Well considering the original context of the word gay meant happy; and the term fag is a Cigarette.
And the original context of the word 'nigger' was used from the start as a derogatory word to define a race.
The word 'gay' or 'fag' will probably never be illegal.

I always thought the word nigger originally meant "ignorant" and that it was just an insult slave owners decided to label all slaves with. I remember a long long time ago some politician got in trouble because he used the word "niggardly" or something by the dictionary definition and people went "OMG RACIST" when he wasn't talking with or about black people.

I remember when I was in college one of my professors told us about a preliminary study of the family members of gays and lesbians. The sisters of gay men and the brothers of lesbians tended to have more children. Researchers at the time were trying to figure out if this was a social trend (the childless gay siblings would help more with the nieces and nephews), or if it were biological. (The genes responsible for homosexuality and lesbianism are gender specific and cause higher libidos when active in straight people of the opposite gender.)

Mind you, this was 10 years ago, so I am not sure what ever became of this line of research.
