literally break out in the stands between Bills players over these two. Fans of Johnson would wear that fucking stupid bandana he always wore under his helmet and fans of Flutie would be bringing boxes of Flutie Flakes inside the game and waving them around.

Personally I was a Flutie guy because that guy somehow always found a way to win.

Edit: Oh, forgot to answer the question. Losman is starting because as of Tuesday Edwards still couldn't grip the football.

Losman might play well enough to earn his starting job back, but he might not necessarily get it back. There's a 3million bonus that gets triggered if he meets certain statistical expectations this year, and the feeling is that ralph wilson won't let him reach those goals. Especially now that the 2nd floor offices know that Edwards could be a solid QB, or at least as solid as Losman, they're not likely to try to give JP any more money, or try to let him get leverage to negotiate an extension at the end of this year (his contract expires next year). Either way, JP will probably get traded at season's end, kinda sad cuz' he seems like a good guy who's getting shafted on the business end of things.

Re: NFL Week 9 Picks *Big Game Week*

The Pats should decimate the Colts. All things being equal from last year's AFC matchup (37-34 Colts), the Pats now have Moss and Stallworth, and Junior is back on Defense. I want to say that someone else very key was out during that game as well, but my memory fails me. If it is close, however, then Indy should have the advantage with home-field, but I have my doubts about Indy even being in this game after halftime for the reasons listed above.

I would love to see Harrington lose to SF, but I'm afraid that the Falcons Defense is better than the Niners', because both of those O-lines are of the worst in the league, lol.

Cinci over Buffalo. The WRs of Cinci tower over the Bills secondary and it's going to be a shoot-out type game. They will need to keep the defense off of the field, however, as they are ridiculous!

BTW homer Lions fan here, so I'm hoping that Jones' comeback continues as strong as it was last week, and we get to see some nice plays involving CJ down the field.

Green Bay should beat KC, but I'm hoping that they can't to free up the top of the NFC north.

SD should roll at Minnesota. Should be a battle of the turf with LT and Peterson. I think LT will win that battle.

    NO at home over Jacksonville.

Carolina over Tennessee on the road. The Panthers have the offensive tools to get past the Titans defense, but do they have the defense to win the game?

Arizona over Tampa. Nothing to see here, move along.

    Washington over the Jets.

I think that Cleveland should overpower the Seahawks, even though I'd like to see the 'hawks win this.

Oakland at Houston. Hmmm... something tells me this game doesn't matter much.

Dallas should beat the snot out of Philly, even though the Eagles still have the stuff (as evidenced in their massacre of Detroit). Being in Philly may make this into a game, however.

Pittsburgh should win at home against Baltimore. Big Ben looks good, and if he doesn't make many mistakes, they should win by a touchdown or so. The Ravens Offense shouldn't be able to match them.

Man, I'm such a Bills homer here. I think Carson Palmer is going to have a baaaaaad day.

You realize, there is absolutely nothing equal/correlates to last year's afc championship.

I expect nothing less than an epic shootout between colts and pats. I'm guessing pats will win it by a low margine

Honestly, people who are saying the Colts are going to get demolished are being stupid. As far as talent and game-playing goes on that team, they are not that far behind from the Patriots. If you considers the Colts' consistent running game, you can go as far as to say that they are a more balanced team.

If the Colts do get blown out, then I'll swallow all my words, but honestly don't think it would happen; the Colts are just too good of a team.

But the Pats have something the Colts don't have: intimidation factor. Almost assuredly, Billicheck has done this on purpose, but that's a huge momentum to start a game. When it's tight, the Pats will have a strong advantage, and in big games that is often the difference that can open up a game. I'd love to see a close gritty shoot-out, it just seems to me that the media hype is getting everyone to forget just how awesome the Pats offence has dominated every team this year... Only a few hours now, so you all have a chance to tell me to GTFO when it doesn't happen like that :-"

Unless the crowd gives the Colts some weird crazy high, expect the Patriots to steamroll through this game.

I don't think it'll be a blowout because I don't think the Pats defense is good enough to hold the colts under 30. Hell, the dolphins put up like 27. I know the Colts defense is good enough to hold the pats under 40.

Brady is great under pressure, he's great indoors, and he's great when there is a loud crowd against him. It's gonna be pats by about a 13 point spread. They just have too many weapons and the colts won't be able to stop every single one.

Using that Dolphins game as a measure of the Pats defense is a little skewed. Those points came in the 4th quarter, well after the game had been decided. It also neglects the fact that they held Washington to 7 points, The Bengals to 13, San Diego to 14, etc.

I'm not saying the Pats defense is going to lock down Manning & co., just saying that it's dumb to use the Dolphins game as a benchmark.

I was more worried about the dolphins upsetting the pats then I am the colts lol. Dolphins always do that shit, so annoying.

It's more of the defenses not giving a shit when theyre up by 20-30 than the Dolphins "turning it on" at the end of a game.

K then, Dallas put up 27 or so as well....Colts Offense not as good as the Cowboys (and god, don't use ESPN offensive stats to say they are...)? All I am saying is that they aren't going to hold the colts under 30 (or they wouldn't hold a healthy colts team under 30, with harrison sitting, who knows). The colts are the best pass defense in the league, so I just cannot foresee the Pats putting up more than 40, which about what they average. I don't think the colts will win with harrison sitting, but I still cannot see anything more than a TD-10point win.
